Christofias or any other would not make any difference. Greek Cypriots have never had any will to share the power and insist on ignoring our constitutional rights even granted by Cyprus republic in 1960. The sooner we dump this unification crap in where it belongs (a thrashcan),the better it wiil be for both communuties. Even Kosova declared its independence any there is no fuss over that. Turkish cypriots will never accept minority status on the island.

You need to read some history and find out. There is a lot of misinformation cultivated from Turkey for political purposes which are misleading. Talking to both communities I realized that they are all great people with many similarities apart from their religion but they all want peace. I think the bad guy here is Turkish military regime which is not willing to accept that the world has moved on and they don't have any rights on turkish cyprios whatsoever.

The main problem is that since 1974 the Turkish invasion to Cyprus is not recognised by any country in the World...oh well maybe just Turkey. Now an obstacle set to Turkey's induction to EU is to recognise the whole island as Republic of Cyprus and by doing that means they should remove all the Turkish military forces outside the country and the control of the insland should be restored to its formal Greek-Cypriot Goverment.

Turkey appears rather unwilling to do so and the two sites has to go through several, time consuming, diplomatic discussions to solve every single individual problem between them. Up until now several milestones has been reached by both sites like the opening of the borders in some very important spots along the Green-Line.
