Isreal is a small country with a population of 7 million people. It has very little international support and it relies mainly on the U.S, for financial and military aid. I do not think Israel absolutely needs the U.S. but you can see that it has real trouble making friends with other countries. They had developed a relationship with Turkey for many years but the military operation in Gaza pretty much ended the cooperative relationship.
