  • Metras look way cooler than CalTrains.

  • Is it still up?

  • @nashgallo It has been put on private.

  • Didn't you have a tribute to the F40PH?

  • @nashgallo Yes, I did.

  • What kind of horn is that?

  • @dogrichmancat k5la

  • cool btw i subbed

  • @planeboy173 Must be for patriotic reasons? Also, how come the US doesn't have any DMUs left? They should get some of them! Canada has them!

  • @joe9320 Actually, we do have a number of DMU's.

  • Why is there a U.S. Flag on that train at 1:31?

  • @joe9320 I believe all metra locos do. Not sure why though.

  • @joe9320 cause there america made and america locomotives.

  • @joe9320 there was a us flag on the f-40ph as well at 1:12 but it was near the front of the loco not near the rear like on the mp36 not sure why they put it on mabey cause its an american railroad not sure if amtrak operates the company or not though but they look good dont ya think?

  • will METRA ever get into the Bombardier BiLevel commuter cars like GO Transit, Sounder and so many other RTA's ?

  • don't say that, i can hardly imagine metra with those cars, i think metra is just fine the way it is!

  • @northlanderdude nope, prolly not

  • I like the fact that Metra MP36PH-3s have "Real" locomotive bells... Cant stand those electronic bells on New Metrolink loco's. I fear its only a matter of time before I hear my first surfliner with one.. UGHHHH.

  • right, i dont get the point of digital bells any way, what, is there a shortage of compressed air or something?

  • No just the "Newer is better" theory, sadly..

  • @lennonandlauren I'll second that! They are a unique bunch, the only MP36's to have m-bells!

  • that was sick! nice job mike!

  • i wonder why caltrain has no k5la horns

  • They used to... In fact, the F40's still do and one of their yard switchers still uses its K5LA.

  • Looks like we need some horn info:

-Only the Union Pacific lines Cabcars have K5LAs

-The Heritage Corridor and SouthWest Service lines Cabcars have K5LAs with 2 chimes removed because of clearence problems at Union Station

-All other lines (NCS, MD-W, MD-N, BNSF,RI) Cabcars have K3LAs

-All types of the F40 used by Metra have some form of P5 horn

-All MP36 locomitves have K5LAs with the exception of 401 and 412

  • how much does 1 of those way?

  • Probably around 100 to 120 tons.

  • I did not know that the MP36 had a mars light!

  • at 0:22 the mp36 blew the horn before the metra f40 came into view

  • That was theK3LA on the cabcar. You can also hear the MP36 K5LA at 0:38 .

  • All Metra Cab Cars have K5LA

  • No, they do not. The UP Milwaukee like cabs and a few others have K5LA's but ALL other Metra cabs have K3LA's. You can tell by the sound too. And if you look on the roof, you can see that it is a 3 chime horn.

  • If thats the case its the other way around, every single metra cab car I have seen has a K5LA

  • Dude, trust me, LOOK ON TOP! It is a3 chime horn. LISTEN to the sound. All cabs on this line have K3's as do the ones on the BNSF line and several others.

  • Right, I completly think this is a K3LA in this video but...Every single cab car I have seen , weather on the UP, BNSF, Milwaukee...etc has a K5LA. Great video tho

  • Look at the videos of the BNSF line closer, higher pitched, 3 chime horns. (look at the comments I left on some of the videos.

  • I found out why we both got confused!! Metra has actally REMOVED 2 of the bells off of many of their Cabcar K5LA's to make them K3LA's!!!

  • I see, do you know when this happened, it must have been recently

  • Nice Video Mike!! You ever going to make that DVD or did you scrap it?

  • OOO nice meet. nice job mike :D

  • :D Thanks!
