In the end credits: The story, all names, characters and incidents portrayed in this production is fictitous. No identification with actual persons, places, buildings and products is intended or should be inferred.
The part where they're in the parking garage and Murtaugh mentions how he heard about the heroic stunt he pulled the other day doesn't make sense unless you've seen the directors cut. Riggs shoots a sniper at an elementary school that's what Murtaugh is referring to.
One of those films where you can always find something new no matter how many times you watch it...and I've watched it many many times! Gets my vote for 2nd best action film of all time (behind Die Hard).
Here are some of my best action films of the 1970's, 1980's and 1990's. - Die Hard. - Lethal Weapon. - Ronin. - The Last Boy Scout. - Red Dawn. - The French Connection. - The Gauntlet. - 48 HRS. - Payback. - Lethal Weapon 2. - Terminator 2: Judgement Day. - The Terminator. - The Rock. - Con Air. - Above the Law. and last but not least, - Face/Off.
Did you guys all hear that Lethal Weapon is next on Hollywood's list for pitiful reboots and remakes? I couldn't imagine how anyone could even dream of touching a series like this. I wish Hollywood would just leave the classics alone and get more original.
you know what is the most common thing that happens in action movies ? kidnapping daugthers! in lethal weapon they kidnap murtaugh's daugther Rianne in commando they kidnap Arnie's daugther in true lies they kidnap arnie's daugther in die hard 4 they kidnap john mcclain's daugther Lucy WTF ? can someone explain this to me ?
This film is an awesome late 80's classic, also a good film to watch at Christmas. Gibson and Glover are an amazing team. Shame Mel Gibson isn't this badass in real life. :(
The biggest problem with cop movies today is that there is 0 balance. Its either action, action, action and 0 REAL plot (Bad Boys II) or, all talk or more geard toward comedy and maybe an action scene or two to change things up (The Other Guys). Lethal Weapon is much more focused on the characters and the realism with an awsome balance of humor and action, something todays movies just can't get right. The chemistry between Gibson and Glover is almost impossible to do today.
It wasn't bad, but just okay. I thought the ending was stupid. The cops just stand around and do nothing while the two guys beat the snot out of each other.
@esh325 Cecil B. DeMille (August 12, 1881 – January 21, 1959) was an American film director and Academy Award-winning film producer in both silent and sound films. He had a keen eye for talent and was known for being an instrumental catalyst for the rising status of many a struggling or unknown actor.
Murtaugh told the cops that they shouldn't worry Riggs was a professional so they thought everything was under control until the dude pulls out the gun from one of the cops and tries to kill riggs but they react quicker the police intervention was optional
I like the movie , Lethal Weapon , my perception of what law is how criminal law applies in modern society. This movie depicted the every day life of cops on the move. Law is responding to crimes in the manner in which they did, they also used various resources to find out details of crimes just like today, they used informants and the criminal justice system does also. It depicts solving cases at a rapid pace. Modern society is depicted some what accurately in this movie.
Simply put one of the greatest action movies ever made and one of my all-time favourites. Kickass actions scenes, solid character interaction and a good sense of humor result in a movie that can be experienced time and time again. Love it!
_Lethal Weapon_ is first and foremost about the relationships between the characters in the movie. It uses action as a plot device to move the story along. It does not make the action the story.
One of my top 10 favorite films. And even though it was the 80s, I love the retro 70s quality of this trailer. I also love Martin's line, "No on can touch me." In the movie, it was changed to "You're gonna have to trust me."
i think these are the only movies that i can stand to watch because the sequels are equally, maybe better, than the original. doesn't happen much anymore
This film was only intended to be a one time thing, and the people who through together the original trailer from 1987 did not even for one second anticipate any sequels, and yes I do agree the film is better than the trailer the thing I don't get is why there is a clip in the trailer from the barscene but the barscene is not in the film, it wasnt even on the director's cut version.
We need more "low-tech" action movies like this. No special effects and shimmering water & lighting effects. Just good ol' fashioned action and great lines delivered.
@Joelomite You're exactly right. I watched Die Hard recently, and loved it. I really forgot how good some of these 80's action movies were. 80's action nostalgia time!
The best action buddy film of all time. Gibson plays a suicidal maverick cop mismatched with partner Glover in a great comedic role. Great stunts and whole lot of action make Lethal Weapon worth watching again and again.
This was a great movie. I love all 4, but the first is always the best.

Best film series ever
Best gun sounds ever and I love Riggs Beretta 92 and Murtuagh's Smith & Wesson
Best quotes:
1) Murtuagh:"Did you ever meet anybody you didn't kill?"
Riggs:"Well I haven't killed you yet,"
2) Murtuagh:"I'm too old for this shit,"
3) Riggs:"You wanna jump?! Well thats fine with me,"
