Fact 1 yes Pavano was a good signing, at the time it was, it turned out to be a disaster but when he signed it was a good signing. Fact 2 I was against signing Pavano but what else was there to do? Why are you so worried about the Yankees payroll anyways? Cashman didn't get full control of the team until after the 2005 season when he got his three year contract. Up until then Steinbrenner was very involved in getting who he wanted. So you can't fully blame Cashman for what went on before 2006. Everyone was after Pavano, Cashman didn't know he was going to get hurt. The Yankees have the money to make up for their mistakes. Every team makes mistakes. At least the Yankees try to win.

I don't think signing Clemens in 07 was a joke at all. He filled in a spot in the rotation and got us 6 wins, Ponson wasn't a good signing and I was mad about it so trying to throw Ponson in there is stupid. Ponson was about the best available pitcher that could start now. He had a few good starts and that's about it. Randy Johnson wasn't a joke he got 34 wins in 2 seasons here. The Yankees already had a payroll around $200 million, they wern't going to add to their payroll, they can now tho.

It's Jaret Wright and again Wright was coming off a good season in 04 and the Yankees had some holes to fill and it didn't workout, Wright was a good backend of the rotation pitcher. I'm not failing to defend anyone I didn't like the Igawa signing. Brown and Wright though were good moves at the time the moves were made any GM would of made those moves to strengthen a rotation. How do you know Epstein has out general managed Cashman? Cashman really became a GM in 06, the Yankees farm is good,

Cashman just started rebuilding the Yankees farm system in 2006. That wasn't even three years ago. You can't just rebuild something overnight, rebuilding a baseball team takes 3-5 years usually. The Yankees have contended while rebuilding and don't try to say they haven't they won 89 games in an off year for them, they won 94 games in 07, they won 97 games in 06, they won 95 games in 05, they won 101 games in 04. The three World Series that the Yankees won from 1998-2000 were not because of Cashman. The foundation for the team that Gene Michael built was still largely there for those three World Series and some of the guys that Bob Watson brought in were still there.
