fiddling with what nature gives us in its own way is always and has always been harmfull with side effects that have taken very bad shapes in the past...for example...in the past when there was no technology so advanced as today...people used to live more healthy life than what we are today....some researches and experiments do have a very adverse effect...so it is high time...we understand this and move in the right way....
@AllColdInside yes and going up about 3 months every year. A project like this helps as well. There is also folding@home. They work to figure out why protiens fold which is a major problem they will need to solve if they want to slow the aging process.
@endthedisease You are welcome to disassociate yourself from me if you like. I won't change my thinking. We have means to feed everyone now without resorting to manipulating our food genetically and I am all for that.
My opinion will get me persecuted, but I will not deny my beliefs.
@endthedisease, I don't know what a "green killer" is. I am a Christian and I don't approve of man playing god by adding genes from other species into my food, like putting genes from winter flounder into a tomato so it will be frost resistant. We aren't supposed to be messing with our food like that. Who knows what kind of side effects it will have?
@Rocketeer do you realize that the genes from the flounder could be made from scratch in the lab and put in the tomato that way. The only reason they use the genes from the fish is because it's more cost efficient. It's thinking like this that is promoting poverty on this planet.
I'm all about finding cures for diseases, but I hope this project isn't involved in genetic manipulation of food, such as the rice mentioned at the beginning.
I hope they look into organic prosthetics, neural interfacing, advanced aquaculture, organic electricity harvesting, algal symbiosis, symbiotic biome, Carbon or Titanium bone scaffolding interface, hybrotic computing systems, transgenic tissue scaffolding. A whole new paradigm shift is starting :)
@PinkProgram I've heard some scientists say the potential is unlimited. Even with the million or so users they have most projects take 2-5 years to complete. We really need millions more running this program.
