    Schnitzholzritzenschlitzer.

Thats a example for a german "Zungenbrecher"

  • Zehn zottelige Ziegen ziehen zusammen zweiundzwanzig Zentner Zucker zu zwei zappelnden Zöllner. Zusammen ziehen zwölf ziegen zweiunzwanzig zentner zucker zum Zeppelin. Zwischenzeitlich zieht Zollobermeister Ziegel zwei Zeppelin Zeitungen. Ziegel zitiert: "Zoologe Zimmermann zerstörte Zeppelin-Zugangs-Terminal!".

  • You look like Elliot from scrubs

  • Hey here's a qood practising sentence:

Zehn Ziegen zogen zehn Zentner Zucker zum Zoo.

  • Your "Er hat das Bild gezeichnet" was just perfect :)

  • Almost perfect =)

  • du bist so schon who ever doing that video

  • Wohooo... an american girl intonating the "ch" correctly... Absolutly awesome <3 (and yes, I used google translate for intonating and I still think it's wrong *g)

Is german a difficult language for "not native speakers"?

  • really good

  • You speak like a native !!! Just brilliant!

    Greets from Germany.

  • Your german pronunciation is so good, for an englisch speeking person ;)

  • du bist sehr hubsch

  • I love your pronunciation!

  • Its pronounced Zed, not Zeee, Zed! lol, jk/ great vid. thanks!

  • @Redstick27 Zet!

  • @Redstick27 In the UK it is. In US English, however, it's Zee.

  • Good effor dear! well done!!

  • Dear "messengerangel",

I've got a practical German sentence with some "Z" for practice! It's an alliteration, check it out: Zehn zahme Ziegen ziehen zehn Zentner Zucker zum Zoo!

Lass mich bitte wissen was du davon hälst!!! ;-) Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland!!! :-*

  • Viele Grüsse aus Deutschland.. und zwar aus der schönen Stadt Köln

Wollt mich mal bedanken für die Videos und deine wunderschöne Stimme :-)

  • GOOD CHANNEL. PLEASE CHECK OUT MY GERMAN CLASS IN A 3D ENVIRONMENT. YOU WILL LIKE IT.THANXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • sie ist eine schöne Frau

  • Sie sind sehr niedlich!!!

  • Hallo,

Ich möchte sehen dich nackt in deinem nächsten Video bitte.

    Danke.

  • @shellhetherington Und ich möchte deine Wortstellung verbessern.

  • Oh my gosh! All the time I was wondering what your name should mean. It just didn't make any sense when you read it in German. (although "messen" & "gerangel" are german words!) But of course... it's english ! :D

  • You lookz YUMmies! :D

  • "Ich habe keine Zeit" is in south-west german: "I hebb kai Zitt!"

  • Ich sage wohl eher " 'ch 'ab kein' Zeit" xD Und ich spreche Hochdeutsch....

  • Ich sage wohl eher " 'ch 'ab kein' Zeit" xD

  • Hat mir gerade ein Amerikaner gesagt, wie ich mich im deutschen artikulieren soll?

Sachen gibt's, die gibt's gar nicht

  • It was better to translate as wordly as possble, not to confuse our american firends.

    He drew = er zeichnete

He has drawn = er hat gezeichnet

while americans prefer the first, Germans use to prefer the second tense.

But both works - english is a germanic language !

  • much better:D

  • i think in the correct tense "he drew the picture" would be more like "er zeichnete das bild"...but this form isn't used often in germany......so that would just be the correct 1to1 translation of the sentence

  • also was nochmal wissenswert wäre ist, dass manche Deutsche auch "Ick hab' heute keene Zeit" sagen^^

  • @xXDarthStalkerXx

Det sagn doch bloss de Berliner - der Soggse soochd "Üsch hob geene Zeid"

German dialects was an extra lesson....

  • .........

  • this one is so formal :(

  • i am amazed at how good your pronounciation actually is, i really wasnt sure if youre german showing english speaking people how to speak german or the other way around.

and as i sad before, i'd be the guy pointing out mistakes german people make speaking german.

  • nope, i have to disagree here.

im a fan of speaking and learning languages myself (and therefor often a bit picky on mistakes) and i can guarantee you, your sample phrase "er hat das bild gezeichnet" sounds as german as possible. period

and i dont mean in the exaggerated formal way of speaking, i mean the every day speaking, the "hey, did you draw that picture?" "yeah, its my first one, you like it? way.

  • girl, don't judge yourself so hard. you talk like a native speaker. and i can tell that.

  • Sprichst besser Deutsch als so mancher Deutscher! Schon krass, was man durch Übung erreichen kann. Bin beeindruckt. Eigentlich kein Akzent mehr zu hören.

    MfG

  • Did you know, that there are even more "z"'s hidden in some german words, altough they are not written like so...

    f.e. Hals or Cicero

:-) thihi... have fun with that!

  • du bist so hübsch !

  • ah here we go. youre getting better while you do videos, which is also better for the viewers, imho. youre also making details very clear like how "habe" is often shortened to "hab". great work

  • "Zwischen zwei Zwetschgenbäumen zwitschern zwei Schwalben."

When you can do that, you've got it. ;-)

  • @schockimocki "zwetschgenzweigen" heisst es eigentlich

  • @BenBenjiro

    ist ja noch schlimmer :-D

  • pssst: ihre schreibt man groß! "Danke für Ihre Aufmerksamkeit!" (Höflichkeitsanrede) ;)

A good phrase to practise the Z is this tongue twister: Zehn Ziegen zogen zehn Zentner Zucker zum Zoo.

  • A little correction by a native german speaker: it's "Ihre Aufmerksamkeit" and not "ihre". That's because the formal you and your (Sie/Ihnen and Ihr/e/n/m/r/s) are always capitalized to make a difference between ihre (their/her) and Ihre (formal your). Aber dein Deutsch klingt echt toll, das kriegen sicher nur die wenigsten Fremdsprachler so hin. Großes Kompliment.

  • Du machst echt coole Videos und dein Deutsch ist super. Ich hab dich zuerst für eine Deutsche gehalten und dachte nur:"Wow, spricht die perfekt Englisch" ;-)

  • lovely. you look so proud when talking german, but you need to pronounce the Z harder. Just imagine there is a T before the Z. "tZeit". Maybe that will help.

  • Das war prima. Danke!

  • TSeit :D:D:D:D:D xD --> zehn ziegen ziehen zehn zentner zucker zum zoo

  • @Hellmars zum Zittauer !

  • Comment removed

  • What happens if a american say the name Franz Liszt?

  • Zehn zahme Ziegen zogen zehn Zentner Zucker zum Zwickauer Zoo! :)

  • Hmm, I learned German for 6 years, yet noone ever told me about "habe -> hab'!" I sure wish you made these videos for me back then... :D

  • German aside, I've always enjoyed listening to you speak. So many people nowadays grow up with their own form of vernacular (Thug/Jive, Purposeful broken English, etc...) that it's rare to hear such concise well spoken English.

I'm still studying German myself, so I always appreciate your videos. I hope you do even more! =D (By the way, your english word equivalent for pronunciation is really helpful, like "Cats" for the Z sound, or whispering "Yes" for the CH sound.)

  • Hi Jen, schön, dass du wieder da bist - hatte dich gaanz doll vermisst....

  • That's totally new to me---two videos in one day. Wow!

Your pronunciation was great. And I really mean it like I said it! I don't see any necessity to say the sentences a second time 'cause there were just perfect.

  • Your German pronunciation got perfect... although your English pronunciation got a bit... krautish (-:

  • yay! back to doing German lessons!!! awesome, keep it up!!! :)

  • Finally the video/audio sync is back! I´ve almost thought you´re an ventriloquist.

  • @hirsebrey Whenever I do a "quick capture", that's always what happens. Don't know why! But I have to save some memory on my computer for other things besides Youtube videos. Even after you erase them, I think it still messes with your computer's memory.

  • I love your videos, but ... (OK, it's just what I think) ... Er hat das Bild gezeichnet = he had drawn the picture - He drew the picture = Er zeichnete das Bild

    Scheiß Grammatik ;)

  • @MickeyKnox Hey, this is a German PRONUNCIATION lesson! That's the way Germans typically form the past tense when they SPEAK! ;) You almost never hear anyone say, "Er zeichnete das Bild." Do you?

  • @messengerangel Ja du hast Recht, es ging mir ja auch nur um die korrekte Übersetzung :) War ja nicht böse gemeint.

  • @MickeyKnox Und meine Antwort war auch nicht böse gemeint, du. : )

  • @MickeyKnox Und meine Antwort war auch nicht böse gemeint, du. : )

  • @MickeyKnox OK du :)

  • @MickeyKnox

He had drawn the picture = Er hatte das Bld gezeichnet

He has drawn the picture = Er hat das Bild gezeichnet

He drew the picture = Er zeichnete das Bild

...though I agree with you "Scheiß Grammatik"

  • @HesseJamez Ich sag ja schon gar nichts mehr :D

  • @MickeyKnox Good man! I am training you all very well. ;) (Just kidding of course.)

  • @messengerangel thank you so much for this, i learned a lot from this video. first of all i learned that Germans say hab' as oppose to habe, so that helped tremendously. also i learned the "zeicnen" and the plural form, plus the past tense! what more can someone ask for? : D

  • @messengerangel yes mommy :P ;)

  • @HesseJamez OK, that does it! You Germans are getting a English grammar lesson next week, and I'll explain the "Present Perfect" form of English to you. It's not equivalent the German "Perfekt" form. The Germans use the "Perfekt" (er hat gezeichnet) rather than the Präteritum form (er zeichnete) in their everyday speech in the place of the English "simple past" form (he drew a picture). The "present perfect" form in English (he has drawn the picture) would only be used under certain (cont...)

  • @HesseJamez (cont..) ---> circumstances, as would the "past perfect" (he had drawn the picture). I'll explain when you use the "present perfect" and when you use "simple past" in an upcoming video. And again, this is not meant in a mean way. I like you guys. :)

  • @messengerangel

Du bist viel zu lieb, um jemals gemein zu sein, das wissen wir doch*g*

    Wie übersetze ich denn dann

    1) Er hatte das Bild gemalt

    2) Er hätte das Bild gemalt (cond.)

    ????

Ich bin Deutscher, kapiere aber unsere komische Grammatik selber nicht...

  • @HesseJamez

    1) He had painted the picture. (past perfect)

    2) He would have painted the picture. (conditional II simple)

Und ich kann auch manchmal ziemlich gemein sein. Aber danach habe ich immer ein schlechtes Gewissen. :)

  • @messengerangel

    nönö...so einfach ist das nicht...

"He would have painted the picture " müsste "Er würde das Bild gemalt haben" sein....oder einfacher gefragt: Wie unterscheide ich denn im Englischen cond.1 und past perfect???

PS: Du kannst vielleicht gemein sein, aber es ist unmöglich dir böse zu sein - dafür siehst du einfach viel zu lieb aus !!!

  • Sehr gute Aussprache! Und so viele Videos in kurzer Zeit - ich bin geflasht!

Very good pronounciation! And so many Videos in short time - im flashed!

  • you look perfect, very good lesson.
