@HappyCabbie Hey man, I just recently started watching your channel. I enjoy your perspective :) I was just wondering, are you an atheist or are you do you believe in God?
happycabbie should be the poster boy for atheists. i wish all atheists were as open minded and accepting as him. its not often that you'll see an atheist encouraging someone to pursue christianity.
So what went wrong to make you an atheist ? And to @wealllfart how would you tell a stone age person about evolution i think thats the only way he could without sounding crazy
wow man...this is an excellent video...I just came accross your channel, How come you aren't a christian? I'm sure you have a video about it, but you just got a sub :o)
@Graffight it is a long long story but if you have 54 minutes to spare I have that in a video called My Deconversion Story. Short of it is I took a look at my creationist views and came to the conclusion that they were wrong. Then I went to question my other beliefs.
@HappyCabbie There are MANY christians who don't hold to typical creationist views.. Wow, that really had you come to the conclusion that Jesus wasn't real???
@HappyCabbie There is an interview with this MIT professor, who is Jewish, who ties in Evolution and the Creation story. He isnt' a Christian and ties the two worlds beautifully together. If I can remember what his name is, I'll PM you the link. If you are interested anyway..
@Weallfart unless he can prove that the earth and everything on it was created in 6 days I am really not interested. The Bible says that is how long it took the earth to be created. So either the book of Genesis is the inspired word of God, or it is the word of men.
@HappyCabbie: I have to agree with the other poster. People are flawed & all WE write as fact could, in fact, be false. Only Christ is true. I respect your decision to "deconvert" but think you erred if your "deconversion"started with Creationism. There are MANY flaws in Creationism; I've yet to find errors in the Word. The errors have been in my interpretation. That doesn't put the faith in question. I pray you reconsider. At stake is eternity....not simply opinion. Bless you brother.
Happycabbie, i'm a christian and i really enjoyed this video. I agree with everything you said. I have a big problem with people like shock of god and truthfulchristian because they give all christians a bad name.
I quit church i dont remember why but i really loved it. i hated some of the people in it and lots of old people. songs are boring. sound oldish. :P but i just pray at home. i dont need church to be happy but i did return one night and it was dead and i didnt know anyone and everyone kept to them selfs only one person was welcoming. pretty sad. oh well. im glad i dont go anymore. nice video. really liked it.
@jessiex1990 there is a website called ChurchAngel that lists all the churches by town and also by denomination. It might be a good place to check out.
@HappyCabbie i read it from a book and internet .. there is Gospel of Luke + Gospel of John + Gospel of Marc + Gospel of Matthew ... thanks anyway for Response .
Once you find said "Good Church:" 1) Liberally apply gasoline, kerosine, or other flammable liquid to structure. 2) Light liquid. Because the only "good church
I am not a Branhamite . I do not believe Adam and Eve had sex with a snake here is what the bible say about it read Genesis 3:1 snakes can't talk and a serpent a.k.a snake are nothing as the bible said in this scripture

@HappyCabbie Well the last person that said something like that about the prophet thy all died in a weeks time or got crazy in a weeks time and was never saved
did you know when the holy ghost comes in a man to speck a word against what it is doing can never be forgiven Matthew 12:32 [And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the [world] to come.]
Very good point about accountability! I often think about the cringing that the pastors of some theists would experience if they saw the craziness that we see out of some of them on youtube.
@GrudgyDiablo I would prefer that he be an atheist. However it is clear that this is not what Jordan wants. Given those circumstances I think he will be far better off being held accountable to a church than these clowns here on YouTube. Many of these clowns on youtube will lie and deceive just to cover for one of their own. Most church's are not like that and many pastors are trained in counsoling which is what he needs.
@Ninjaculation at my church we did offer juice and coffee for free out in the patio before and after services. We found it helped people linger around longer and socialize and interact.
@InsanistDisturbium I am not an expert on Lutheran but Pentecostals distinctive trait is speaking in tounges. Other divisions of pentecostalism is Word of Faith aka Name it and Claim it theology. There is also Oneness pentecostalism which rejects the Trinity doctrine. Baptists are also very divided but all have this in common. They teach that baptism is done after salvation and does not wash away sins, but rather it is a symbol.
Good points"if you lay down with dogs, you will get up with fleas".that being said i may be an atheist, but my wife, not so much.i have always told her if she wanted to go to church i would take her(she doesn't drive)i would try to encourage some thing on the lines of methodist,or liberal like that.i don't think i could put up with a fundie thing.
@h8red42 while I look back in shame when I consider what I used to believe as a fundie, I can honestly say that my old church kept everyone on the straight and narrow and they would hold you accountable if they saw you fall into sin. If Jordan lived up north I would not hesitate to send him there.
@PeaceInChristAlone that is very true. Submitting to the authority of a church is essential for any ministry, even YouTube. Many of these Christians on youtube will lie and cover up for one another just like they defended VFX till the very end.
Really thoughtful video. I would add that maybe a mainstream church would be the safest bet. Having come from a cultic church, it was 'alive', but it wasn't accountable to an association of any kind and as a result it became abusive without that accountability.
@LJonYT well my church was completely independent and free from any denomination. However even our pastor was accountable to others. He met regularly with other friends and he was accountable to the board of deacons.
@HappyCabbie Yes, in the church I was in the hierarchy was very top-down. This was the biggest issue. The people at the very top weren't accountable. What you described is much different and sounds healthier.
@TruthVsLiars Atheists as a group do not need to hate anyone. Why should it be so? (But I guess your comment was meant more humorous than serious.)
Faith is just one part of a personality. Even though I am an agnostic atheist, I do not automatically dislike religious people simply based on the fact they have some form of faith. Putting people into categories and treating them in some predetermined manner is not exactly showing very advanced morality, it's what fundamentalists do.
@TruthVsLiars I would prefer that Jordan be an atheist, however it is clear that this is not what he wants. Given those circumstances I think it would be wise for him to join a church and not rely on clowns like Shockofgod for his fellowship and spiritual health. Nobody puts themself on YouTube unedited. At church that is harder to do, they can know the real you.
@HappyCabbie I would actually prefer that Jordan studies religion in a college rather than a church. I myself do not trust any church. If he just took 3 classes he would be better off. I watch shock for the fun of it. He is so stupid. He has never realized that his question says the same thing four times. Poof, evidence, accurate and, correct.
i would add to this list, that it is friendly. I would qualify that by saying: i think at least one pastor should make the effort to call or try to make a home visit for new visitors.eg:attended a large church for 7+years and never had a pastoral visit or call.(they had several pastors, also).attended a baptist church and the same week had a visit from pastor and wife, AND a later visit from two women.no suprise: they had a bus ministry also.i am not an attention hound, but it touched me.
@practicalmagic9 our church did that. Each week we would call and set appointments to visit new members and visitors. The pastors, deacons, and lay leaders would go out in twos, and visit with people. There was also a hospital visitation team, and we made sure we stayed in contact.
@HappyCabbie that is quite excellent! even if i no longer believe, i look back and see that the community of believers should truly guide decisions.i think, also, a church that values deepening eschatology should be a factor.(too many baby christians, not enough adults that eat the meat).that was trickier, as it requires teachers that encourage deep discussions and messy questions.anyway, that was a very caring church i agree.
It doesn't matter if you're Atheist, Agnostic, etc... The instructions in this video is accurate and should be taken into consideration by Jordan, I'm rather confident, it will be! This should be the type of video responses being made & sent to Jordan. It's Sad that an Atheist knows and seems to be more concerned than christians with the importance of getting in a *Good church* for proper : (1) Supervision / Accountability (2) Support / Fellowship, Getting Grounded in Sound Doctrine / Training
@mykidsdad36 I just love how many PM's I am getting from Christians telling me I am wrong for insisting he find a church. Amazingly no atheists are giving me shit over this yet, and that is what I was expecting.
@ThickShades1 it is people like you who blindly support your fellow Christian here on YouTube even when it is obvious that they do wrong. You group 3 Christians do not hold each other accountable for eachothers actions. You willingly enable lying, deceit, so long as it promotes your message of Christianity.
What he needs is someone who is willing to call him on his sins if he makes them, and that isn't you. People like you are only his friend when he is a Christian. Yes, I will block you
@HappyCabbie I love you happyCabbie seriously good stuff. not only the video but the response to that twit. also Calvinism is not a denomination but more of a doctrine. Same as armenianism. Calvinists can be baptist, and Lutheran and pentecostal. Other than that, liked it.
Well there ya are ThickShades... I wondered where you ran off to.
Just wanted to know how that prophecy bit was going for you and to let you know that my own prediction, namely that well founded oil field technology would cap that well without the use of nukes... and the well is indeed all capped now so I think it's safe to say that you were correct in your assertion that you can't predict crap from the bible.
@ThickShades1 9. Calling yourself a Christian and saying "hate your dumbass church...." and being a troll are not consistent. As far as i know your not a Christian so quit pretending to represent Christianity.
@RuinSonic I agree with u and think he's just a troll 'cause a true christian would share helpful advice and constructive criticism. I bet Jesus(if he exists)is facepalming TS1
@sambyon I don't think a lot of people who are on here arguing for Christianity are real Christians by their own Church's standards. I mean there are some liberal ones that insult and curse a lot, but chances are if your a fundie YEC you are cursing and bad mouthing and going to a conservative Church on Sunday. It's all very strange here on you tube.
add to the board non radical religious practices like westboro baptist church. also churches that go by the bible and love they neighbor like jesus says int he bible. a great fun youth program too.
@JBBlitz most church's do have youth programs but what many lack is a college age program. The thing is most teenagers quit going at age 20 or so and don't come back to church until they are in their 30's with a few kids. Very few churches have programs for the 20 something crowd. Fortunately he is in a big town so he should be able to find one.
@rphamning I myself would be hesitant to endorse any chain church. Regardless of denomination, any church can be alive or it can be dead. You have to take it on a case by case basis.
When I left my "judgemental" church, I focused more on the meaning of life...sorry but I refuse to head back into that hot mess. I do know there is a God..I just choose to do it on my own.
@RuinSonic Sometimes, I don't know whether to laugh or cry at some of the stupid comments I get on you-tube. Have you heard of a word called conviction. You can look that up, it's important as a person to assess what roads you are going to take in life, so that you will not waffle back and forth like a buffoon and appear to have no conviction. Sudden change is not change, that's called manipulation, real change takes time, and you don't flip back to old habits if you have really changed.
@Elenkhos I'm not saying your wrong that he didn't really follow through with his skepticism making it questionable how skeptical he was. But I try to shy away from the no true Scotsman fallacy. He still was an atheist/agnostic unless there's proof otherwise.
I hope your not laughing/crying at my comment. I think he may have been manipulated such as when he went street preaching, but he has certain buttons that get him motivated to abandon skepticism in favor of something stimulating.
@Elenkhos I would classify it as a crisis of faith. In my opinion this crisis of faith is still going on today. He still has doubts, but he is trying to find a path and it is clear that he wants his path to be Christianity again. The best thing for him is to quit the tug of war that is going on between the athiests and the religious and let him focus on his mental health.
@HappyCabbie well he is pretty young, we all went down that road, if he was mine and your age I would point and laugh, but I can't argue with you anyway happy you're m'daddy.
I guess as atheists we expect the belief to be self sustaining. It doesn't necessarily spill over to any sort of "outreach". In time we see that the organizations who are going out of their way to entice us to join them usually have an alterior motive.
I liked this fictional book I read where, as a side story, the main character went to a different church in his town each week and attended their service, and then reported on his experiences. It seems like a pretty cool thing to do, and it'd be nice if more religious folks experienced that breadth of the belief spectrum.
One reason why more people do not forsake religion altogether, is there IS no church of atheism. A lot of people simply need somewhere to go once a week.
I respect your intentions and thank you for the incite into churches, i was so young when i was made to go, and never experienced this or considered the choices theists make.
Thumbs up for the white board, much easier to read.
Great message to Jordan or anyone else in his position for that matter. I hope that if he sees this video he will be able to accept the advice you have given him.
If I could distill your video to a few words, it would be these: find people who love other people, genuinely. Is that about right? My own opinion is that people who love thier fellows are people worth associating with; and those sorts of people exist in just about every demographic(theist, agnostic, and atheist, etc.). All-in-all, I think you're exactly right in this video.
Thanks Cabbie, im not judging you because you are atheist. However I am fairly new to reading the bible from what I learned is everyone has a specific gift. If you reach people on the internet than hey thats your ministry. Or if you sit infront of a huge audience and thats your ministry then god bless. I don't say that you shouldn't go to church, however I do want to say that I think you should balance your life because Jesus doesn't want to be on your top list he wants to be with all your life.

@animevet Many of them are, it is just that it is the group 3 Christians I referred to that get most of the attention because they stir up drama

Very off-topic, but the new board begs for a Glenn Beck parody.

Good points"if you lay down with dogs, you will get up with fleas".that being said i may be an atheist, but my wife, not so much.i have always told her if she wanted to go to church i would take her(she doesn't drive)i would try to encourage some thing on the lines of methodist,or liberal like that.i don't think i could put up with a fundie thing.
h8red42 1 year ago
@h8red42 while I look back in shame when I consider what I used to believe as a fundie, I can honestly say that my old church kept everyone on the straight and narrow and they would hold you accountable if they saw you fall into sin. If Jordan lived up north I would not hesitate to send him there.
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
HappyCabbie I like the fact that you actually care about Jordan. Trash talk is cheep. You really care.
PeaceInChristAlone 1 year ago
My pastor has seen my videos and corrected me on some of them.
VenomFangX needed a Pastors supervision. That would have kept him out a lot of trouble.
PeaceInChristAlone 1 year ago
@PeaceInChristAlone that is very true. Submitting to the authority of a church is essential for any ministry, even YouTube. Many of these Christians on youtube will lie and cover up for one another just like they defended VFX till the very end.
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
Really thoughtful video. I would add that maybe a mainstream church would be the safest bet. Having come from a cultic church, it was 'alive', but it wasn't accountable to an association of any kind and as a result it became abusive without that accountability.
LJonYT 1 year ago
@LJonYT well my church was completely independent and free from any denomination. However even our pastor was accountable to others. He met regularly with other friends and he was accountable to the board of deacons.
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
@HappyCabbie Yes, in the church I was in the hierarchy was very top-down. This was the biggest issue. The people at the very top weren't accountable. What you described is much different and sounds healthier.
LJonYT 1 year ago
Very good video. All cults say they believe the Bible.
PeaceInChristAlone 1 year ago
Does not compute. A atheist helping a Christian. When did this happen? Atheists are supposed to hate everyone.
TruthVsLiars 1 year ago
@TruthVsLiars Atheists as a group do not need to hate anyone. Why should it be so? (But I guess your comment was meant more humorous than serious.)
Faith is just one part of a personality. Even though I am an agnostic atheist, I do not automatically dislike religious people simply based on the fact they have some form of faith. Putting people into categories and treating them in some predetermined manner is not exactly showing very advanced morality, it's what fundamentalists do.
KingAsmodeus 1 year ago
@TruthVsLiars I would prefer that Jordan be an atheist, however it is clear that this is not what he wants. Given those circumstances I think it would be wise for him to join a church and not rely on clowns like Shockofgod for his fellowship and spiritual health. Nobody puts themself on YouTube unedited. At church that is harder to do, they can know the real you.
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
@HappyCabbie I would actually prefer that Jordan studies religion in a college rather than a church. I myself do not trust any church. If he just took 3 classes he would be better off. I watch shock for the fun of it. He is so stupid. He has never realized that his question says the same thing four times. Poof, evidence, accurate and, correct.
TruthVsLiars 1 year ago
i would add to this list, that it is friendly. I would qualify that by saying: i think at least one pastor should make the effort to call or try to make a home visit for new visitors.eg:attended a large church for 7+years and never had a pastoral visit or call.(they had several pastors, also).attended a baptist church and the same week had a visit from pastor and wife, AND a later visit from two women.no suprise: they had a bus ministry also.i am not an attention hound, but it touched me.
practicalmagic9 1 year ago
@practicalmagic9 our church did that. Each week we would call and set appointments to visit new members and visitors. The pastors, deacons, and lay leaders would go out in twos, and visit with people. There was also a hospital visitation team, and we made sure we stayed in contact.
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
@HappyCabbie that is quite excellent! even if i no longer believe, i look back and see that the community of believers should truly guide decisions.i think, also, a church that values deepening eschatology should be a factor.(too many baby christians, not enough adults that eat the meat).that was trickier, as it requires teachers that encourage deep discussions and messy questions.anyway, that was a very caring church i agree.
practicalmagic9 1 year ago
@HappyCabbie that is quite excellent! , that was a very caring church i agree.

Funny because the LDS church meets all of those requirements :P

@kinkymage1337 Not all of them do. It really is on a case by case basis.
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
It doesn't matter if you're Atheist, Agnostic, etc... The instructions in this video is accurate and should be taken into consideration by Jordan, I'm rather confident, it will be! This should be the type of video responses being made & sent to Jordan. It's Sad that an Atheist knows and seems to be more concerned than christians with the importance of getting in a *Good church* for proper : (1) Supervision / Accountability (2) Support / Fellowship, Getting Grounded in Sound Doctrine / Training
mykidsdad36 1 year ago
@mykidsdad36 I just love how many PM's I am getting from Christians telling me I am wrong for insisting he find a church. Amazingly no atheists are giving me shit over this yet, and that is what I was expecting.

1. walking with Christ is not going to a church.
2. "Pinecone's" pastor has nothing to do with your "Pinecone."
3. Hate your dumbass church, not God.
4. Work has nothing to do with your Salvation.
5. Fellowship is NOT "friendship."
6. What Jordan needs is NOT your dumbassness.
7. Stop your dumbass doodles against God. if you are a student, just STUDY.

ThickShades1 1 year ago
@ThickShades1 it is people like you who blindly support your fellow Christian here on YouTube even when it is obvious that they do wrong. You group 3 Christians do not hold each other accountable for eachothers actions. You willingly enable lying, deceit, so long as it promotes your message of Christianity.
What he needs is someone who is willing to call him on his sins if he makes them, and that isn't you. People like you are only his friend when he is a Christian. Yes, I will block you
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
@HappyCabbie I love you happyCabbie seriously good stuff. not only the video but the response to that twit. also Calvinism is not a denomination but more of a doctrine. Same as armenianism. Calvinists can be baptist, and Lutheran and pentecostal. Other than that, liked it.

RuinSonic 1 year ago
@RuinSonic I agree with u and think he's just a troll 'cause a true christian would share helpful advice and constructive criticism. I bet Jesus(if he exists)is facepalming TS1
sambyon 1 year ago
@sambyon I don't think a lot of people who are on here arguing for Christianity are real Christians by their own Church's standards. I mean there are some liberal ones that insult and curse a lot, but chances are if your a fundie YEC you are cursing and bad mouthing and going to a conservative Church on Sunday. It's all very strange here on you tube.

@TheStoasterRisen me too but from what I have heard he is not talking to any of us atheists. So that does have me worried.
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
add to the board non radical religious practices like westboro baptist church. also churches that go by the bible and love they neighbor like jesus says int he bible. a great fun youth program too.
JBBlitz 1 year ago
@JBBlitz most church's do have youth programs but what many lack is a college age program. The thing is most teenagers quit going at age 20 or so and don't come back to church until they are in their 30's with a few kids. Very few churches have programs for the 20 something crowd. Fortunately he is in a big town so he should be able to find one.

look up chain of churches called vineyard, they have churches that do their own thing all over the country
rphamning 1 year ago
@rphamning I myself would be hesitant to endorse any chain church. Regardless of denomination, any church can be alive or it can be dead. You have to take it on a case by case basis.

Elenkhos 1 year ago
@Elenkhos This sounds a lot like fundamentalism atheism. Fundamentalist Christians say the same thing in the opposite direction.
RuinSonic 1 year ago
@RuinSonic Sometimes, I don't know whether to laugh or cry at some of the stupid comments I get on you-tube. Have you heard of a word called conviction. You can look that up, it's important as a person to assess what roads you are going to take in life, so that you will not waffle back and forth like a buffoon and appear to have no conviction. Sudden change is not change, that's called manipulation, real change takes time, and you don't flip back to old habits if you have really changed.
Elenkhos 1 year ago
@Elenkhos I'm not saying your wrong that he didn't really follow through with his skepticism making it questionable how skeptical he was. But I try to shy away from the no true Scotsman fallacy. He still was an atheist/agnostic unless there's proof otherwise.
I hope your not laughing/crying at my comment. I think he may have been manipulated such as when he went street preaching, but he has certain buttons that get him motivated to abandon skepticism in favor of something stimulating.
RuinSonic 1 year ago
@RuinSonic Lol...no I'm not laughing/crying at your statement, especially the second which was very articulate... A+ (hand clapping)
Elenkhos 1 year ago
@Elenkhos I would classify it as a crisis of faith. In my opinion this crisis of faith is still going on today. He still has doubts, but he is trying to find a path and it is clear that he wants his path to be Christianity again. The best thing for him is to quit the tug of war that is going on between the athiests and the religious and let him focus on his mental health.
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
@HappyCabbie well he is pretty young, we all went down that road, if he was mine and your age I would point and laugh, but I can't argue with you anyway happy you're m'daddy.
Elenkhos 1 year ago
I guess as atheists we expect the belief to be self sustaining. It doesn't necessarily spill over to any sort of "outreach". In time we see that the organizations who are going out of their way to entice us to join them usually have an alterior motive.
MsMrNoface 1 year ago
@MsMrNoface some do, but the type of church that I was talking about does not.

I liked this fictional book I read where, as a side story, the main character went to a different church in his town each week and attended their service, and then reported on his experiences. It seems like a pretty cool thing to do, and it'd be nice if more religious folks experienced that breadth of the belief spectrum.
hotlavatube 1 year ago
@hotlavatube sounds good
HappyCabbie 1 year ago
One reason why more people do not forsake religion altogether, is there IS no church of atheism. A lot of people simply need somewhere to go once a week.
