If the iphone 4 was only with Verizon..it would be the king of Smartphones hands down...what is amazing is that even with the iphone 4 being on a crappy, unreliable AT&T network, it is still a pretty fast phone.

You need 2 people when doing these browser tests..because the reviewer kept hitting the buttons on one phone before the other...don't kniow if he was nervous or what.
That being said, you can still get a good idea of just how fast both those phones are...Ilike the Droid X because of the larger screen size, but the iphone 4 is no slouch either

i love how people care so much which one can boot a web page faster when the difference is less than a second. Seriously it's based on your area for a lot of things. I live in New York and no one has any problems with iPhone 4 in anything...that includes the "deathgrip" because no one i know had that problem and the droid x is pretty much it's own thing. they are a matter of preference because they are both awesome. i'm getting an iPhone just because i like the music system better.

Yeah, and this is on WIFI. A real test would be having both phones in 3G doing the exact same thing. Not only could you test the speed of phones, but of the networks as well. I have had an iphone with AT&T and i wasn't too pleased with it. If the iPhone was offered through Verizon though, I would probably consider it.
Droid X is a better all around phone. Verizon's has unmatched signal quality and reliability. With at&t you get poor reception, but the apple makes a great product. If they had the Iphone for Verizon then it would be a real competition. Win goes to the Droid X. Legacy of the IPhone is now over.

zollotech, I'm not sure you've had any experience with Samsung products. But I have the Samsung Omnia II (just got it last week). Would you recommend that I exchange it for the Droid X when it is released tomorrow? I just love the looks of that phone. I don't mind a "big" phone at all, just seems to me everything would be easier on it, games, movies, and especially texting with a larger keypad. I really have a hard time with my small Omnia keypad, although I do like the Skype feature.

@Zbreter I appreciate feedback, when you say step it up what do you mean? The reason I ask is often times I am told I do better reviews than most. I would be happy to incorporate what you are talking about.
@zollotech For starters, get a tripod, it will help with not having to hold a cam and mess with phones, along with making your video look more professional. And for browser speed test, instead of trying to hit the go button at the same time, hold it down on both phones then release at the same time. Also, maybe try leaving pages in memory on both phones, or proving that you cleared cache on both phones.
@Zbreter You watched the one video where I did not use a tripod. Almost every video I have uses one. I think me saying that I cleared the cache on both phones is enough. As for hitting at the same time I agree. I have a review coming up thought that should be more thorough.
@Zbreter Also, it depends who the person is watching. Some want you to go through things thoroughly while others just want to know you did what you said. It's tough to balance.
@zollotech how about do a test of the TRUE multi tasking on the droid x comapred to the SO CALLED multitasking on the iphone. open the browswer on both phones. take the iphone and start loading a page and while that page is loading switch apps. then do the same on the droid x. you will find that when you open the browser on the iphone again it will be in the same place loading as you left it. the droid will have finished loaded the page THUS TRUE multitasking :)
@yfzfofitty06 I can do that, but you will see the iPhone does do true multitasking depending on how the app maker designs it. I did the test you suggested and the iPhone does not start where I left off in the browser. When I open the browser again I get the page fully loaded. While this is not true with every app, things such as navigation apps, music and the browser can load and run in the background when you exit them. When using Navigon or GPS Drive they will continue in the background.
@zollotech thats weird unless you must have the only iphone 4 in the world that does this lol.. because all the reviews ive read plus personal experience with them 8 out of 8 that ive done this with the browser freezes in the back ground and doesnt finish loading until its reopened. the music players continue to the play in the background but the browser does not
@yfzfofitty06 So I did that a couple more times with the browser and found mixed results. It generally flashed where you left off and then immediately goes to the finished page. Personally I don't need multitasking other than for GPS apps and music. It is nice to start where you left off in games though. I personally will take this over the baqttery drain you get from multiple apps running. That said I understand others have their own opinion how it should work or what they want to run.
@zollotech its not multitasking though it just freezes the app with the exception of some but most importantly the browser does not. Dont get me wrong i thing the iphone is a nice phone other than the so called "HUGE CHANGES" it was suppose to be bringing to the cell phone world. put iphone on verizons network and i will own one but until then the deal breaker for me and most people is its on ATT's network.
@yfzfofitty06 Yeah for me not a big deal, but I understand others want other things. As for Verizon....where I live I honestly get better reception quality on AT&T. I also get better data speeds on AT&T by quite a bit as well. I know this is not the case for most, but from what I understand, upstate NY is a test market for AT&T.
@zollotech well i live in southern louisiana. and it seems like every other month ATT is having some major issues and all my friends with ATT lose their 3g coverage and can hardly make calls for a couple days. but your right different areas will have diferent experiences but for the most part EVERYONE seems to agree verizon has the better coverage of the two. CNET listed top 5 reasons why not to buy an iphone 4 1 of which was because it will come to verizon soon
@yfzfofitty06 No doubt most people have better luck with Verizon, but if their network was bombarded by the amount of iPhones out there they would have the same issues. I know for most AT&T is not the best, but in my experience here it is completely different. 3G is just about everywhere up here and there is good signal stregth as well. That is no to say I never drop a call.
I am interested to try out froyo and do comparisons. I also have a new camera on the way too so that should help too.
@zollotech lol tripod??????? it seems alot better sources are starting to firmly believe iphone will be on verizons network around january 2011 when verizon opens their 4g. if that does indeed happen i think ATT will see a large decrease in their users. I have alot of friends that switched from verizon just to get the iphone but hate the service and agree they had better coverage with verizon.

@yfzfofitty06 I live in Louisville KY and we have that same issue where we lose service and can hardly make calls too. We pay $240 a month and we are so waiting for our contract to end. We've been with AT&T 8 years and the service has gotten worse the last 3 years.
@zollotech also as for the comparison keep in mind that droid X will be upgraded with the 2.2 froyo not long after its release. and if you go check out some comparisons of the iphone 4 vs. the nexus one with froyo the froyo is WAYYYYYYY faster than the iphone 4 even when its loading flash data

@4n9us The Apple routers are quite good. They are easy to setup, support many wireless connections at once and in this case has a hard drive inside for backup. They also support ipv6 and are not thought of as low end routers by network engineers.
@OCDreviewer I have not used the Droid 2 yet, but the buttons on the touch screen are nice and big and make texting easier on a touch screen than other phones

A big reason why I chose the Droid X is because of Swype,
Speak to text and you dont have to work with ITunes and you can use drag and drop features with media files.
Huge mistake by Apple if they dont get Swype ASAP, its a huge advantage typing.

@zollotech thats weird unless you must have the only iphone 4 in the world that does this lol.. because all the reviews ive read plus personal experience with them 8 out of 8 that ive done this with the browser freezes in the back ground and doesnt finish loading until its reopened. the music players continue to the play in the background but the browser does not

@yfzfofitty06 So I did that a couple more times with the browser and found mixed results. It generally flashed where you left off and then immediately goes to the finished page. Personally I don't need multitasking other than for GPS apps and music. It is nice to start where you left off in games though. I personally will take this over the baqttery drain you get from multiple apps running. That said I understand others have their own opinion how it should work or what they want to run.

@zollotech its not multitasking though it just freezes the app with the exception of some but most importantly the browser does not. Dont get me wrong i thing the iphone is a nice phone other than the so called "HUGE CHANGES" it was suppose to be bringing to the cell phone world. put iphone on verizons network and i will own one but until then the deal breaker for me and most people is its on ATT's network.

@yfzfofitty06 Yeah for me not a big deal, but I understand others want other things. As for Verizon....where I live I honestly get better reception quality on AT&T. I also get better data speeds on AT&T by quite a bit as well. I know this is not the case for most, but from what I understand, upstate NY is a test market for AT&T.

@zollotech well i live in southern louisiana. and it seems like every other month ATT is having some major issues and all my friends with ATT lose their 3g coverage and can hardly make calls for a couple days. but your right different areas will have diferent experiences but for the most part EVERYONE seems to agree verizon has the better coverage of the two. CNET listed top 5 reasons why not to buy an iphone 4 1 of which was because it will come to verizon soon

@yfzfofitty06 No doubt most people have better luck with Verizon, but if their network was bombarded by the amount of iPhones out there they would have the same issues. I know for most AT&T is not the best, but in my experience here it is completely different. 3G is just about everywhere up here and there is good signal stregth as well. That is no to say I never drop a call.
I am interested to try out froyo and do comparisons. I also have a new camera on the way too so that should help too.

@zollotech lol tripod??????? it seems alot better sources are starting to firmly believe iphone will be on verizons network around january 2011 when verizon opens their 4g. if that does indeed happen i think ATT will see a large decrease in their users. I have alot of friends that switched from verizon just to get the iphone but hate the service and agree they had better coverage with verizon.

@yfzfofitty06 this is one video where I did not have a tripod on me. Almost every video I do is on a tripod. I agree if the rumor is true, you will see quite a few defect to Verizon after their contract is up

@zollotech yeah verizon would hav those issues in 2006. Android uses more data on verizon alone than iphone and verizon is doing VERY well.

@yfzfofitty06 I live in Louisville KY and we have that same issue where we lose service and can hardly make calls too. We pay $240 a month and we are so waiting for our contract to end. We've been with AT&T 8 years and the service has gotten worse the last 3 years.

@zollotech also as for the comparison keep in mind that droid X will be upgraded with the 2.2 froyo not long after its release. and if you go check out some comparisons of the iphone 4 vs. the nexus one with froyo the froyo is WAYYYYYYY faster than the iphone 4 even when its loading flash data

@yfzfofitty06 ....I bet multitasking with a Droid sucks the living life out of the battery....lol. See if you can multitask for 4 hours straight without recharging. The iPhone approaches multitasking differently. There are pros and cons to both.

@trentlot1 iphone approaches multitasking by not true multitasking lol thats the difference and also not all apps are capable of multitasking period. i highly doubt it would drain the batter on the droid x also i mean maybe if you ran a shitload of apps in the back ground that were working but there would be no need for that. as for the multitasking while browsing there is a need for that and the iphone just simply freezes what your doing while browsing and wnt load anything while ur out of safa

@4n9us The Apple routers are quite good. They are easy to setup, support many wireless connections at once and in this case has a hard drive inside for backup. They also support ipv6 and are not thought of as low end routers by network engineers.
