Oh my gosh! All the time I was wondering what your name should mean. It just didn't make any sense when you read it in German. (although "messen" & "gerangel" are german words!) But of course... it's english ! :D
i think in the correct tense "he drew the picture" would be more like "er zeichnete das bild"...but this form isn't used often in germany......so that would just be the correct 1to1 translation of the sentence
i am amazed at how good your pronounciation actually is, i really wasnt sure if youre german showing english speaking people how to speak german or the other way around.
and as i sad before, i'd be the guy pointing out mistakes german people make speaking german.
im a fan of speaking and learning languages myself (and therefor often a bit picky on mistakes) and i can guarantee you, your sample phrase "er hat das bild gezeichnet" sounds as german as possible. period
and i dont mean in the exaggerated formal way of speaking, i mean the every day speaking, the "hey, did you draw that picture?" "yeah, its my first one, you like it? way.
Sprichst besser Deutsch als so mancher Deutscher! Schon krass, was man durch Übung erreichen kann. Bin beeindruckt. Eigentlich kein Akzent mehr zu hören.
ah here we go. youre getting better while you do videos, which is also better for the viewers, imho. youre also making details very clear like how "habe" is often shortened to "hab". great work
A little correction by a native german speaker: it's "Ihre Aufmerksamkeit" and not "ihre". That's because the formal you and your (Sie/Ihnen and Ihr/e/n/m/r/s) are always capitalized to make a difference between ihre (their/her) and Ihre (formal your). Aber dein Deutsch klingt echt toll, das kriegen sicher nur die wenigsten Fremdsprachler so hin. Großes Kompliment.
Du machst echt coole Videos und dein Deutsch ist super. Ich hab dich zuerst für eine Deutsche gehalten und dachte nur:"Wow, spricht die perfekt Englisch" ;-)
lovely. you look so proud when talking german, but you need to pronounce the Z harder. Just imagine there is a T before the Z. "tZeit". Maybe that will help.
German aside, I've always enjoyed listening to you speak. So many people nowadays grow up with their own form of vernacular (Thug/Jive, Purposeful broken English, etc...) that it's rare to hear such concise well spoken English.
I'm still studying German myself, so I always appreciate your videos. I hope you do even more! =D (By the way, your english word equivalent for pronunciation is really helpful, like "Cats" for the Z sound, or whispering "Yes" for the CH sound.)
That's totally new to me---two videos in one day. Wow!
Your pronunciation was great. And I really mean it like I said it! I don't see any necessity to say the sentences a second time 'cause there were just perfect.
@hirsebrey Whenever I do a "quick capture", that's always what happens. Don't know why! But I have to save some memory on my computer for other things besides Youtube videos. Even after you erase them, I think it still messes with your computer's memory.
I love your videos, but ... (OK, it's just what I think) ... Er hat das Bild gezeichnet = he had drawn the picture - He drew the picture = Er zeichnete das Bild
@MickeyKnox Hey, this is a German PRONUNCIATION lesson! That's the way Germans typically form the past tense when they SPEAK! ;) You almost never hear anyone say, "Er zeichnete das Bild." Do you?
@messengerangel thank you so much for this, i learned a lot from this video. first of all i learned that Germans say hab' as oppose to habe, so that helped tremendously. also i learned the "zeicnen" and the plural form, plus the past tense! what more can someone ask for? : D
@HesseJamez OK, that does it! You Germans are getting a English grammar lesson next week, and I'll explain the "Present Perfect" form of English to you. It's not equivalent the German "Perfekt" form. The Germans use the "Perfekt" (er hat gezeichnet) rather than the Präteritum form (er zeichnete) in their everyday speech in the place of the English "simple past" form (he drew a picture). The "present perfect" form in English (he has drawn the picture) would only be used under certain (cont...)
@HesseJamez (cont..) ---> circumstances, as would the "past perfect" (he had drawn the picture). I'll explain when you use the "present perfect" and when you use "simple past" in an upcoming video. And again, this is not meant in a mean way. I like you guys. :)
"He would have painted the picture " müsste "Er würde das Bild gemalt haben" sein....oder einfacher gefragt: Wie unterscheide ich denn im Englischen cond.1 und past perfect???
PS: Du kannst vielleicht gemein sein, aber es ist unmöglich dir böse zu sein - dafür siehst du einfach viel zu lieb aus !!!

Sachen gibt's, die gibt's gar nicht
xXDarthStalkerXx 1 year ago
It was better to translate as wordly as possble, not to confuse our american firends.
He drew = er zeichnete
He has drawn = er hat gezeichnet
while americans prefer the first, Germans use to prefer the second tense.
But both works - english is a germanic language !
