What a treasure!! If you grew up in the NY Metro area, how could you not love this video? Classic commercials, the conclusion of Joe Franklin, more commercials, 9 All Night opening and the opening to "The Vampire People"!!! Amazing! Thank you for posting.
Love this blast from the past! But Christy lane? I want to strangle! That woman with her happy Christmas songs!!! I hate Christmas! Because it was my mothers birthday and she isn't here anymore
:-(:::::::::::::::::::: DIE CHRISTY LANE:-(:::::::::::
Yeah, werd...from the sluttiness of the women in this commercial, you don't know if they were talking about the clothes or the women themselves being easy picking, lol
Damn all the WOR TV stuff is getting deleted little by little...They just deleted the WOR TV editorial block from '81 which featured the guy from Newark & they deleted the Fright Night bumpers & the commercial blocks!!! That sux!!! Can some1 please repost? I love all the stuff from 79-82
LS Records, which put out this compilation, was run by Ms. Lane's husband, Lee Stoller, for the purpose of issuing her works. The firm made a lot of money over the years from these mail-order LP's.
The commack motor inn is still in operation today. In fact, they have their own website, and pictures of their rooms, including the heart shaped water bed and heart shaped hot tubs.
EEEEEEEEEEEEASY PICKINS! How could I not forget that Grandmaster Flash-inspired jingle!
The 9 All Night clip is another fine example of repackaged-for-TV low budget cinema! IMDB says this movie was indeed from the Philippines under the original Filipino title "Kulay dugo ang gabi".
I remember NY Hot Tracks. It aired on Sunday afternoons, I think (on WABC Ch. 7). I saw the following videos for the first time on that show: "Let's Stay Together" by Tina Turner, "Ebony Eyes" by Smokey Robinson and Rick James, "She's Strange" by Cameo, "Lucky Star" by Madonna. Does anyone else remember "Playback 84" that aired sometime during the summer of '84 on WOR Ch. 9? There was also a video show on Ch. 9 that aired Saturday afternoons (I think) and "Hot" was on WNEW Ch. 5 weekdays.
I think it was made in the Philippines. But this film ("The Vampire People" was the title assigned it for TV) had been in WOR-TV's library since at least 1974.
Sounded like Phil Tonken was modifying his delivery for the "News 9 at Noon" promo (i.e. sounding a bit more nasal) prior to the opening "9 All Night" music.
I miss old TV..This is when television was good.....Today it's all a bunch of HORSESHIT!!!

Cristy Lane was wearing the puffy shirt way before Seinfeld.

I remember seeing commercials for Cristy Lane's "One Day At A Time" album quite frequently around that same time frame (1984-85).

I thought "New York Hot Tracks" ran late Friday nights/early Saturday mornings, right up against NBC's "Friday Night Videos."

I remember it being on sometime in the afternoon. I'll have to check some old tapes I have because I know I do have a bumper for NYHT.
