Rio de Janeiro is the base of the national confederation, so they play the Brazilian Pro Tour there, besides is a magnificent city. But São Paulo is where TT is most popular, SP have at least 5x more players in its federation, more structure, clubs, etc.. Even minor states like Santa Catarina or Paraná have more players than RJ. And how Brazil is a continental country, is very difficult come and go to this so far cities. Finally, its all about politics. That's the answer!

@newhubiba Many Europeans do. The more closed your forearm is the less power there is. Europeans prefer control in their forehands over more power and spin.
