@99Sorc it looks like he's trying way too hard to be blues. blues is supposed to be a smooth. SRV had the right blend of Hendrix and Albert King to where it caught your attention (Hendrix) but still was very smooth. this kid mixed two completely different GENRES together: metal and classic rock. he didn't play much blues. he's a shredder, not a blues man. he's making noise, not music. and his vocal "growling" is annoying as hell...
I agree man, his rhythm is so bad. It's usually the number 1 mistake that most guitar players make, hell even me I still do that every now and than after 5 years of playing.

@sixstring4 have you ever heard SRV? He played tons of notes whenever the hell he wanted. Many of the licks are SRV licks. Whats wrong with breaking norms and seeing what rules he can bend/break. Yeah, it's not going to work every time, but I give him credit for trying to experiment with the song and adding his own style and soul into it. If anything, his experimentation adds more soul to it, just not the soul you want or expect.
Slow back tracks don't mean a lead has to be slow pace.
@l0lercaust with SRV bringing blues to the main stream in the mid eighties, you got all these rock players trying to capture his "Blues Feel". Most of them thinking all they need to do is to play "Blues Licks" and play them as fast as they can, not careing if they fit or not. This has in many ways, did what Wave Jazz did to Jazz. Sure, playing super fast is entertaining to most, but blues is a feeling..not a freak show. This kid probley can't tell a story to save his life.

this kid has skills no doubt, but he should try to develop his own style and sound, hes still young, ive bone the same thing i used to learn stevies songs note for note, but found it much more challenging to play his songs but draw on the styles of other great blues men, a great way to compose guitar licks is by singing or scatting your ideas into a recorder and figuring them out on guitar later, this way you arent limited by the scales or licks you already know
he is still very young, he has great ability. he just needs to get the blues. He is definitely playing the blues, just very fast and his way. When he gets old enough to realize what real music is, I imagine he will stop the shredding and we will see some amazing music from this guy. Just give it time.
This kids sound is NOTHING like Stevie!!! Don't say that he's a terrible blues guitarist cuz he's not. He's playing the blues chords just really fast which i don't particularly like but it's not bad.

With all due respect, would you be able to play better then Fredrik? He is an amazing guitar prodigy and has been able to play circles around most guitar players of today since the young age of 12. He already has his own C.D. out and is not even 16 yet! If he plays this well now, just imagine how good he will be in his young 20's! Keep up the great work Fredrik, you will most certainly be one of the all time legendary guitar players that blues fans will remember for years to come!

That sort of understanding of the blues comes with age I think. I would say that as soon as he gets his heart broken he will know what it means to really play the notes as they should be played.

The fact he's a better player than me, doesn't change the fact that for me, he lacks taste & nuance. His note selection is not great and he overplays. Frankly he sounds as though he's not listening, but rather playing his best prefabricated licks and making sure he includes as many of them as possible.
Listening to the playing, not taking into account the fact that he's young, I have to say it's pretty horrible.

Is it just me or has anyone noticed that Jimi Hendrix played with his guitar upside down. oh well it still came out Ok. You just dont play a guitar upside down! Jimi knows nothing about the Blues. everyone says it cant be done until someone does it and then they say nwell no one but them can. LOL whatever. # 1 mistake is letting other ppl think for u. Im sure this kid blows all of you away .

Damnit! Sorry kid but you are really good however Texas blues rock is more blues than rock and you're trying to hard to make it more rock than blues. I know Stevie Ray Vaughan is smilin right now cause you are keeping his dream alive, and his dream was to have people remember him and play his music long after his death, and you are doing that. this kid has skills no doubt, but he should try to develop his own style and sound, hes still young, ive bone the same thing i used to learn stevies songs note for note, but found it much more challenging to play his songs but draw on the styles of other great blues men, a great way to compose guitar licks is by singing or scatting your ideas into a recorder and figuring them out on guitar later, this way you arent limited by the scales or licks you already know

he is still very young, he has great ability. he just needs to get the blues. He is definitely playing the blues, just very fast and his way. When he gets old enough to realize what real music is, I imagine he will stop the shredding and we will see some amazing music from this guy. Just give it time.

Hey guys lay off. It's pretty tough for a Norwegian to have a Texas drawl. Sure, blues comes from the gut but the kid does a real good job with the licks. It is absurd to compare him with Stevie since there will never be another Stevie.

Cmon, LLTBlues, ..its the blblb that makes it so fkng cool.. He playes the slow parts great and topps it off with his blblbl's..its bout taste in music.. SRV played Hendrix's songs but he didnt sound like Hendrix. Fredrik playes SRV with his touch. And its awesome in my book coz of the blblbblb.

@whosnext1234567 I suggest you look him up playing this same song when he was 12 years old. he is taking a page from SRV's book and taking a famous blues song and adding to it. Stevie was famous for adding to others songs like jimi hendrix little wing which was 2.5mins until stevie made it 7.5mins without any lyrics. stevie wailed on most songs and nearly ripped his whammy bar off at every show. Blues purists would have said he was to rock n roll back then too. this kid is playing blues guitar

The thing you gotta remember about musicians is that how they are on stage is seperate from how they are in real life. Some are quiet and reserved at home but when they get up on that stage, they become something else entirely! Do you play? Can you do better? Than prove it! If not, shut up!

@2007blazedale Quiet yourself!!!! Stevie was not famous for what he didnt play he was famous for wailing and nearly ripping his whammy bar off his guitar. He was the one who would take songs like jimi hendrix little wing which is 2.5mins long and streching them to 7.5 minutes long and removing all the lyrics. This kid has obviously taken a note from SRV there and made this his own by adding tons more notes. All blues musicians play each others songs and respect each other. just enjoy it

With all due respect, would you be able to play better then Fredrik? He is an amazing guitar prodigy and has been able to play circles around most guitar players of today since the young age of 12. He already has his own C.D. out and is not even 16 yet! If he plays this well now, just imagine how good he will be in his young 20's! Keep up the great work Fredrik, you will most certainly be one of the all time legendary guitar players that blues fans will remember for years to come!

he's gotten better. There si something that he's missing though, and it's the release in the licks. Sure he can play fast, but he needs to stop and get some of those broken heart cords in there.
MUCH MORE this time around compared to video of him at 12 y/o. Great backup band too.

The fact he's a better player than me, doesn't change the fact that for me, he lacks taste & nuance. His note selection is not great and he overplays. Frankly he sounds as though he's not listening, but rather playing his best prefabricated licks and making sure he includes as many of them as possible.
Listening to the playing, not taking into account the fact that he's young, I have to say it's pretty horrible.
