Bats evolved from arboreal mammals that developed membranes for gliding and eventually evolving the wing. There are only 2 species of bird that are nocturnal (owls and Nighthawks) The only flying predator would have been them. BUG-galore!

Though you are right in your first statement, Creationists make one great inference; Darwinists make many.

And I would beg to disagree... Creation and the Bible contradict nothing about how the world works. They do, however, null some scientific theories. (Theories, which are man's current "best stabs" at answering a set of observations. Although they are well thought-out and supported, they are constantly subject to review and reconstruction when new evidence appears).

In Leviticus there is a mistranslation that subverts the original word for flying creature, so bats are described as birds. The point I am trying to get across is that language can be played with, but should not be and creationists have a nasty habit of making deliberate distinctions between the terms Scientists and researchers/studies in an attempt to claim that the knowledge has come from them (the creationists) rather than from the evil evolution supporting scientists.

Silly. God didn't need to produce the whole universe in moments to still be God. Science only uncovers more and more wonders of God's creation--why is this not obvious. God made the earth in exactly the way we see in science. We don't need to tie it to the myths of Genesis--which are completely reliable and literate fictohistorical accounts--for it to be real. You people just want reality to conform to your fairy tale.

I like the 'scientists are always wrong' angle: 'Scientists thought X, they are wrong, STUDIES showed Y is true!'

Wouldn't the studies be made by scientists? Who else would have made the studies? Census collectors? Phone pollsters? Incorrect hypotheses (if scientists did assume they just nursed and cared randomly, which post-1800s seems a little unlikely) mean nothing. Science is about discovering truth. Its only an issue if the scientists rejected the findings in light of the evidence.

Bats (like many other animals) finding their young is perfectly compatible with evolution. Protecting one's genetic line (not just the herd/swarm/group's) is a vital evolutionary principle!

I was just illustrating a point. Why were animals (people too) EVER used as "burnt offerings"? Religion makes no sense. Realize that the people that created it were simple, had no science, most no education. In thousands of years you would think people would now know better. But they don't. The Law has been fulfilled... The blood of animals was once required to redeem individuals; we are incapable of perfection, which God requires. However, the Lord's blood has been shed for us and now covers that Propitiation Cover; we may meet with God, redeemed by His blood, which is far more precious and covering than that of animals.

Also, you miss the point of the near-offering. Our first love should be the Lord. Abraham chose his love for God over Isaac, and out of love God stopped him.

GoodManinCNY, we were not created imperfectly. God saw that His creation was good. Our fall determined our separation from Him; sin and death entered the world because man chose "good and evil" over God's Life. The Lord's sacrifice on the cross, the redemption and regeneration of man, is only part of the story; it is God's move to regain man, to bring us back into His original purpose.

Love abides in the center of God's economy, for Christ is the Center of all things, and Christ is love.

Good and evil came from the same tree. Yes, we can be good without the Bible, but to simply live a good life is to partake of death, as to live an evil life is also to partake of death. The principle of the world is right vs. wrong; the matter of Christianity is Life. For good is often determined by the background and environment of an individual--it is a gray, undefined area. We must live not according to our own definition of good, but by the Life of the Spirit abiding in us.

Of course evolution explains altruism. And the fact you've said that suggests you don't really know what evolution is.

As a species that lives in groups, we have to be able to get on in the group to survive. This means that, on a basic level, if we do someone a favour, for example, provide someone with food, there is more chance of that favour being reciprocated. And this means we are at an advantage to those who wouldn't engage in altruism.

Not hard to work out.
