  • Peace to the Latin guys here. I'm Filipino. You have to understand that Cha-cha, Rumba, & other types of Latin music were very popular in the Philippines before the Americans came who introduced Jazz & Rock. Latin music is more popular in a region in the Philippines called the Visayas. We always played & danced cha-cha & curacha in the province when i was a kid. The Latin influence is stronger in the Visayas than in Manila & in other parts of the Phils. We use more Spanish words in the Visayas.

  • Choon!

  • Luv ordinary guys.

That's why I love Joe Bataan.

  • If a person want's to say whatever he/she wants to say they can. if he/she wants to say it's a pure thing well more power to them, why get upset over nothing. Just listen to the beautiful joe battaan music and keep reading with out geting upset...Have a great day veryone!

  • You never stop learning if your eyes are open. I heard of Brother Joe Bataan when I was a kid rowing up in the Bronx in the 60's and 70's "What good is a Castle' " but I never knew he was Filipino..I though he was PR from Spanish Harlem....music from the soul is music for the Soul no who make its. Thats why I say you never stop learning.

  • @busythinker1 I grew up in California. I began seriously listening to him starting in the 70's (I was born in the late 60s). I too thought he was PR becaus of his song "Para PR voy." But Latinos in CA loved him none the less.

  • In conclusion...Brown pride!

  • His salsa is sweet!

  • To the homies who are just passin through!!

  • Excellent song, love the Spanish version better.

  • therealflichild forgive was being selfish with Joe;)

  • Whats with the homies? lol This is not a homie kinda song.

  • @Lilly861 Disagree. The song has an "oldies" feel and the "homies" did/do have a passion for "oldies" music.

  • @Lilly861 ta loka la lil liy . you have no clue. you would never expect so cal chicanos to have this asbattle music. WE bumped this here in occupied mexico.

  • @lopeztattoo forgive the ignorance

  • Ok so this is a little before my time but damn this is a GORGEOUS song. They don't make music like this anymore ever anywhere which is so sad. My generation may be the last to be able to appreciate it. Have to ask Moms about this one.

  • This is the for the everyday neighborhood kinda guy. Feel the jazzy, latin beat. close your eyes and your gone....... Life is about the common done uncommonly. Take a minute and don't forget to sing.

  • I much prefer this version

  • Filipinos puttin it dow!!!!! Gotta remember though not Latin the Filipinos do have a Spanish twist to them

  • pinoy

  • This wonderful. Not much into computers, so I just stumbled upon. Orininally from Jersey City, but now in Canada where they don't have much of this stuff. Reminds me of Club de la Juventud con Polito Vega. All I can say is wow. Thank you one and all.

    thanks again :)

  • i love this song.

props to the person that put this up.

i'm pure filipino and I'm an ORDINARY GUY :)

    peace ot all.

  • What is a pure Filipino?

  • Theres no such thing as a pure anything.

  • @2keepingitreal09 he was so proud to find his roots as latino. why filipinos are ashamed of ti??????????/ why???????

  • @1939moreno I realy don't think Filipinos are ashame of having latino bloodline, well not all filipinos has latin descendants ,Spanish bloodline but all will claim, none would claim Negritos because of the color. Most of us know that they are white wash, History shows that when the country were colonized by Spain they gave the country religion and baptized the Native in the priest name thats why some of the people there has Spanish last name . U ask Y ?most want to be White to fit in

  • @2keepingitreal09 man everything you said is to the bone what it really is. That white wash in house mentality many filipinos maintain is bullshit. Its sad to know we percieve ourselves to be a proud race when we barely even know of our true culture and roots, especially in the aeta (negritos), as you said . Im appreciative of inhereting my grandfathers spanish side cus shit I look good lol jokes, but Im diggin deeper to find my native surname I want people to know we exist, black, white, yellow

  • tune

  • i read in wax poetics, he was the first person to rap, but no one would put out his record. he is funky, long live fania records, records period.

  • @djpome Last Poets, Gil Scott Heron were some of the earliest rappers. Check out Pigmeat Markham's "Here Come De Judge". Probably first true rap cut.

  • My BF's father who is Afro-Irish Filipino, knows Joe Bataan, and also plays Latin Jazz/ Funk. I guess Black and Filipino makes Latin. lol

However, I do love his music! I just recently came into Joe Bataan after reading an interview w/ Gil Scott Heron where he mentioned Joe doing La Botella (The Bottle) before he remade it.

  • Black + Filipino =Latin Never thought of that..How cool! What does Dutch + Filipino/American make?

  • Great song with meaningful lyrics. I'm also an Afro-Filipino

  • How great was it for an afro-filipino who grew up w/latinos and sang and talked spanish be embraced and revered by the latino community. As a Puerto Rican myself and raised all my life in New York. Joe Bataan was played constantly in our neighborhoods and homes. And never crossed our minds to be bias of his ethnicity. Matter of fact we embraced it and took him as one of our own. Thanks Joe for loving our music so much, and for giving voice to our sounds...

  • See what happens when you mix filipinos and b lacks together cool vibe cool music filipino chicks need to stop frontin on the pussy.

  • hahaha. I'm Mexica and my lady's Black and Pinay. trust it is a BOOOMB ass mix.

  • good to see mexicans got love for filipinos and blacks. great video.

  • I think he was party PR, but I'm not sure on totally what he is. Funny thing is that some of those lame racist Mexicans, would actually listen to this & talk smack about blacks. straight-upDOTinfo
