@smihud Oh sorry at 1:58 u said that u couldn't join cuz u were a single parent but u could give up custody of your daughter & it was no big deal/only a piece of paper & that your dad helped u out with it but I didn't watch the whole vid so maybe I missed something.
@pongo713 Hey Pongo I leave on April 10th, but I see that you leave earlier congrats :D (have fun in Basic lol) and I got Client Systems for my job. It was my dream job and I got it.
@mynameismoso626 I leave on April 10th, and it is amazing to know that all the hard work I have put into getting in the Air Force is being payed off. I started my Enlistment process back in July of last year. I had to loose alot of weight and study really hard for the ASVAB thats why it took longer for me. But besides that regularly working out, maintain a good diet, and staying out of trouble is what my main goals are until I leave for BMT.
@DJManny1281990 thx for the tip any suggestions on how to study for the asvab iam in good shape and all that but the asvab im taking on feb15 which is my birthday and i think i need more time to practice
@Jiggerjinn ya im at fort gordon and i talked to a couple air force soldiers tgere and i asked if they thought it was harder than what theyve heard about army and they said it was harder mentally. like if your shoe laces werent right over left each time then youd get day1 restart. stupid stuff but i guess smart to do for certain jobs that you must have attention to detail on whatever the hell air force does
cool story, im currently looking at the air force in australia, and just like you iv hit a few snags, its just inspiring to see what a bit of perseverance can do :)
Congratulations to you!!!! Any advice or study tips for the asvab...it's also a dream for me to join. I took the asvab practice and scored a 49. Then I got a new recruiter because my current recruiter had to leave. I took the test again and scored a 60. I am having test anxiety and its been 5 years since i have been out of high school. Help! Please and thank you.
@desolateblack87 I thought I'd answer your question. It's perfectly fine that you've been out of high school 5 years. I stronly suggest that you go to amazon and order the ASVAB For Dummies, ASVAB AFQT For Dummies & The Ultimate Basic Training Guidebook: Tips, Tricks, and Tactics for Surviving Boot Camp by Michael C. Volkin. It will prepare you greaty. And don't worry, everyone goes though the anxiety phase. LOL!
Any advice to prepare for the asvab? I took a practice test in my recruiter's office and got a 49. Then my recruiter had to leave and I got a new recruiter and took the test again and scored a 60. Any advice? I really want to score high. Please and thank you!
Smihud, I congratulate you for being the strong woman you are. I come from a military family (my dad being a marine for 15 years, and grand dad a Korean War Vet). I'm struggling with losing weight as well...
I Have to be at 160lbs because i'm 5'4. I started at 188lbs, and started doing P90X and ive gone down to 179, im trying hard and im determined to be in the Air Force! I'm having a hard time with my Math though so i gotta Study Study Study! :/

With all do respect im glad you are not active duty. You are to lazy, you put stuff off then put it off. Thats why you belong in reserves. Stay there and be a weekend warrior.
Thanks for not giving up on your dream. And thank you for joining the military. I'm active duty air force so if you want to compare or get advice let me know.
Airforce reserves is when you are in the airforce, you get sent back to home. But the USAF can call you anytime for their needs in afghan, baghdad, etc...
Really enjoyed your video. I just joined the Royal Australian Air Force in March this year, and like you and so many others, had some dramas along the way. No where near as full on as yours but I understand how you must've felt when you got in, pretty awesome hey. I love the RAAF! Good luck with becoming a permanent member mate.
I am 16 years old and want to join the AF when I graduate, I used to weight 361lbs, I now weight 285 which is still to high to join(has to be 220 for a 6'5 person), how did you lose your weight and any help you can give me would be awesome!!!!!!
My dad and both my sisters went into the air force. Last year I decided I wanted join as well. For several reasons. Since I've stopped taking college classes I feel like I am going nowhere. I can't seem to finish anything I set out to do and I feel that is because of my lack of discipline. At the time I was unhealthy, overweight, and I felt my knees going out because of it. Since making this decision I've lost 85lbs. I am 5 lbs away from the weight requirement(220lbs max, I am 6'3").
k, do you have to be good at maths to join the air force, i am dyslexic but not by much, just a little. i am good at English, and S&E. is there another way to join if im not good at maths.
reserves are a GREAT way to get your foot in the door. and if you want to you can go into full active duty. resevres will and do count as prior service. :)
@smihud There are plenty of programs and child services for single parents. Know plenty of them that are active and still do it. You are not alone in ur situation. Plus age wise?? We get plenty of "old" new peeps that decided to join late. some of them almost as old as me and I been in almost 11. Lol
@mushmouth1981 I was told from by several recruiters that they are NOW NOT allowing single parents to enlist as ACTIVE, that is why I am RESERVES not because I feel as a single parent I could not physically do it.You also CAN NOT enlist at the age of 28 as ACTIVE.
@smihud Damn, they must have changed the age limits since i been in. As for the single parent deal, Imma look into that cause that's a first. i know we force shaping and all, but that sounds like so bull. Remember, believe half of what the recruiters say, because they lie, alot. I'm still looking for mine so I can kick his ass. Lol
@smihud i just have one question am a senior right now and am waiting for my asvab score 2 get bac....wat is the actual asvab score u need to get to join the air force???
Sweet. I made the weirdest decision too, I joined. I am Delayed Entry to ship in November. I'm in the process right now in trying to get in to the National Guard. Wish me luck! <3
