Hello there markfrosty, God did actually give many more commands than just the Ten Commandments, in the books of the law it goes into much greater detail. I suppose the Ten Commandments are the main and most important commands that man should adhere to. The Bible does actually say that we should obey the laws set by governments, as long as those laws do not require someone to sin against God, for example worshipping other Gods.

i love learning about religion i find it fasinating, but it just seems that people tell me so many different views/beliefs/storys, many that seem to contradict themselves,i find it to difficult to learn, so i just stay with my own beliefs, but i dont go spreading the word to every person on the street. and if i were to start to learn a religion, who knows if im choosing the right one by buudism or islam, or the wrong one like christianity.
At the end of the day it is up to you to make a decision, what really is the harm in people talking to others about God, and what is the harm in listening or reading the bible, no one has anything to lose by it. I do think youre mistaken in saying Christianity is the wrong religion though, certainly in my case I believe the contrary, it has no doubt changed my life in a very very profound way. It is easiest to show, to a higher degree of certainty that the bible is nonsense. Test the bible by giving a passage from the bible to 10 theologians and having them write down their interpretation. The interpretations will vary greatly and some will even contradict others. Can you think of some other ways of testing the bible?

Well, he gave the laws, if people choose not to follow them who are the ones at fault. Brother, I have sinned, and I take full responsibility for the things Ive done, it wasnt God that forced me to do those things. If we suffer because of the wrong we do then our blood is on our own heads. The fact that we still are alive, despite the sins we have committed, shows Gods mercy, you just dont recognise it. You should try reading the rest of the Bible and you will find plenty of acts of mercy.

Hello there markfrosty, God did actually give many more commands than just the Ten Commandments, in the books of the law it goes into much greater detail. I suppose the Ten Commandments are the main and most important commands that man should adhere to. The Bible does actually say that we should obey the laws set by governments, as long as those laws do not require someone to sin against God, for example worshipping other Gods.

At the end of the day it is up to you to make a decision, what really is the harm in people talking to others about God, and what is the harm in listening or reading the bible, no one has anything to lose by it. I do think youre mistaken in saying Christianity is the wrong religion though, certainly in my case I believe the contrary, it has no doubt changed my life in a very very profound way. I think in the west Christianity is a religion that people believe they have become very familiar and bored with, thats what I thought, and so I think people instinctively look towards other beliefs.

hmm... not really. Because the temptation and the inability to dismiss it from his mind must have come from somewhere. We ascribe that to Satan now, but before Satan was there Lucifer was still tempted into sin. We say that Saten tempts us into sin - so what tempted Lucifer into sin? If all things in the exsistence were created by god, then sin too must have. We usually get around that by saying sin came from man and Satan. But it cant have if Lucifer also sinned.

1st the Christian God is purely fictional. 2nd this made up God didn't make any sin free world or indeed any world at all. The Bible's account of creation has been proven to be completely false in just about every detail. These days only the mentally backward take Genesis or indeed the Bible seriously. Hence there can be no answer to your question. But you're the superstitious one, you tell me. I mean according to the BS in the Bible even Nelson Mandela is going to hell so anythings possible lol

Yes, according to the Bible, all have sinned and fallen short (lied, stolen, looked with lust, disobeyed their parents, etc.). That includes Ghandi and Nelson Mandela.
If there is a Creator to this place, who will rid it of evil, humankind is in trouble.
The Biblical Gospel is that God became a man, as Jesus Christ, lived a sinless life, and got crucified for our sins, taking the punishment you and I deserve. Then He rose from the dead and defeated death.

Well luckily for the human race, the Bible is uncorroborated bullsh*t from cover to cover. There is not a single line in the Bible that was written by anyone who actually knew "Jesus". Jesus is in fact just a fictional amalgam of ideas lifted from older religions Paganism, Mythracism etc. being born of a virgin, crucifiction, resurrection, even turning water into wine are all concepts taken from other religions and incorporated into the christian myth by the authors of the Bible.

Current comfortable living conditions, cars, refridgeration, electricity, cures.
Science is neutral, the people who use it give it a nature of "good or evil"

Your faith, like any other, is of no value to those who don't believe it. You can believe what you want, but you must allow others to believe what they want.
I choose to believe none of the religious ideas. To me those are all empty, wishful lies. What you believe is great for you, but worthless to me. Can you accept that?
If you cannot accept that other people may not share your beliefs, then you are advocating pushing your faith on the world, while rejecting others who aim at the same.

By the way, violation of specific sins is the very foundation of the definition of evil. (Murder, rape) This to me is the most disgusting aspect of what the Christian faith advocates. They gloss over what I consider to be unconscionable acts and preach forgiveness to the sinner.
I am sorry, but if you want to forgive the child molesting priest, that is your prerogative. I would prefer to see them in prison.

I like how you talk out of both sides of your mouth. You condemn God for being too harsh and then refuse to forgive perverts. In Torah the punishment for molesting a child was death by stoning. There would be no repeat and others would certainly be disuaded. Jesus said that anyone who commits offense against a child would be better off having a millstone tied to his neck and being thrown in the sea than to be judged by Christ. The God/no God, creation/evolution debates are like the forced labor/choice debate. There is nothing to gain for those with common sense and ability to reason. The laws already favor us!
Freedom of religion includes the choice not to prescribe to any faith at all.
A woman's right to choose allows for just that: awoman can chose (whichever she decides).
Everybody wins. Only the extremists (religious zealots and forced labor advocates) won't ever stop fighting the losing game.

You are failing to acknowledge that "these Christians" also DISAGREE. Atheists are not forcing their views on Christians, it's the other way around.

Of course I will explain. In European countries, around the 14 century era to be specific, the church would assign local clerics to pay occasional visits to the local's houses to recite prayers with the people of the respective household. The inquisition judicary - (a board set up by the church) through the clerics, would be informed as to which househols is suspected of practing
something other than the church's doctrine (every household was obliged to have a bible!).. burned at the stake
