Bose sucks, I can't beleive the people saying that they are the best in the world, the tiny 3" drivers they use don't even produce the full spectrum of human hearing. Their response rolls off very quickly BELOW 15khz. This makes them sound very muffled. I would not recomend Bose to anyone. Just a way for a company to make money by pure marketing.
You could buy bigger Klipsch or yamaha speakers, you have plenty of space on your room, and the Bose doesn't soung good for that load of money you paid for it.

@LeroyjansenThe problem is that yes Bose life style systems are very expensive, and they are not any better than most of the HTIB's on the market. Like Sony,Panasonic,JVC and Samsung just to name a few. They will all give you the same sub par performance, it's just that Bose is twice or in some cases three times as much as the competitors. None of which are suitable for real home theater.
@Leroyjansen Have you ever heard the Paradigm Cinema 70 speakers? They're about an inch bigger than the D/R cubes, but the difference is that they have a tweeter and mid-range drivers, so compared to Bose's 2 paper drivers, the '70's are much more dynamic. Mix those speakers with a Paradigm SE Sub (which is an actual subwoofer, something the Acoustimass module isn't), a Yamaha RX-V1065 receiver, a Logitech Harmony 900 remote, and you're about the same price as the Bose V35. And it'd pwn the V35.
@Leroyjansen Better speakers are already made. Cambridge audio is making speakers called minx. Those sound way better and they are cheaper. Why making speakers that are tiny and uggly. Why don't make speakers that are big but are a piece of art?

@cato12 Bose is unbeatable....Compared to what? What else have you heard? Check out my videos. Unless you're just a sucker for the Bose name, and don't really care about the sound, you're idea that Bose is unbeatable would change if you heard one of those systems. And, BTW, the speakers in those videos are Paradigm's BUDGET lines. They have 4 more lines of speakers that cost more, with the most expensive costing as much as $16,000 for a set of 7 speakers. Would Bose beat this?
Bang & Olufsen makes some REALLY expensive speakers. They sound "good" but they are far from the best sounding speakers out there. Its more of a status thing more than anything...
@conan1845 While I own B&O's earphones, which are actually decent, you are totally correct. B&O's speakers, while although look amazing, are not high-performance speakers, especially within their price range. I was talking to a salesman at a B&O dealer who was new to the job, and he told me he thought it is weird that people would come in to buy their products without even bothering to listen to them beforehand. It certainly is a "name". But, they are pieces of art, which I think justifies B&O.
@falkenlaser Haha yeah, they're almost works of art! XD
I wouldnt mind having some just to say i have B&O in my house ..but I'd definitely go to other brands to drench my senses. The subwoofer cube is really neat i think ..ive seen it in person but didn't listen to it.
LOL. Thats funny ..and not surprising considering the types of customers in there. Guess sound quality isn't their priority when shopping at B&O lol.
@conan1845 If you want to say you own B&O, then get the A8 earphones. They're $165, making them one of the B&O's most affordable products (less than 1/5 the price of their least expensive speakers). I own them, and they actually do sound good, and are also VERY comfortable. I often forget I'm wearing them.
But, I heard the Beolab 8000s w/ the Beolab 2 subwoofer, plus the Beosound 9000 CD player. Together it was like $14,000. And it was one of the worst setups I've ever heard. Cold and lifeless.
@conan1845 I actually think a $800/pair of Paradigm Monitor 7s powered by a Peachtree Audio Nova amp/DAC, a Paradigm Seismic 10 subwoofer, and an Apple TV, which altogether would be about $4000, would sound better. If not that, a pair of Paradigm Millenia 300s powered by an Anthem A2 amp w/ the Nova as a pre-amp, plus a JL Audio f112 Fathom subwoofer (which BTW is the same price as the Beolab 2. It shows how VERY overpriced the 'Lab 2 is), which would all be about $10,000, would slaughter it.
@conan1845 But, the $25,000/pair speakers I was referring to were Wilson Audio's Sasha (aka the WATT/Puppies). I've heard the W/P 8s (the Sashas are new) powered by Audio Research electronics (probably about $15,000 worth) and I was absolutely floored. I would like to hear the level below, the Wilson Sophias, which are $16,000, to see how they compare, though. There is a diminishing return for your dollar.
But, it sounds retarded when people say "Bose is the best" when stuff like this exists.
You have set up your bose speakers wrong. the top part of the cube speakers is suppose to face outwards so the sound bounces off the side walls. Not face into the room. Same goes for the rears!!! sort it out
You have set up your bose speakers wrong. the top part of the cube speakers is suppose to face outwards so the sound bounces off the side walls. Not face into the room. Same goes for the rears!!! sort it out
i too was once a Bose person, in fact i still love my Bose headphones, but thank god my eyes were opened to the world of speakers before i had the means of purchasing. i am the proud owner of Klipsch, with a pioneer receiver, and for a considerable amount less than Bose, my system blows this one out of the water.
but, being a marketing major, i fully appreciate and understand the following that Bose has created through very clever marketing.
Great set up, I would space the speakers farther apart, but I like a spacious sound! and be sure and watch Battelstar Gallactica, the final battle is awesome! (and run AdaptIQ! many people skip that one... dont! makes a world of difference!
@falkenlaser those Speaker you talk about in every BOSE related video are not as good as you think, my buddys dad has them at his house and they don't have a clear sound I could hear cracking sounds from the speakes and the bass is not that good either, you do realive these post are for the 600$ 2.1 system, not a 7.1 surround sound which costs 20 times as much as a Bose 2.1 system. So GTFO off this thread
i believe you when you say its a 52" tv but why does it look like a 32" tv? i have a similar set up...55" samsung led and bose 5.1 surround w/ ps3/xbox360
@tyzer23 I can tell its at least 40" by comparing the size of the PS3 and the TV. So I'm sure its 52" as mark says it is.
How do you like the Lifestyle Home Theater system? Its quite expensive, I have Bose Companion 5 for my computer and its working perfectly for over 3 years now and still working with no problems. I want this system but the price makes me want to find an alternative, possibly some Mirage speakers or something.
My Paradigm/Yamaha system is worth about $2000; the same price as a Bose Lifestyle 28 and V20 (and sounds 100x better). And, my dream system would be about $150,000. I can't come close to affording that, yet according to your theory, I should hate it. But, I don't.
So, you've been proven wrong.
The reason I, along with many other people, don't like Bose is because we know what other brands are out there, and from experience with these brands, we know Bose is extremely overpriced in comparison.
Idk why everyone hates bose so much. they have great speakers systems. i know they arnt the louadest and all that crap but they are compact, user friendly, and great speakers. We are buying the LS48 system this week along with speakers throughout the house and deck! My dad, basically an expert on music, working as a manager for our towns EMI music companies he is a music fanatic and he agrees that this system is a great system.
LOOK AT MY VIDEOS BEFORE YOU BUY THAT SYSTEM! The reason people don't like Bose is because you can get much, much, much better for the same price. Have you, or your dad, even heard a similarly-priced sound system to the Lifestyle 48? Again, watch my 2 videos about the LS48. Those systems cost the same, but absolutely destroy the LS48 in absolutely every way imaginable: sound quality, volume, and features.
When it comes to buying Bose, Admiral Ackbar would say, "IT'S A TRAP!"
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Why post a video like this on YouTube? I mean, seriously, it's a crappy little web video (all YouTube videos are crappy little web videos ;-) of a TV on a wall and some overpriced, underperforming speakers even you wouldn't buy today, recorded by a cheap microphone so we can hear poor speakers poorly recorded and reproduced on people's little dinky computer speakers.
Most of the time Onkyo is the secret behind Bose because of the WRAT technology which pushes the lows a little lower and the highs a little higher. Onkyo will make any speakers sound really good.
Bose is overpriced but their prices have dropped, and that WOULD be alot better than these shitty tv brand home theater in the box systems, all of those systems are just terrible. If you can get a V20 for like 1400-1500 then it would be a good buy, they do sound pretty good, but DEFINITELY not worth 2 grand. If you want the best performing Just build your system little by little, start off with a 2.1 system, yamaha receiver, polk/klipsche/paradigm speakers, velodyne sub. then build from there.
Jes guys! Il never post a vid after reading those comments ha ha, are the speakers wireless or did you know what you wanted when doing up the room and chased in cables before
Check out my video titled "Bose V20's Worst Nightmare" and "Why Bose Speakers are Overpriced II (The V20 and Lifestyle 28)". Those videos will give you a very good idea of what to get for the price of the V20.
I'm personally a Klipsch fan. I think Bose sounds decent, but does not even come close to Klipsch when you look at how well built klipsch speakers are and how they are designed to give remarkable sound. I can't really say anything about Paradigm because I have never heard any of their speakers in person. I think everyone has a different opinion and taste for sound. That's why you should always listen to find what brands you like and don't like. Take care and enjoy your speakers.
I have a old Philips stereo system (keeping it for sentimental reasons) my dad bought back in 82" with guess what PAPER CONES and it still works great and that stereo's been through hell and back when i was a teen so what's your point
Back in '82 paper is all there was, but now there are so many other options like IMG, Polypropylene and even Kevlar. So Bose has no excuse other than they are cheap and don't want to spend the money on good materials. there are other speaker companies that use better materials and charge less money.
@tbwff I like Rebel,B&W,Klipsch, ADS,Vienna Acoustic,PSB and Mirage. All of these speakers sound real not fake like a certain speaker company that shall remain nameless. I'll give you a hint It starts with a B and ends with a ose.
Bose uses Paper cones and bad electronics and your surround speakers are in the wrong place. They should be on the side walls not behind you. Are your ears behind you? No and nether should your speakers.
bose = cheap drivers and enclosures, unclear sound ,sacrified goob audio for space and visuals touch those small bose speakers cube the result plastic men the KEY Wood no plastic. i prefer 5.1 paradigm cinema 90 wt Receiver onkyo denon marantz total prize 1200$ Bose 2000$dollars O.O
not goob for me is goob for YOU its your money i respect that But its the true just ask any audiophile over BOSE
For decent audio and visuals and space with high prize Bose its the righ choice
For the equivalent sound system Denon is 3 times as expensive & both Paradigm AND Polk are simply inferior!
The quality of sound & the clarity of all channels FAR EXCEEDS ANYTHING Onkyo, Polk or Denon can ever even HOPE to achieve! I've owned them all & the BEST value for the money is Bose!!
The others you mentioned are complete & utter SHIT!
You don't know what the fuck you're talking about!
Watch my videos "Why Bose is Overpriced" and "The Bose Lifestyle 48's Worst Nightmare." Those systems blow Bose away. If you heard them in a blind test, you'd pick these, not Bose.
first of all, i own bose and it sucks. the acoustimas module is made out of 1/4inch LDF and is in a 7th order bandpass configuration. THAT is inferior.
the speakers are PLASTIC with PAPER drivers. my paradigms have POLYPROPELENE woofers and TITANIUM tweeters. they also have better sensitivity and flatter response than bose.
believe me, i know electronics like the back of my hand and bose is complete shit for the price. my bose are collecting dust in storage.
@441greenleaf@441greenleaf kk, i take that back...bose doesnt suck..but its not the best. sure, bose may own sony and philips. but how about warfedale, b&w, paradigm etc. it does NOT own brands like that...therefore....bose is NOT the best. like my comment said....i OWN a bose system, so im not being biased against them. sure, bose does great in some areas. i still havn't found another speaker as small as a bose cube that can deliver the sound that bose does
@cichlidkeeper89 Ok now i take mine back too since there are no bands available like b&w warfedale in Turkey so i dont know them =P, but i can definetly say that Bose is the best brand in Turkey quality wise :)
@441greenleaf Funny when I think Sony or Phillips I don't think audio, I think video, (TVs DVDs and Blu-ray). Saying that Bose is better then either of these companies isn't saying much. They all suck for audio.
@441greenleaf Check out the systems in my videos. Those beat the living shit out of Bose in features and sound quality. And BTW, that's those brand's BUDGET line. This dealer currently has a $16,000 surround system in their reference showroom. And, that's the cheapest system they've ever had in there. Wanna compare this to Bose?
@cichlidkeeper89 lmfao dude... you didnt even watch the vid. like he said what ever he likes matters, not you. your a fucking moron. next time just stfu because noone wants to hear your garbage mumbling. k? thanks fag
for the living room, i would definitely have a bose system but obviously something bigger for a theater room. why do you think you would get something else next time?
thats an awesome setup only thing i would change is the home theatre furniture, u know get a wider and nicer base to put ur ps3 and ur reciever in, that one seems way to small, but all in all awesome setup :)
Nothing's wrong with Bose. They aim towards simplicity and smaller speakers as to not clash with decor; and for their size, they sound absolutely fantastic. Sure, they're expensive and you can get better for the price, but the speakers you would have gotten are large and probably an eyesore. So again, Bose isn't the best, but they do damn good at what they are trying to achieve.
Look at my video titled "Bose Lifestyle 48's Worst Nightmare (Mk.I; Small Speakers)." It has small speakers that annihilate the LS48, plus one of the best subwoofers on the entire market (that's half the cost of the whole system). It also has a Blu-Ray player, 7.1 surround sound. The Lifestyle 48 only has a regular DVD player, 5.1 surround sound, and 2 HDMI inputs. That's ridiculous for a $4000 system.
I checked it out and I do agree there's better than Bose, but you'll need a little knowledge with sound to get speakers like that. From what I've seem, Bose is aimed towards ignorant people who like to throw around their money. Great video (Referring to the Bose Lifestyle 48's Worst Nightmare)
Thanks for the compliment on my video. But, what do you mean by "you'll need a little knowledge with sound to get speakers like that"? Yes I do know that those brands don't advertise, so yes most people won't know about them unless they did some research.
Well I mean for someone who has ZERO technical knowledge or is too lazy or arrogant to do research. For example, my aunt, who has won the lottery, has a Bose lifestyle's system only because she assumed it was the best, not even knowing what else is out there and actually her husband complains about it sounding too "tinny". I agree with him 100% and it sounds nothing like the Bose theater they have at their store. Obviously acoustics come into play in this case too.
Bose sets up their systems so, one, there's no other brand to compare them to. If there was, their speakers would barely sell, and Bose knows this. And, they put them like 3 ft. in front of your face and behind you, turned up really loud, which puts you in the "sweet spot" (this is why they sound so much better in the store). And of course, there's the Bose "name" and the price tag that's screaming "I'M REALLY GOOD!," which is also going to get people; particulary those that want the "status."
So I'm highly tech savvy and pretty audio savvy but I'm young so I haven't experienced that many brands of speakers. I'm moving to a new house and the living room is about 1000 sq feet; what brand of speakers would you recommend; size not being an issue but nothing enthusiast like Wilson Audio or Klipsch Palladium though. I have an old JVC 5.1 110w/channel amp but should I consider an upgrade as well or would it just be a marginal difference in SQ?
Sorry for taking so long getting back to you, but first, about your receiver; does it have HDMI switching? I can tell it already doesn't have 7.1 surround sound (4 surrounds instead of 2), so it's out of date there. Also, does it have Dolby Pro-Logic II?
As for sound quality, I would say there are better receivers out there, especially if they're new.
Anyway, let me know about this and we'll go from there.
It has zero HDMI features but I'm only looking for an audio receiver to use in conjunction with my computer. My receiver is REALLY old and offbrand but it sounds decent imo. I have a newer sony receiver that supports 5.1 and Pro-Logic II as well as DTS. The only thing I dislike about it is that the satellites are cut off from bass so that eliminates me from using my floorstanding speakers since they're just treble. I do have lots of subwoofers on their own amps so thats not an issue though.
I'd look into the Paradigm's Monitor line for speakers. Their smallest bookshelf speakers, the Atoms (which I own), are amazing, and are about $350/pair. For a center channel, I'd get either a Paradigm Monitor CC-190 ($300), or for half the price and a bit smaller, a Paradigm Cinema 110 C (which I also own; I can say it's awesome). As for surrounds, I'd get some Cinema ADPs, which are about $300/pair (I own these, too. They are amazing). But, for $500/pr., the Monitor ADP-190s would be awesome.
Sorry to sound like a dick BTW, I just personally cant stand the stuff. And the way it is marketed, sure it is a well thought out scheme but I feel for the ppl that get suckered for it...
Very Nice theatre set up bro! I have the same Bose system with a 52" LG HDTV. Im running the speakers off of a Harmon Kardon AVR 254 receiver, the only problem I have had with the bose speakers is that it seems that sometimes when I watch movies the dialogue sounds kind of muffled and make it hard to understand... Do you get that sometimes do? Do you know how to correct it?
no u dont have the same bose speakers, u have the direct reflecting speakers with paper drivers dude, these are the jewel cube speakers with titanium drivers, and to answer ur question u can raise the volume of the center speaker through ur harman/kardon, and use optical cable for sound , much clearer and crisper
Bose = Fail, The avrage consumer spends their money their products because they dont know any better. They are clearly overpriced. Although better avrage, people should do some research if they are willing to spend the money.
TBH Bose aren't all that great when it comes to price vs performance.
Bose caters mostly to the home-theater-in-a-box crowd who want something a bit better than that worthless Sony crap you see at Walmart. You're basically paying a premium price for the convenience.
Bose is a lot like Apple in this way. They don't even list frequency response ranges or show any graphs! Yup. Just like Apple. They make it look cool, hype it and it gets eaten it up.
"Bose does not publish specific technical specifications; and as of November 21, 2008 none of Bose's products are THX certified. Bose claims technical specifications are meaningless, since what matters most is what the listener hears." according to wikipedia
I like it, very tidy well done.

falkenlaser 1 year ago
@falkenlaser Haha yeah, they're almost works of art! XD
I wouldnt mind having some just to say i have B&O in my house ..but I'd definitely go to other brands to drench my senses. The subwoofer cube is really neat i think ..ive seen it in person but didn't listen to it.
LOL. Thats funny ..and not surprising considering the types of customers in there. Guess sound quality isn't their priority when shopping at B&O lol.
conan1845 1 year ago
@conan1845 If you want to say you own B&O, then get the A8 earphones. They're $165, making them one of the B&O's most affordable products (less than 1/5 the price of their least expensive speakers). I own them, and they actually do sound good, and are also VERY comfortable. I often forget I'm wearing them.
But, I heard the Beolab 8000s w/ the Beolab 2 subwoofer, plus the Beosound 9000 CD player. Together it was like $14,000. And it was one of the worst setups I've ever heard. Cold and lifeless.
falkenlaser 1 year ago
@conan1845 I actually think a $800/pair of Paradigm Monitor 7s powered by a Peachtree Audio Nova amp/DAC, a Paradigm Seismic 10 subwoofer, and an Apple TV, which altogether would be about $4000, would sound better. If not that, a pair of Paradigm Millenia 300s powered by an Anthem A2 amp w/ the Nova as a pre-amp, plus a JL Audio f112 Fathom subwoofer (which BTW is the same price as the Beolab 2. It shows how VERY overpriced the 'Lab 2 is), which would all be about $10,000, would slaughter it.
falkenlaser 1 year ago
@conan1845 But, the $25,000/pair speakers I was referring to were Wilson Audio's Sasha (aka the WATT/Puppies). I've heard the W/P 8s (the Sashas are new) powered by Audio Research electronics (probably about $15,000 worth) and I was absolutely floored. I would like to hear the level below, the Wilson Sophias, which are $16,000, to see how they compare, though. There is a diminishing return for your dollar.
But, it sounds retarded when people say "Bose is the best" when stuff like this exists.

i too was once a Bose person, in fact i still love my Bose headphones, but thank god my eyes were opened to the world of speakers before i had the means of purchasing. i am the proud owner of Klipsch, with a pioneer receiver, and for a considerable amount less than Bose, my system blows this one out of the water.

How do you like the Lifestyle Home Theater system? Its quite expensive, I have Bose Companion 5 for my computer and its working perfectly for over 3 years now and still working with no problems. I want this system but the price makes me want to find an alternative, possibly some Mirage speakers or something.

PsilocybinDream 1 year ago 2

My dad, basically an expert on music, working as a manager for our towns EMI music companies he is a music fanatic and he agrees that this system is a great system.
hmg9194 2 years ago
LOOK AT MY VIDEOS BEFORE YOU BUY THAT SYSTEM! The reason people don't like Bose is because you can get much, much, much better for the same price. Have you, or your dad, even heard a similarly-priced sound system to the Lifestyle 48? Again, watch my 2 videos about the LS48. Those systems cost the same, but absolutely destroy the LS48 in absolutely every way imaginable: sound quality, volume, and features.

theoriginalskytag 2 years ago

With the money you spend on a lifestyle system you can get a full home theater set up with a tv.
asatruviking 2 years ago
well, i would suggest a component system. sure it requires more components, but it WILL blow bose out of the water.
if you want small speakers, go to paradigm's website and look at the cinema series.
as for a reciever, look at yamaha. they seem to do well with paradigm.
the paradigm cenima series has dedicated tweeters, midranges AND has a REAL subwoofer.
the lifestyle systems only have a bass module and it is NOT a real subwoofer.

Go with Klipsch floorstanders. You will not be disappointed. Bose is still good though. 5 stars!
dukeheat 2 years ago
Watch my videos. Compare those to your Klipsch AND Bose. You'll see why Bose sucks, and possibly even Klipsch. Paradigm wins!
falkenlaser 2 years ago
I'm personally a Klipsch fan. I think Bose sounds decent, but does not even come close to Klipsch when you look at how well built klipsch speakers are and how they are designed to give remarkable sound. I can't really say anything about Paradigm because I have never heard any of their speakers in person. I think everyone has a different opinion and taste for sound. That's why you should always listen to find what brands you like and don't like. Take care and enjoy your speakers.

kalosanin 2 years ago
Back in '82 paper is all there was, but now there are so many other options like IMG, Polypropylene and even Kevlar. So Bose has no excuse other than they are cheap and don't want to spend the money on good materials. there are other speaker companies that use better materials and charge less money.

441greenleaf 1 year ago
@441greenleaf @441greenleaf kk, i take that back...bose doesnt suck..but its not the best. sure, bose may own sony and philips. but how about warfedale, b&w, paradigm etc. it does NOT own brands like that...therefore....bose is NOT the best. like my comment said....i OWN a bose system, so im not being biased against them. sure, bose does great in some areas. i still havn't found another speaker as small as a bose cube that can deliver the sound that bose does
cichlidkeeper89 1 year ago
@cichlidkeeper89 Ok now i take mine back too since there are no bands available like b&w warfedale in Turkey so i dont know them =P, but i can definetly say that Bose is the best brand in Turkey quality wise :)

@441greenleaf Check out the systems in my videos. Those beat the living shit out of Bose in features and sound quality. And BTW, that's those brand's BUDGET line. Nothing's wrong with Bose. They aim towards simplicity and smaller speakers as to not clash with decor; and for their size, they sound absolutely fantastic. Sure, they're expensive and you can get better for the price, but the speakers you would have gotten are large and probably an eyesore. So again, Bose isn't the best, but they do damn good at what they are trying to achieve.
unm0d3r4t3d 2 years ago
Look at my video titled "Bose Lifestyle 48's Worst Nightmare (Mk.I; Small Speakers)." It has small speakers that annihilate the LS48, plus one of the best subwoofers on the entire market (that's half the cost of the whole system). It also has a Blu-Ray player, 7.1 surround sound. The Lifestyle 48 only has a regular DVD player, 5.1 surround sound, and 2 HDMI inputs. That's ridiculous for a $4000 system.
falkenlaser 2 years ago
I checked it out and I do agree there's better than Bose, but you'll need a little knowledge with sound to get speakers like that. From what I've seem, Bose is aimed towards ignorant people who like to throw around their money. Great video (Referring to the Bose Lifestyle 48's Worst Nightmare)
unm0d3r4t3d 2 years ago 2
Thanks for the compliment on my video. But, what do you mean by "you'll need a little knowledge with sound to get speakers like that"? Yes I do know that those brands don't advertise, so yes most people won't know about them unless they did some research.
falkenlaser 2 years ago
Well I mean for someone who has ZERO technical knowledge or is too lazy or arrogant to do research. For example, my aunt, who has won the lottery, has a Bose lifestyle's system only because she assumed it was the best, not even knowing what else is out there and actually her husband complains about it sounding too "tinny". I agree with him 100% and it sounds nothing like the Bose theater they have at their store. Obviously acoustics come into play in this case too.
unm0d3r4t3d 2 years ago
Bose sets up their systems so, one, there's no other brand to compare them to. If there was, their speakers would barely sell, and Bose knows this. And, they put them like 3 ft. in front of your face and behind you, turned up really loud, which puts you in the "sweet spot" (this is why they sound so much better in the store). And of course, there's the Bose "name" and the price tag that's screaming "I'M REALLY GOOD!," which is also going to get people; particulary those that want the "status."
falkenlaser 2 years ago
So I'm highly tech savvy and pretty audio savvy but I'm young so I haven't experienced that many brands of speakers. I'm moving to a new house and the living room is about 1000 sq feet; what brand of speakers would you recommend; size not being an issue but nothing enthusiast like Wilson Audio or Klipsch Palladium though. I have an old JVC 5.1 110w/channel amp but should I consider an upgrade as well or would it just be a marginal difference in SQ?
unm0d3r4t3d 2 years ago
Sorry for taking so long getting back to you, but first, about your receiver; does it have HDMI switching? I can tell it already doesn't have 7.1 surround sound (4 surrounds instead of 2), so it's out of date there. Also, does it have Dolby Pro-Logic II?
As for sound quality, I would say there are better receivers out there, especially if they're new.
Anyway, let me know about this and we'll go from there.
falkenlaser 2 years ago
It has zero HDMI features but I'm only looking for an audio receiver to use in conjunction with my computer. My receiver is REALLY old and offbrand but it sounds decent imo. I have a newer sony receiver that supports 5.1 and Pro-Logic II as well as DTS. The only thing I dislike about it is that the satellites are cut off from bass so that eliminates me from using my floorstanding speakers since they're just treble. I do have lots of subwoofers on their own amps so thats not an issue though.
unm0d3r4t3d 2 years ago
I'd look into the Paradigm's Monitor line for speakers. Their smallest bookshelf speakers, the Atoms (which I own), are amazing, and are about $350/pair. For a center channel, I'd get either a Paradigm Monitor CC-190 ($300), or for half the price and a bit smaller, a Paradigm Cinema 110 C (which I also own; I can say it's awesome). As for surrounds, I'd get some Cinema ADPs, which are about $300/pair (I own these, too. They are amazing). But, for $500/pr., the Monitor ADP-190s would be awesome.
falkenlaser 2 years ago
