  • I am getting mines off this friday!!!!

  • I had a question for you doctor, my braces should be coming off soon but i feel like my teeth need to be trimmed a little bit can i request a filing for my teeth to my dentist or is it up to him to file my teeth if its necessary?

  • @ShonenManga It is always OK to ask your doctor questions about your treatment. Then they can tell you what will work best for you.

    Great question.

    Dr. B

  • For those that are scared because they get theyre braces off soon and dont know what it's gonna look like, stop being a drama queen/king. They will look like youre teeth do except with out the metal square in the middle. On a side note, I had clear braces on the top and metal on the bottom, plus an expander for my top palette and I bit my bottom braces down into my gums in a car accident and it caused permanent damage. Had they been the clear ones on bottom, it probably wouldnt have happened.

  • does it hurt

  • Boom... no braces :)

  • What instrument are you using?

  • @jessb333 It is a bracket removing plier designed by ORMCO for the removal of ceramic braces.

    Dr. B

  • @facesortho hi ;] im 13.. so you know how the brace color is clear ..do they have clear wires? or are they metal..for regular braces

  • @Jadabear100 There are wires that have coatings on them that make the wires look the same color as the teeth. We mostly use regular wires that are silver.

    Great Question

    Dr. B

  • michael jackson in the background

  • Is it really ceramic? Looks more like zafiro... ;-)

  • i got braces about a month ago and im counting down the days until i can get them off its not they hurt or anything its just i hate smiling and i have to wait 17 more months so i dont care how much it hurts im ready to get them off and say bye bye braces :)

  • i am removing my braces tmr and i am so scared now. damn it

  • Hi Dr. B im am 21 yrs old, and i am getting braces for the first time in one week. my ortho. told me that i have the worst case senerio for dental problems. i have extream crowding on the top with an extream overjet. he suggested tha i get TADS implanted in. and both of my upper first bicuspids extracted. im so nervous to get this done. so i guess my question is do TADS hurt??

  • Taking off braces don't hurt at all…they just click them off then they have to just clear the glue or stuff off.

  • Hi Dr. B, i get my braces removed in late January and I am TERRIFIED it will hurt! Does it hurt a lot? Because if it does I will remember to take painkillers before.

    Please reply! Thanks x

  • uhm i have metal braces a week and one of my metal ones poped out like 2 hrs after and im gonna get creamic braces is it true it takes longer then metal or is it myth?

  • @KoreanSenzation Most orthodontists feel ceramic brackets are more difficult to work with than metal braces, especialy compared to the newer self ligating braces. They tend to have more broblems than metal braces. My experience is that treatment can be extended especially in more difficult cases.

    Great Question & good luck

    Dr. B

  • I am so excited! I get my braces off in 6 days after 38 long months! I can't wait!

  • thumbs up if your watchin this becuz ur bored

  • :( i wish my teeth were still that straight, i had braces for almost 2 and a half years, and i was stupid, and stopped wearing my retainer. my teeth arent TOTALLY screwed up, but they're not the same....

  • i wish my orthodontist played michael jackson music... :-(

  • Does anyone else hear Never Say Never

  • Hi doc im tuning 16 in july and getting braces in september and i have a massive overbite which almost makes it look like i have no chin, im going to ask my orthodontist to try correct it, but i really do not want surgery, im not fully grown yet in terms of height etc, do you think i will be able to have something else correct it even slightly? im not worried about having a perfect jaw

  • @4RealandTruth To answer this question I would need to really examine your jaws & teeth. Some general info. There are appliances like Herbst that can help, but it usually works better when you are a bit younger during a growth spurt. If your jaws are way off & you want a facial change then surgery might be the best alternative. Just go and see what the orthodontist recommends and even seek a few opinions.

    Good Luck

    Dr. B

  • @4RealandTruth I really hope you're going to be okay that's kind of sad I don't have perfect teeth and my teeth are kindda yellow any way I hope you'll be okay and you wont have to do a surgry or any thing like that goodluck!

  • doc i have a underbite im 15 the facemask is not working what should i do

  • @gamerhack Speak with your orthodontist. Facemask treatment relies on the fact that you are growing. Age 15 is at the upper limit for it to work. Make sure you are wearing it as much as possible. Even then this may not be successful and different alternatives may need to be followed.

    Good Luck

    Dr. B

  • @facesortho what would the other alternatives be ?

  • @gamerhack Only your orthodontist would know what is best for you. But in general terms other options are extraction- taking out some teeth or Jaw Surgery- This does what the Face Mask is trying to do, but with surgery.

    Great Questions

    Good Luck

    Dr. B

  • Hello doc. i have a question, i am about to remove the braces in 2 months, but teeth are not completely straight, do they have to be 100% Straight?

  • @TastyTeo If you are not completely happy you should discuss this with your orthodontist at your next appointment. They can tell you what is going on and what they have planned.

    Good luck

    Dr. B

  • @facesortho Hi Dr. B i was wondering: I am getting a clear retainer in a week and will people see it when i talk and smile or will it go unnoticed?

  • @lalalauren409 It should not be noticable. The ones we make look very similar to invisalign retainers.

    Congrats,

    Dr. B

  • @facesortho okay thanks! I was freaking out because of that(: And one more question: I am getting my braces off tomorrow and when i feel in my mouth one of my canines seems to be a little more sticked out then the other one. My orthodontist didn't seem to notice so is ho I feel the tooth in my nouth going to affect the appearence? I want my teeth to be perfect but im nervous that my left canine is just sticking out a tiny bit but since my orthodontist didn't do anything about it is it okay?

  • @lalalauren409 This may be normal. sometimes the point or cusp on the canines wear unevenly, more on one side than the other. If it does not look longer on either side it is probably OK. But ask your orthodontist, before they take your braces off. Sometime the teeth can be reshaped slightly if required.

    Good Luck & don't stress.

    Dr. B

  • @facesortho thanks but when you say the teeth can be reshaped slightly does this mean I will need to keep the braces on longer?

  • @lalalauren409 No, we use a dental hand piece to actully reshape the tooth (grind/ smooth it down a little). This does not hurt as we are only removing a small layer of the enamel.

    Dr. B

  • Great another extraction case, no wonder she has a double chin, she probably has TMJ now too! And that smiles not full, I don't understand why ortho are still allowed to practice this barbaric procedure.

  • @ccarrieb Extraction VS Non extraction treatment has been debated for over 100 years in the field of orthodontics. There is no evidence that the removal of teeth causes any of the problems you mention. There is evidence that certain cases benifit from removal of teeth for coreection of many problems like crowding, Class II & class III malocclusions. This video was shown so people could see how ceramic braces are removed.

    Dr. B

  • @facesortho

That is not true at all, please watch my video, I don't care why it's shown it's bad work, she doesn't have a full smile and her face is pulled backwards, she looks horrible. You should stop this practice, before you ruin more faces.

  • @ccarrieb Please check out the American Association of Orthodontists web site braces.org or my office web site for the real facts and some great before and after results.

    Dr. B

  • wtf did i just see? lol

  • @lisa5hot

A bad ortho practice removing braces after he ripped out 4 of her teeth, she looks bad and has a double chin now after the retraction.

  • can someone explain to me how it feels once the braces are off. i forgot how it feels NOT to have braces. could someone please explain how it feels

  • wow those came off a whole lot easier than mine.

mine hurt so bad to take off, and little bits broke off and went on my tongue and everything, it was gross :\

  • I have ceramic braces and i will have had them for four years when they are removed and i remember when I first got them my orthodontist showed me pictures of a person with square holes in the front of their teeth from the brackets..... and i brush

3-4 times a day (I must admit I dont floss to often its sooo hard!) but will i have holes in the front of my teeth? i am so scared that he will take the braces off and my teeth willl be horrifying ! and can removing brackets damage my teeth?

  • @KaylaNoelle1 If you are doing a good job cleaning your teeth & your ortho and the staff are saying you are doing a good job then you should have nothing to worry about.

A good test at how you are doing is to look at your teeth and you should see clean white teeth below the braces & your gums should not be swollen and growing up to the braces.

    Good luck

    Dr. B

  • i get my braces off on tuesday and im getting really scared what they will look like ;'(

  • @Whathappenedthere, good luck

  • Comment removed

  • @titties374 a metal mouth? i got them off not on ... and this was like 8 months ago so ...

  • @Whathappenedthere at least your teeth are most likely all straight no gaps... unlike mine i have to leave some gaps cause my ortho said something about "it being too narrow" and they're kinda in the front! grrr.. i get my braces off Feb 14.

  • I have to get braces soon, but im more afraid of getting my teeth pulled out at the start. Last time i got teeth pulled out i had to be under general because i was very sensetive, i'm scared, help? :(

  • @YILVB You will do fine. You don't always need teeth removed when you get braces. Talk with your orthodontist.

    Good Luck

    Dr. B

  • @facesortho Couldd you upload a video on the process of removing the glue leftover from the brackets? I may get my braces off soon and I'd like to see the removal process.

  • @ShadowLinkxMaster Good idea I will do that in the future.

    Dr. B

  • @YILVB Don't have your teeth pulled, watch my video, this is an outdated practice that only makes it easier for the ortho, your face will never look as good after he retracts it backwards to fill in the gaps, my jaw starts now behind my ears, I have TMJ, sleep apnea, and facial deformation, don't do it, good luck, please save your face and get a 2nd opinion.

  • @ccarrieb Well if your ortho couldn't make a good job that doesn't mean that the technique is not good...I had 1 extraction and the result was astonishing. I went to 3 orthos before mine, and they all thought I needed extractions, my mouth was asymmetrical and there was no other way to fix that. You need to admit that some cases NEED extractions, because there's no space and the bone is totally welded

  • @ccarrieb I still haven't met an ortho that does think that all cases can be fixed without extractions, sometimes when you try to preserve all the teeth the result is horrible too, you end up like a horse. Even with the new damon systems, and passive techniques the extractions are needed in some cases. Yours may just be a bad diagnostic

  • Michael Jackson singin' behind..Haha.=))

  • when then orthrodontist have to replace my brackets sometimes it hurts...i have the ceramic ones...do you have any idea why?

  • @DOOMLORDHOKAGE When a bracket or brace is placed on a tooth it is in a little different position, so when the wire is placed back in the braces the tooth with the new brace gets some extra pressure on it causing extra soreness for that tooth.

    Good Question

    Dr. B

  • does anyone notice the MJ is the backround?

  • I love my orthodontist he's so funny

  • I was just wondering, with ceramic braces, its always been described as "blending in with your natural teeth colour", and does that apply to even if you have slightly yellow teeth? or would it just make the teeth look, well, even more yellower?

  • @maddyx7 It depends on the type of ceramic brackets. Some are more translucent or clear and others are more opaque and white. But you could always whiten your teeth before the braces are placed. I'v never noticed a big difference in all the patients I've treated over the last 13 years.

    Good luck

    Dr. B

  • My teeth are chipped. I have traditional braces. Will the orthodontist file my teeth?? Does filing hurt?

  • @xoxosupermac18 That depends if your orthodontist feel confortable doing that and the degree of chipping. Ask him or her at your next visit.

    Dr. B

  • hi I have ceramic braces aswell but I have metal string on them dont you know where is it possible to find a keramic(or whatever material it is) strings?I am from europe :)

    Thx

  • @Peeeeeeeetah There are special wires that are coated to make them less visible. But the coating can sometimes slow down the movement of the teeth. In my office we usually do not use them, but ask your orthodontists if they have them.

    Good Question

    Dr. B

  • is it true that ceramic braces leave stains and actually make the treatment process longer?

  • @mskinkybeauty The amount of staining really depends on how well you are cleaning your teeth. Notice how clean the patient in the video's teeth are. There is no staining at all. But if you do a poor job with cleaning your can become stained and it is much more visible with clear braces. Poor hygiene can lead to longer treatment times.

    Good luck

    Dr. B

  • your spelt removing wrong......
