My dad used to work there for many years up until it burned down. He loved that place and would talk about the fun times there. My dad was making me skates which were destoyed in the fire. He also knew Spanky.
I used to live at Clybourn and Oakley during the early 1960's and early 1970's. It was truely a sad sad day when the park closed and then to lose the roller rink just a few years later. Whomever was responsible for the fire should be ashamed of themselves.

Sad to watch Riverview burn. i skated there 1959-1971. There's a group on Facebook called "Remembering Riverview Skating Rink in Chicago." Feel free to join & post your memories!!
My name is Jim Mckenzie I lived at the roller rink from 57-62 it was great. had many loves there. Enjoyed the races and various dances and the pipe organ. Keep in touch. My dad owned Short'y grill at Belmont & Honory
It took all the guts I could muster. I finally paid the .25 fee. They were called the "BOBS". After that 1st ride, I think I went n' got a roll of quarters. That was in '66. When the "rink" burned in '71, I lived a block away, n' you could feel the heat from the flames almost that far away.
I skated at Riverview while on liberty from Great Lakes Training Center in 1955. My dad (now deceased) told me about when he went skating at Riverview back in the late 1920s when the skaters wore shirts and ties. A great place.
Riverview was a great amusement park. I went there several times as a kid in the 60s and rode the Fireball, Flying Turns, Wild Mouse, and some other great roller coasters....

I lived near Horner Park (Montrose and California), and I remember the smoke and falling ashes from that fire. It must've been really big!

My parents took me to Riverview Park and Riverview Roller Rink when I was a kid. Had some fun there. I didn't know the rink burned down.
