@skedtm It's called Suppressing fire, a typical move by most military's across the world. Put yourself on the receiving end, would you wana poke your head up over your cover to squeeze off a few rounds, while about 500 rounds per minute are heading your direction? It is a waste of ammo, but its better to be safe than sorry.

@MasterFuck3000 to keep them pinned down, usually they do this because its followed by air support. Otherwise, it just keeping fire on them so that they can keep the enemy right where they want them. Im only learning this shit from watching other videos.

@MasterFuck3000 No its not ineffective. If bullets are flying in your direction, only a dumbass would risk moving in such open areas. The Taliban are very well trained, but even they will still fear the bullets flying at them. They're kept on the spot until artillery or air support takes them out. And the only reason they refuse to give up, is because they believe in what they're fighting for as much as the next US or British troop.

They're not gonna risk letting the enemy advance any further to the position they already have, it then becomes dangerous for any kind of support to help out. Its not wasting ammo like an amateur, and its a bit disrespectful to say that. Theres reason to all that they do, and if you dont understand it, then dont criticise it..

Seriously, the enemy are very well trained, and of course the pose a fucking threat to the soldiers. Avoiding casualties is a prime concern. This isnt COD mate, if you get shot its not gonna be classed as taking one for the team. This is real life, and taking a bullet could be potentially life threatening.
