If you have STARZ On Demand, they have Grindhouse on there in its entirety, with the trailers attached. They also have the extended versions of Planet Terror and Death Proof. As for the Planet Terror DVD, we got ripped off (w/only the Machete trailer).

It was if you were there. Grindhouse was essentially a comedy. Part of the movie experience was the audience atmosphere. If you don't like MST3K or corny exploitation films, you didn't belong there. Even Planet Terror's DVD came with an audience reaction track.

The reason Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright are all in this is because Simon and Edgar wrote it. They actually took a break while shooting Hot Fuzz to make this for Tarantino and Rodriquez. If you notice, the blond going into the basement is in hot fuzz, as are several other faces. Eli Roth and Rob Zombie did the other two trailers during the movie. It's all a big joke.

I think that the pleasure of Grindhouse was missed by a few people, and I don't blame them. It really wasn't the typical movie, rather it re-created the sensation that one got going to a drive-in double feature. Less than Oscar caliber movie as well as missing reels but still alot of exploitative fun.

Not to contradict you, but Grindhouse isn't really meant to mock movies (well, except for the fake trailers- but they're more about parodying entire genres). Grindhouse is intended to give the audience a genuine movie experience that you just really can't have anymore. Movie-watching nowadays doesn't happen at shoddy theaters where the film is old and flawed and those overpriced modern theaters never seem to have old-fashioned double features like this.

It's not so much about mocking them but about delivering the goods on the adjectives in the poster, as Tarantino says 70% of the old grindhouse movies failed to do. In any event, the movie combines an abiding love for those old worn flicks with exciting and funny screenwriting and direction. If there's a Grindhouse 2 (featuring "Machete") I'll be first in line.
