Its just the PD's that have a recoil buffer that need to be changed, that was one of the reasons they designed a better recoil assembly into the Firestar series, sorry.
I actually know a guy who makes these recoil bumpers for Star pistols. I know the PD and others had a bumper pad that had to be replaced after 500 rds. I think the Firestar also has to. Look into it, theres supposed to be a few places to get them if your model requires it.
Nice review. Theres a local guy selling one like NIB for $350+2 extended mags. I'm thinking hard about buying it, theres something about the way it looks and I'm a revolver guy never messed with semi's. I heard you have to replace the recoil pad every 500 rounds, is that true?
Yes, the Star was based upon the 1911. Star improved upon the 1911 design by adding a multi external groove barrel for improved accuracy. I too can get 1.5" or smaller groups at 10 yards.
Wolf gunsprings makes a lighter hammer spring (12 lbs) that will bring the trigger pull down to around 4.5 lbs (no issues with light strikes at all) and I had my gunsmith replace the trigger return spring (a very heavy spring) and I got it down to 4 lbs even.
