u made me brak my gun the hand grip screws wont fit back in. also u shouldnt shoot the gun dry it will mess up the insides andand will make the gun all broke

beautiful video my gun wouldnt shoot so i followed this video and i cleaned my gun and it fired.

i think my problem is with the sear not going far enough. the sear pin was loose so i put some tephlon tape on it to hold it still so it wouldn't wiggle and allow the gun to shoot normally but now it only shoots once with the co2 in there. after that, it gets stuck.

Why do you need to maintenance a 98? Lets be honest here, no one who owns one of these knows what in gods name is going on in that gun. As far as I know tou pull the trigger and it magically shoots.

@ThePoopsmellsbad i had the same problem but found out that on mine there is a rubber grip pad on the handle that has tow small screws that needs to be removed to get at the last screw big. if you take out the two small screws the grip will come off and then the last screw is easily visible

I never strip down my 98. It simply doesn’t need this leave of attention. If it chops paint I spray it out with water and then drip dry. Before pouting some oil in though the asa hole and then dry firing it. I have had the marker 7 years and it was second hand when I got it. I have replaced the power tube and fitted a new ball d’tent and that has been it. It still goes and shoots perfectly. The same is true of my A5. Fire it oil it. Fire it oil it. :-)

One thing to watch out for when taking apart the halves, the front sight blade spring might go flying away quite suddenly, a common occurrence.

@superassassin47 most likely no, it wont break. they are desined for woodsball and are very strong. my friend drove over his in a truck and it still works. but you will have to clean it if it gets muddy and  . hope that helps!

i just test fired mine after like 1 month of not shooting it and it worked ok then it went uncontrolably fully auto and went through 200 rounds in around 45 seconds. i wasnt even pulling the trigger and it went until the tank died

@goxboxyourself It is supposed to be when you dont have enough co2 to push the bolt back to where it locks in and waits for you to fire so it never latches it just falls back and fires again. Thats what the phone guy at tippman says. so it basicly means ur out of gas

@doriang1996 Thats a ball detent, it prevent double loading of paintballs into the chamber. I don't think it would cause your gun to leak. Leaking is usually caused from broken Orings.

i have the original tippmann 98 and the first time i disassembled and reassembled it, the gun leaked co2 from, what sounded like, the middle of the gun near the valve connected to the gas hose, any suggestions?

does anyone know how to take apart a collapsable stock for the custom 98? mine has gotten worn down and tends to wiggle a lot. I was wondering if there was a way to make it sturdier.

I use (i am kicking myself for not knowing the name) but the white tape you use for pluming. If your barrel is loose you can simply put a few layers of that around the threads and twist the barrel back on. it wont completly get rid of the wobble but for under a couple bucks it will be a uge improvement.

White thread tape, just ask for that @ a hardware store, they'll know its very common, and if any1 knows the name please tell me lol its bugging me, i use this quite often haha.

Yes, it is as easy as unscrewing one and screwing in the other. If you are purchasing a new barrel make sure it fits your marker model.
