  • i remember having an asthma attac when they were playing this in sound chek lol i miss those times <3 love from mexicoo!

  • nice!

  • The 2nd mvmt. might just be my favorite ballad ever. I really like how they added the singer in there, and the guard is awesome.

  • WHATS THE NAME OF THE CLOSER!!!

    its so AWESOME!

  • haha you can see my horn spin right before the small ensemble! ^__^ my favorite show marched

  • The ending is awesome! One of my favorite endings in a band show. I also love the chord right around 8:31.

  • This was good, but the vocalist at 3:52 was kinda a diversion. This is supposed to focus on the band. If I were a judge, I would have counted a point or two off for that.

  • man i would have hated to be the band that was coming in after them... they must have been like DANG we just lost!! Lmao

  • What do they 2 big flags say at 7:22?

  • there are alot of inmature ppl commenting on this vid......avon you guys are amazing and you keep winning grand nats because you all deserve it

  • best show ive ever seen

  • This show is kinda demented. But beautiful in it's sentiment. I love that. They praise God but then hate each other. So deep and just above and beyond what you'd expect from a marching band show. And if you look at the videos from earlier that year of this show. The words were not on the signs. I don't know if that was intentional to avoid complications at school performances or what but I think that this is a beautiful show. I'm still jazzed about the entire thing and I've watched this A LOT.

  • @laughingstock133 The reason the words were not on the signs in previous shows was the flags weren't made yet. All of the guards flags and the banners were made by the parents throughout the year. There was a lot of sewing that had to be done that year and it was impossible to have them completed for some of the earlier shows.

  • Very much ode to Phantom Regiment

  • Avon's guard is amazing!

  • When she said "get the pistols," I think she meant "get the rifle"

  • No, I said "get the pistols". If you look at the girls coming onto the field they have their hands in the shape of a pistol aiming it around. My daughter wanted us to get it on vedio.

  • Ah, I see now, barely. My apologies, bent4fam.

  • that pistol thing that lady says is weird...and at 2:00 the contra that made the great recovery made it and within 4 seconds had to jazz run..thats hardcore

  • incredible drill

  • omg 433 you hear a women saying " get the pistol get the pistol" wtf?!? lol

  • @deadpope66 gonna shoot the director

  • she said get the sister btw

  • no, it's get the pistol. We wanted to make sure we filmed Amy doing the stupid pistol move over on the sidelines.

  • contra pinwheels at 1:50-56 are BEASTLY

Holy crap @ the contra at 1:52 on the left file in the very back... I'm suprised the dude held his balence.. AND made the spot/recovered. If you pause at the right spot, it really looks like he/she's gonna fall. O_o

    good job

  • I can see why Avon has won Grand Nationals for two years in a row. Superb marching and a very nice sound. Congrats guys on being the 2008 and 2009 Grand National Champions!

  • Its weird how there are 2 Avons, one in IN and OH, eh?

  • that would be sick if Avon created an Open Class corps funded by the school. Kinda like Gold was.

  • i'm gonna be honest. i don't really understand what this show is about.

  • To be honest..i agree with you. lol

  • Well It's called Mass-IV-e It's about religion sometimes but mainly it's about the massive factor of things people created like Religion and such, the four parts are Divide as such:

    1 - Critical Mass

2 - Weapons of Mass destruction

    3 - Mass Media

    4 - Mass exodus

  • What did the flags say at 7:23?

  • OMG

  • Wholly Cow, Seth40411...you are 45???? Really???..I figured you about 14.... You are getting way too much of a kick out of this!!....Really, 45???.....Besides, you sound a little JEALOUS what's up with that?? This show could have been about ANYTHING...and you would have had a nasty comment!..You must have a miserable life, to be so nasty.

  • unfortunately this band is win enough to be Grand National Champion.

  • well-educated apparently!!!!

    not MY cup of tea....

  • Unfortunately? Oh please Avon Is A force unrivaled by any band out there, it may seem like some people get close, like L.D. Bell or Marcus, but in reallity Avon Is on it's own level

  • Seth if you feel like declaring a high school marching band show unconstitutional, then do it. The Supreme Court will laugh your case out in a heartbeat. But seriously you sound pathetic going around trying to pick on a bunch of high school kids who work there tails off to have fun and compete.

  • Somebody please show me where in the constitution it says you can't have a marching band program that has a somewhat religious theme to it. Everyone seems to forget we have a freedom of religion not a freedom from religion. Would anybody be having this discussion if this was about witches and demons?

  • You are correct, Sir or Ma'am. As a music educator, it's important to provide a well-rounded education of both sacred and secular music to students because each is important in educational and historical terms to the growth of any musician. It's like learning about World Religions in Cultures class or History class. It's like learning about sacred art in Art History. you can;t ignore it's importance to the whole of the art. Period!

  • so perfect

  • I guess the founding fathers were wrong or they didn't write enough in plain English....they were able to believe in God and also recognized the need to respect the rights of everyone in a civil society...not just majority rules. Someone alluded to the fact that this school is a Christian school...and if that's the case... that's awesome!...but if not...not so awesome.

  • Funny that a catholic school that came in 4th had a show about science and its theorys, it really doesnt matter what the shows about. Its like when bands do Jesus Christ Superstar shows. This past year my bands show was about a love triangle and the end of the show the main characters made out on the field and no one got mad about that, infact some people claimed its what pushed our effect up enough for us to win state! (though I disagree) But really its about God, not forcing to believe in him

  • Your comments are well expressed. The people who believe in separation of church and state will never convince the religious sector of this country that the place for religion is in ones heart not on ones sleeve and in the church NOT in the school (unless it is a religion-affiliated school). IT IS THE LAW OF THE LAND however and a part of our Constitution. Trust me, God is well aware of his omnipotence and really doesn't need small little men to push their personal agendas....God is Great!

  • This must not be a public school...has anyone in IN heard of the separation of church and state?!....good band but a little churchy....there is a time and place...Belief in God is one thing but I seriously doubt that All of the kids in the band share that sentiment....it defies the odds. And if they don't agree 100% what an unfortunate infringement of their rights.

  • You obviously have no idea what this piece of music is about. It is all about defying the church. Avon has a great band program. They are my favorite class A band, and yes this is a public school. Keep doing your thing avon.

  • a band can make a show about whatever they want to. it's their right to. and it's the kid's right to quit the band if they really don't agree with the show. it's not like they're being forced to participate in it.

  • thank you bent4fam! apparently seth's brain is the one that is too small to understand that no where in the constitution does it say you can't have a marching band show somewhat religiously themed. the constitution is about EVERYONE having the freedom to express themselves. and if it be RELIGIOUSLY, (*gasp* what a TERRIBLE thing) than so be it! now seth, did i explain that in simple enough terms for you?

  • i'm not going to waste people's time that read these comments with the arguments i could pose to you. just keep in mind bent4fam's comment. would you be arguing with me this way if this show was about witchcraft or demons? this country is about having your own opinions, and i guess we each have our seperate views. God bless!

  • God bless you too! No need to debate witchcraft (it is not real); God is!

  • okay im a firm Christian. and you said that you were too. witchcraft is obviously real and im surprised you believe otherwise! and if you dont like avons show then just stop leaving comments on here. I see nothing wrong with our show from that standpoint.

  • How is witchcraft obviously real?....and I LOVED the show btw!!!!! Just curious about what's so obvious about witchcraft existing.

  • The Constitution only states how our Governtment should be run in any wrong doing and such

Bill of Rights 1st Amendment: Freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of religion.

now, can we stop making this political and talk about Avon's awesomeness???

  • lol 6:51

  • your all gonna get dominated this year anyways

  • Oh?

  • by who?

  • by jefferson hahaha XD

  • i miss this show lol it was sooo much funn -Kylie

  • freakin Symphony of Psalms, Love it.

  • we change so quick because we have our costumes layers and we just slip them off inbetween songs

  • what I am really impressed by is the number of girls in the guard who are so good with the rifles. You often see bands with 12 -16 good rifles, but 40 that's really impressive!

  • Total boss.

  • How do the guard change outfits so quickly?

  • I cant stand that now, in order to win Grand Nationals, you have to have a creepy, weird, dark, scary, eerie, ect. show, instead on just flat out entertaining, like DCI. I know no HS marching band will be nowhere close to good enough to perform the same calibur of shows that Drum Corps do, but they could be of the same type, just not as hard.

  • what is creepy or dark about his show???!, it's great music performed well

  • umm the final movement is about a mass exodus.... thats pretty dark

  • Is Ave Maria creepy/dark?

  • i dont just mean the music, but the whole theme of the show in general

  • @TakerFan55 not at all... Exodus is a departure involving a big group.. hence the term "Mass Exodus" and the Avon kids running off the field..

  • oh and not just this show, but LD bells 2007 show too, what was that?! that little girl was so creepy, and the last 3 minutes of the show the band is hiding under marshmellow things. but i really did enjoy bells 2008 show!

  • how on earth is the third song dark and creepy?

  • Not really....

Broken Arrow won in '06 I believe with their show 'Aqua'

Definately not a ' creepy, weird, dark, scary, eerie, ect. show'

  • I would like to retort....some high school marching bands are good enough to perform at the level of some drum corps. Maybe not the ones that perform in finals, but definitely some. Just because YOUR school may have sucked, it doesnt meant all high schools suck.

  • They lost State by 1 tenth of a point. They made a few changes and did a better job at BOA.

  • I would imagine it was the same way Lawrence Central lost each of their state championships, to Carmel in 2001, and to Avon in 2004, yet kept working and won BOA in each of those years. Examine the history of the activity before asking such questions.

  • Because every competition is based on the subjectivity of judges? Tell you what, come back and complain again when you have created a machine that will objectively judge every band by musical quality, visual performance, and general effect.

  • Comment removed

  • you cant compare any high school band to a drum corps so dont even try

  • Comment removed

  • ah I love pull overs. We did one my 10th grade year, they always are so unexpected and boom there it is.

  • what is the name of this show? i from hebron high school in carrollton tx and i just want to say mganicifent job!!!

  • The title of our show is MassIVe.

  • i LOVE the closer, it dear to my heart bc that was Lewis Cass' 2nd movement in 2000 when they did "Barriers", they used it as the violent period of the civil rights movement in tandem with "A Movement for Rosa"

  • well nothing against you or that drumline garegare.. they are good and all... but from what ive seen they just play loud...

  • Maybe it's the ivory color of the uniforms, or maybe it's the insane visual and musical perfection, but this band actually reminds me of Star of Indiana circa 1993 (which I still think is the standard modern marching arts are held up to.)

  • AWESOME....

  • nice im from ben davis just saying how great i think you guys are congrats

  • urg, when are they going to put the official video on youtube?

  • I don't think that will happen. I have noticed that Mr. Video online has been removing uploaded official videos, so I believe you'll actually have to fork out the bucks to get a legal copy, which is the right things to do anyway.

  • At the same time, it's sad how much BOA has turned into a money hungry organization.

  • Comment removed

  • BOA can't afford to have an official video on YouTube, sadly.

  • ohhhh,i get it

    the ending

the red flags are supposed to be the fires from hell, and their running away from it

    exept drumline

    (wonder why....XD)

  • i think its kinda hard to run as fast as the band with their harnesses. expecially bases but idk xD

  • Comment removed

  • actually.... the fourth song was called mass exodus, so the whole band runs off in an exit.

and since our show was somewhat religious, the whole guard ends with their arms out in a cross shape.

  • The whole show is actually very religious. The show is titles Massive. The title has the obvious meaning of big, but the word mass is hidden. I'm not completly sure what Mass is, but its something to do with the Catholic church. The first song also ends in a cross formation. The second song is Ave Maria. It is lattin, but in english it means Hail, Mary! Mary is the mother of Jesus. The third song is called God Said. The third song also includes lots of flags with things that "God Said".

  • @HecNetEstraCru I'm glad someone else notices that the drumline is still there. Haha.

  • ahhhhh...good times

  • This is the state finals. I think I would know. The I in ISSMA can also stand for Indiana. Those aren't BOA symbols. It is NFL and AFC logos.

  • wait what? the I in ISSMA stands for INDAIAN not for illinois and second avon never went to illinois so im not sure what you're talking about

  • Comment removed

  • This video is at ISSMA State Finals, just to be clear. LISTEN TO BENT4FAM! She put the video on here, after all.

  • From 9:00 to 9:45, is that from sound shape and color? Or some other dci show, it sounds extremely familiar! AWSOME!

  • Unique, funny, professional, and funny all at the same time! I just have to say this is my new favorite high school show! Great job at BOA!

  • Whoot! French Horns! Anyway, saw your routine here. Did a great job!

  • what exactly is this show about or called

  • Comment removed

  • The show is called MassIVe.

  • Sorry, my daughter is in the guard. I kind of had to.

  • As the Puerto Ricans say that QUE BRUTAL MI HERMANO!!! ... (is like a spectacular), jajaja. I congratulate you from Puerto Rico. I love your presentation. They have fans in the island's charm. Towards adelate and much success.

  • I'm so glad you guys won Grand Nats. I was begining to think that the judges were never going to get it right.

  • go LC!

  • I'm very proud to be a part of the Avon Marching Black and Gold.

    (:

    thank you all.

  • best band ever... best show ever... best guard... I saw this live and I almost cried thank you avon if anyone from avon reads this I worship you

  • Oh my freaking gosh! That is sick and I envy your show! I'm from the Highland High drumline and I wish we had a band like yours here in AZ!

  • :\ Way to have good camera skills. When I saw the show, and the first cymbal ran out of the field, I thought "Is he sick?" I was so confused.. Lol.

  • We had random people running off the field for dramatic effect in the last movement

  • haha lol most ppl thought that :P

  • That's how you end a show, drumline only on the field lol.

Sorry, i've just never seen a show with drumline in the middle by themselves at the end of a show. I thought it was neat.

But overall it was a great performance.

I'd like to see the professional recording of this though.

  • Hahahaha! So witty!

I seriously love that song XD Go Avon Band! :D :D :D

  • What did the flags at 7:20 say? Not the OMG flags (which I loved) but the ones that the guard was running with?

I am in love with this show! Haha. How big is Avon? I'm from an eensy weensy 1A 40 member band in California...haha.

I'd love to see an official video too! This video doesn't do it justice in my opinion ;)

  • What part of "thou shall not" ...did you not understand? God

  • What band?

  • for god's sake read the description...and the name of the video...and listen to the announcer. are you that dumb?

  • from reading your posts...you are a jerk!....must be nice to be so freakin' smart!...maybe you'll get to taste what it's like someday to not be cut any slack...remember, what goes around comes around...your due a good dose of bad karma.

  • so is this like the official video? when is the professional one coming??? or the national one...

  • No this is some one with a good camera.

the state one i dont know

nationals is comeing out in april mayish

  • this isn't the official video. Just a proud dad with a camera.

  • im in the guard. this was my first year. =]

it was a lot of hard work, but it was really fun!

  • I saw this show at state finals and I LOVED it! I play in the pitt =)

    Your show rocks!

    ~From Western~

  • just awesome.

  • at boa we went on like 2 bands before them or somthing like that, and when ever we was walking to go sit in the stands we saw them running off the feild and everyone was like WHATS GOING ON! and then it was just appart of there show...and everyone felt dumb

  • this band rocks!

  • i will be in this band next year

  • so will i.

  • awesome whats ur name i will probably know u i know lots of peeps in my school

  • shelby enlow...your name is..?

  • u wont no me but my name is Cory W.

  • ........

  • yea i know what you mean my band does a really different style than everyone but i like it gives u individuallity by the way i go to sprayberry and we went to BOA Atlanta this year did an amazing show but just didnt cut it

  • I really loved this show, I was hoping they'd win, but oh well

  • Until this show, Center Grove's 1999 performance of New Era Dance was my favorite marching performance. All I can say is WOW! Good job Directors, Design Staff, Color Guard Staff, Parents, and ESPECIALLY the STUDENTS! BRAVO!

  • hang on a bit, im confused...

what exactly is this show about?

  • I think it has to do with God's wrath....? I really don't know, but I'm curious about something here.....is Avon a Christian school? They're show started and ended like our show from last year. I'm in Concordia's band, by the way. Avon started with the Doxology and ended in a cross, like us.

Great job with winning BOA, also. Avon's band is AMAZING!!!! ^^ I LOVE your shows!

  • concordia?

is that in Indiana as well?

    im down here in texas.

and yeah, i would think that they're a christian school.

as much as I love them, i liked LD Bells show better.

    :P

  • Yeah, it is. We're a Christian school, too. We were SO close to making it to Semi-finals at BOA last year.

Remember when they took the top 33? We were 34th. I was especially surprised when Norwell didn't make it through. Their show was really good last year!

  • thats pretty cool, though, that you guys are that good!

my school just opened in 2006, so were just starting this years show was pretty cool, but next year is gonna be amazing.

    were going to state!

  • Thanks. ^^

Awesome! Good luck at State! We got 6th at our State competition this year. It's the best Concordia's ever done, too. ^^

    Go Cadets!

  • thanks!

you could check us out: wkeland hs band

the butterfly effect, look for week 8.

    what was your show?

  • Our show this year was called "The Joy Within".

  • ours was "Moonscapes" :P

  • And.....your school is...?

  • :O

Western High School of Russiaville, Indiana, Class C State Champions! XD

  • Wow....Congrats on winning State! It's too bad that we didn't get a chance to see your show this year. I'm sure it's on Indiana Marching, though.

Were you able to see ours? If so, what did you think if it?

  • Oh yeah, Concordia Lutheran! None of the State videos are on Indiana Marching yet, but yeah i saw your show, the one with the cubes? That pretty cool and unique; I liked it :P

Thanks for giving us good competition.

  • Sure thing! ^^ And I'm glad you liked our show!

I just can't believe that the season's over already! It felt too short. Then again, we did BOA last year. Did you do BOA at all?

  • Yeah, I know how you feel, I really wish it lasted a little longer, and no, we didn't do BOA, actually, haven't done BOA in awhile, kinda wish we did though.

  • I wish we did, too. It was neat to see all the bands from the different states.

  • Yeah, it's kinda cool to see all the different styles too

  • *nods* So, you play the sax, eh? I'm a flute player. ^^

I looked at your channel, which is how I knew that. Wanna come to my stream so we can talk about it a little more? The link's on my channel description.

  • what school do you go to?

  • Avon is a public School. The town of Avon is a suburb just west of Indianapolis.

  • Hmm.....That's interesting. Two years in a row they had Christian-esque shows.....hmm.....

  • Christian-esque? Meaning because they have a cross it's a Christian show? Well for one Requiem wasn't about Christianity, it was about death. And this year the song called God Said was chosen because it added different flavor to the show with 4 completely different themed songs.

  • Okay. It was strange how Avon started with the Doxology for on-field warm up and ended their show in a cross last year, just like us!

  • Avon always starts with the Doxology. It's been the hornline's song that they play before every show since the 90's.

Avon also had a cross in their show last lear.

Also, their theme this year was "MassIVe," in which their show was...Massive, and presented masses (hence the implying IV...a church mode), along with massive ideas- like religion, war, and a "mass exodus" at the end.
