  • I REALLY appreciate the advice on the Century Diamond Heads! I'm ordering it today. I see where Century lists 550mm blades, but think I'm going to go with Funkey 600mm, any suggestions? Think yours are 600mm too? I'd like to have a clutch, but already have the T-Rex 600 mechanics and I'll just put the ESC into slow start mode. Not the same, but close. Oh yea, I did see your other flight video. Very inspiring!

  • GREAT video and beautiful heli. I've put one in the air (two blade stock T-Rex 600, 6S), but want to get my red AS350 into the air with three blade. Good to see that you can run the three blade head on a 6S setup (vs 8S or 10S). I may go with a 10S setup on my red AS350 and then convert the two blade (blue) version to a three blade, but leave it at 6S. Worry about heat/amps however.

  • @flynlyons

    hi,

You can run with 6S without problems at all, Just need to use the correct motor and ESC.

I strongly recommend the Castle HV 80 ( no need for more Amps) and an 1100 KV's motor with 11 teeth pinion or 1220 KV's with 10 teeth pinion....with this you can run low HS, better stability and control.

As well avoid buy cheaper rotorheads, believe me, are not the same...I recommend this Century head, I mounted lot of helis, even making my own heads, the Century Diamond Head is awesome !

  • @krumrick2 Thanks! I'm thinking about the Century 800KV motor (my T-Rex 600 is 170/pinion) so with a 6S setup I should get around 1350 rpm with 16T pinion or 1430 rpm with 17T. I was thinking of the Funkey 3 blade setup Century sells and looking at the Sky-3-600 head from Skyhunter Hobby. But you say go with the Century head? I'd need a 12 to 10mm adapter, but guess there's worse things. The 30-50 3 Blade Diamond is the one I should go with then or do you recommend one in particular?

  • @flynlyons

The Century 800KVs is a good option, and with the 16T pinion seems perfect with 1350/1400 rpm's.

I do not tested yet the Funkey blades, but I will soon.

The Century head can be used in 10mm and 12 mm (already come with an adapter), there is three options:

    Plastic blade Grips.

    Metal blade grips.

and Plastic Blade Grips plus dampered shaft ( semi articulated head).

in my videos i'm using the less expensive ones ( U$S 170 ), the plastic blade grips are good for stability.

  • @krumrick2 Thank You! I'll go with the 800KV Century Motor and the $170.00 3 Blade head like yours. I can probably stay with the CC ICE 100 since it's a 6S setup and can go up to 100A. Don't see the reason to go HV on the ESC?

  • @flynlyons

Nice...post video soon as finish the mods !...

You are right about the Ice 100 vs HV 80 ( or 110/120), just I recommend in case future upgrades in motor Etc.

Btw...I mentioned the flight time...up to 9 minutes with old EVO 5000maH battery.

Did you see my last video of this AS350 in open field and forward flights ????

  • Hello Manuel, another nice job! can you tell me the gear ratio in that mechanic, for you to get 1450 RPM (HS) on 650 KV with 6s?

  • @MrPm631370

    Hi,

    Sorry the delay...to busy !.

the gear ratio is the original from the scale mechanics by Century ( Hawk 30/50), just change the Nitro engine for the Brusless motor, there is a video in my channel in which can see all the mod.

  • Nice job! Can't imagine how that heli gets off the fround with 1450 rpm headspeed, but then again, I am still learning cp helis. i do know that the bigger the blade, the lower the headspeed though. I have flown in at least 2 of the AS 350's... nice choppers!

  • @stot2614

You are right, bigger the blades better the lift capacity, and lower the HS means more stability.

  • Hi Manuel!

As usual, your building are at high level! =) I must say, very beautiful helicopter

    and it's so stable.

Btw, love the way you transform the Align blades.

    You are my inspiration!!

    Regards

    Roger

  • @RogerGostasson

    Hi Roger.

Again thanks for the kind words my friend !.

You know...I think that modifications help in stability to, I flew a few without that and are not so smooth.

Indeed this bird is stable, so nice to fly than watch !

    Manuel

  • incredible.. well done!.

  • Just GORGEOUS! Nice flying too.

  • Very nice model. The 3 blades head seems a rigid one, the blades seems also rigid . Am I right? So long.

  • @gaetanboiv

    Hi,

Yes, is a rigid head, the blades are Align 600mm modified at the tips, indeed a nice fly and no electronics to stabilization.

  • @krumrick2 Thanks for the fast reply.

I like a lot the plastic blades. On the 500's it is easy, no electronic stabilization, no exp, nor DR. They are resilient and now available with semisymetrical section.

Do you think you can reduce the head speed to 1200-1300 ? At this ;low revs, you probably should have longer tail rotor blades but the sound and the scale effect would be even greater.

    Very Nice model, anyway.

    So long

    Gaétan

  • @gaetanboiv

    Hi...sorry I miss this reply !.

I think that I can reduce the HS to 1300 without need to use larger tail blades ( to much out of scale, and not good appearence to). will test this idea till weekend.

    Btw...I really love this heli...

    Manuel

  • Awesome build. Looks fantastic on the ground and in the air, seems to fly very well also. Great job :-)

  • @1BLADESHY

    hi mate,

Thanks again, I really like this heli, still working to improve mechanics and details, believe me... after the video is even better static and in fligth.

  • I know. I am just afraid I will not be able to set up the head properly.

  • Congratulations. The Heli looks awesome. I have the same one but I don't have 3 blade head. I am entertaining the idea but do not want to put electronic stabilization. Btw how did you do the doors, they are great. The hinges !!!

  • @sirob1fly

    Hi,

Please...your heli deserve a three blades head, buy the Century Diamond Head of this video and I fly this one without electronic stabilization...Btw, almost all my helis I fly only in mechanical setup.

Stay conected to my channel, follow my videos, I will upload a series of videos building this one, included the door process.

  • hi manuel, how do you fly heli's, in rate mode or heading hold! this flies really cool!

  • @jbx907

    hi James,

I always fly in RATE ( Normal) mode, I do not like the way of Heading Hold for scale flight.

  • @krumrick2 i think its very hard to setup rate mode! do set it up on pivot tables too?

  • @krumrick2 can you give me a tip setting up in rate mode... should i use a steady rpm or trotle from 50% stick up?

  • @jbx907

Sorry james...miss that one to !.

I always use the throtle curve 0 t0 100 , never governor mode.

  • The most stable heli I think I have ever seen!...and zero ground effect!.... Three axis gyro?

  • @PATROLMAN2056

Nice question !!!...in the video is not gyro stabilized, only mechanical setup, i'm not tested yet in open field and fast forward flight in windi days, usually when the stability problems appear.

I installed the GUI 365 three axis gyro, but this unit is to sensitive to vibrations and prone to fail because that, so I reduced the Aileron and Elevator gain to 0%, only the rudder gyro is active...and this work really nice as you can see in the video the tail is rock solid.

  • FPS it.

    Please.

  • wow very nice the details is awesome

  • @laeme2259

    Thanks Alfie,

This fuselage come with lot of details, I just opened the doors painted the blades and others minor ones.

But...you know me, I will a cool work on heheh!.

    Manuel

  • This might be one of your best.

  • @jauchiu

I hope so....the AS350 is a beautiful machine, is not a war machine, does not have retractable landing gear... clean look...none of this matter...is one of the best helis ever.

  • goood job Krumrick2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MrPorichis

Thanks man...Btw, your BO105 is amazing to...the retractable landing light, the rear cargo door ( included the magazines !), awesome detailed work....almost forgot the pilot with the head sinc with the rudder inputs...following your build.

    Manuel

  • @krumrick2 Thank you Manuel!!!

  • Nice work i know it will look even better when you finish

  • @bladerunner469

    Thanks man,

This is my heli, every day I like more, nice work of the guys of Century...

  • Fantástico, lindo helicóptero.

    Parabéns pelo trabalho.

  • @zecamera

Valeu Antonio, vamos fazer esse video no capricho no final da semana, junto do pequeno do Alfie ???

  • Awesome!!!

  • @TheLipRipp3r

Indeed a really nice heli, I love it !!

  • I need a stable heli with a real camera. For news reporting. Can you design one?

  • @westcoasthaase

Send a pm with your e-mail, I can give you a nice tip about.

    regards,

    Manuel

  • Fantastic! (You have me aching for a 3-blade head - electric conversion w/ clutch for my Ecureuil now :-D ). Beautiful.

How's the GAUI FBL system working out for you on this big bird?

    -Patriek

  • @pvaneijck

    Really nice question Patriek,

YESS...this heli deserve a three blades head, the one of the video is from Century to, in fact the whole mechsis, they have three options, this is the cheaper one, the others two one with metal blade grips, the last one is semiarticulated with dampers.

Now, the Gaui 365 is not good, to much prone to fail with vibes, in this video the gain of the flybarless is 0% in Aileron and Elevator, the heli is flying ONLY in mechanical setup, and flying good!

  • Ohhh !! This helicopter look so good. You make it fly brilliantly too.

  • Looks pretty good to me, how much throtthe percentage are you running?

  • @2010GVMC

    Another nice question,

The motor is the Neu Motors 1910 650 KV's running on 6S 5000mhA battery, the head Speed (HS) at 1450.

The throtle in midle stick at 80%, because the motor had a good torque the Pitch is high (6 degress at midle stick).

Take a look at the build videos of this heli in my channel. In the video I fying with the FBL deactivated, only in mechanical setup, the low HS give a good stability.

    Manuel

  • @krumrick2

Thanks for the info, so this is a .50 size heli (600size)

  • @2010GVMC

Is intended for 50 size ( 600) mechanics, but this fuselage is really big, had the same size of my Agusta 109 90 size, is 12 cm longer than the Thunder Tiger AS355 ( and wider to).
