This movie is amazing. Thank you so much for putting it on YouTube. I saw it when I was a teenager and never forgot it, I have been looking for it online for a long time. I lost my best friend to lung cancer about a year ago and so I can identify with so many of the emotions. The songs are so moving. A wonderful love story.
Thank you for putting up this movie, I read the book back in jr. high and read it over and over until it fell apart. This is the first time I've seen the movie. What a heartbreaking story, and the songs are just beautiful! I've always liked John Denver's music, I will think of them in a much deeper way now.
where do i begin..this movie brought out the raw emotion of all the pain and suffering my mom went thru while dying of bone cancer...she limped around just like in this movie..and had a crutch..I was 16 and I'll never forget my mom telling me that I'll have to the Christmas shopping that year for my 5 other brothers and sister..she was dying and all she could think about was that it was November we had to get ready for Christmas..she died the end of November 1978... ..
I remember the first time I watched this movie, it was with my Mom. I remember us glued to the TV the entire time, and just crying so very hard, I was only 9 years old then, and I can still see that day as if it were yesterday, me crying and telling my Mom how much I love her and I didnt ever want her to Die.. she held me tight, and said I'm not going anywhere for a long while, dont you worry your pretty littleself.
3/2008 my Mom was told she had Brain, and Lung cancer She passed away 7/2008.
@KatBrat4Life I'm so sorry for your loss. I think it's wonderful that you had the opportunity to experience this movie with her and to tell her how much you loved her. I hope that has brought you some comfort. Best wishes.
I was just a kid when this movie came out and all I remembered was loving the songs. Today I watched as a grown Mother of two grown men and I cryed. This movie is timeless. I wish they would show it again. It is the best reminder of how life can be taken when you have so much to live for. Thank you for posting it and taken the time to share it with us.
Thanks for taking an effort to share this movie. I was 16 and still in the Philippines, when it came out of the movie theaters, I was unable to watch it then. I had a brain aneurysm 6 years ago and survived. My husband posted the song in fb and it all came back to me. We just finished watching the movie together in bed. T'was a very good one. The director and all the people behind this movie did an excellent job. I thank GOD everyday for another day spend with my family. Thanks again!
First time I have seen this movie since it came out ! I often have wondered how I could see it again. Thanks for posting it. Forgot what a good movie it was.
I am sitting here crying, it brings back alot of memories for me. I lost my Dad last july six days before his 82 birthday, this is a great movie wish I could find it on DVD.
Thanks for sharing this. I hadn't seen this since I was a kid and earlier today it came to mind. I tried looking for it at Netflix and Amazon without any luck. Then I thought to look on YouTube. It was great to see it again after all these years. :)
sa@theaterjunkie89 saw this years ago and just remebered it, don't know why. Of course i cried not just because of the film but because it makes you think of your own mortality. I needed to cry and this film made me do that.
Hi Julie, thank you so much for sharing this film. I've been trying to track it down for years without success. I love the film, the soundtrack is amazing. I read the book numerous times when I was younger. Thanks again. Gail B
At age 47, finally made it through all of this movie though not without bawling. Except, SAM! Please put a Helmet and some Pants on the baby before you take her motorcycle riding!
I too want to thank you for posting this movie. I remember it from when it first aired when I was 5. My sister was Kate's age and she had the record. The memories of all those John Denver' songs. I've looked for this movie for years. Many thanks!
I read the book, then watched the movie. She died on my birthday, November 10th. So sad. She was so beautiful, inside and out. I wonder how her daughter and husband are doing....
Thanks so much for making this available. I saw this as a kid and never forgot it, especially the scene in the bar where he plays "Sweet Lady" and she cries and the audience forgets to clap. The song has been one of my all time favorites ever since and I have always wanted to see this again. Now, finally, 30+ years later, I got to see it. And I still love that scene.
@braesheather77096 that is my favorite scene too and the one where I lost my kimchee and started to bawl. I never saw it the first time, just read the book. I'm 47 but I think this was only on TV once when I was quite young and my mom would not have let me watch a movie that had hippies and sex in it at that age. I became a huge John Denver fan by the time I was 12 and all these songs, both Denver's and Cliff De Young's versions, were the soundtrack to my life for a while.
Thanks so much, I was born in 1970 and have no idea when I saw this movie (at the drive in with older sisters I think) This movie and the John Denver song has stayed with me since then. Today all those memories have been relived. Thanks for uploading!
Thank you for posting this movie--it was not easy to find. I first saw this when I was 9 back in the 70s and was incredibly moved by it. I thought it was just that it was a tear jerker. Now, I'm 47 and watched it again. I had to do it in two parts because I was crying so hard. I realize now that it touches the whole range of human emotions--love, trust, faith, betrayal--just everything you can think of wrapped up together. It's not just about dying, it's about the scope of human feeling.
Pass the tissues...Thank you so much, what a wonderful gift julielenore! I loved the movie and the tv series. I'm going to look for the tv shows now. Sniffle...
I noticed the the little girl's name from LHONTP too!
@meadow50 I do have the sunshine Christmas on DVD but haven''t found time to uplaod it yet. I would love to see the tv show, but don't think it is available anywhere.
Great movie !!!! I did not realize until the credits at the end of the movie that Lindsey Green Bush, the youngest daughter on Little House on the Prairie TV Series, was the one who played her daughter in the movie.
I never thought I would see this movie again. Thank you julielenore for your charitable and selfless efforts in uploading this poignant and much loved drama. 200 thumbs way up!
