Flags are abstractions that stand for armies (or other marauding parties). Until we get away from deifying war & its participants (& the requisite materiel) we are stuck with flags.
Honestly i would support a Navy day because our Constitution specifically calls for a navy. The Const. does not call for a flag. Standing armies were NEVER suppose to exist in a free country. That is why they must be re-appropriated each year.

LOL, Well we would be so lucky as to have advanced aliens to come to us. It's 50/50 whether they would be menacing or beneficial. I would like to think if they got advanced enough they would be past our primitive war like ways.
