  • I know English isn't even his first language, so I'm aware of what a good job he is doing, but I piss myself when I hear this guy sing.....

  • Agreed.real blues GARY CLARK JR.ERIC GALES AND ROBERT RANDOHN,THESE are the best new blues artists. You are born with the soul these guys have,it cannot be taught.Gary Clark Jr is the best male vocalist period at singing any kind of music. He is eric Clapton's favorite artist today.

  • Anyone who says this is good blues really don't know what they are talking about...

And I'm not talking only about the kid with the guitar playing a bunch of meaningless notes but also about the grooveless band.

  • His microphone is crap. That is the ONLY thing wrong with this video.

Holy shit, he's good. Even his vox are damn good.

  • @danyetman And I don't even LIKE SRV music.

  • Being able to play fast and still have soul in your sound is tough to do, but this kid does it well. .

  • The reaction of a lot of people (guitarists especially) when they see someone impressive is to get jealous and look for negatives to make themselves feel better. I've been listening to and playing blues rock for nearly 40 years and this guy has it down. He should read between the lines and take most of any negativity on here as a compliment.

  • this kid is good.. but i just dont like his style.. however maybe its just this recording

  • STFUYSB! THIS GUY ROCKS DA BLUZ IN hiz own sweet way! yeah, complain bout my spellin too whilst yer at it. It's jest rat doncha know? I know how to spell and this cat? He KNOWS! Don't like it, like baby u r square!!! I LUV SRV and I LUV Larry Davis. I even LUV u haterz. Y'all r jest mad you caint speaka da lingo of da Jingo. Or Django. Merdre! Tu me fait shiet! Vraimont salots

Luv, Bluzie Dadz AKA UBU ROI Le Pere des DADA PS: alla U HATERZ SUCK! Y'all Ain't got no SOUL, BABIES! Bluzman out!!!

  • This kid is and always will be better than anyone on the thread. Anyone saying he isn't feeling it or stupid shit like that most likely doesn't even know how to play a guitar.

  • @kotsi42 Could not agreed more to that dude!!!

  • Nothing wrong with this, no need to hate it.

I personally think that the original by Larry Davis is the best, check it know for those who do not know. SRV only covered that song......

  • oh my god you 30-50 year old jealous guys need to shut up... "this ain't the blues" etc... who the bloody cares? we're just having fun with music ok?? if you're not up to that, then click "back" in your browser and listen to howlin' wolf or some other vintage shit like that..

  • @MyLifeChanger Hell yea, and amen to that..eheheh :)

  • wow stfu all you haters , i mean im 15 i can almost play like this and im jelous and i know most of you are too give him a break

  • Give the kid a break... he's 15 in this, his voice is breaking, and he doesn't speak English. Even with those things handicapping him, I'd still rather listen to him than any one of you! I don't expect perfection from a child. Freddie Halland, Tallan Noble Latz, Luciano Pizzichini, Quinn Sullivan and others under 16 years old make the future of the blues shine on the future horizon. UTROLIG JOBB FREDRIK! (It's Norwegian... go learn something)

  • This kid is great. But his only downfall is that he wants to blast out speed the whole song. But phrasing comes with time, he is going to be great though.

  • well he is ok at guitar but needs lot of help singing

  • i think he should practice steve vai song than to play blues & sing, so terrible..!!!

  • "he plays without soul.. blah blah blah". Bullshit.

All I can hear are the voices of bitter, jealous losers, aching for his talent.

He clearly enjoys what he plays, and how he plays it, I hope he continues to do well.

  • the concept of blues is left to our very own original interpretation of it. if he feels that what he's playing is blues, then it is to him. What the heck do you people know about what he's feeling. get up there and do a better job cmon...

  • his face looks like he's taking a dump. O.O

  • @avin4723 cuz it feels good ;)

  • @99Sorc it looks like he's trying way too hard to be blues. blues is supposed to be a smooth. SRV had the right blend of Hendrix and Albert King to where it caught your attention (Hendrix) but still was very smooth. this kid mixed two completely different GENRES together: metal and classic rock. he didn't play much blues. he's a shredder, not a blues man. he's making noise, not music. and his vocal "growling" is annoying as hell...

  • @avin4723

I agree man, his rhythm is so bad. It's usually the number 1 mistake that most guitar players make, hell even me I still do that every now and than after 5 years of playing.

Oh not saying he can't play the guitar, he shouldn't play this so fast, what 99Sorc already said, he's making noise with alot of shredding. I'd love to see him playing something else with more rhythm without fast playing.

    This aint blues anymore.

Btw, why is he looking up all the time with his mouth open?

  • @avin4723

Calling metal "noise" is just ignorant and insulting. Calling this "metal" is just ignorant and stupid.

Calling his vocalwork "growling" is also ignorant and stupid. He doesn't use that much distortion, it doesn't have a metal sound at all. Metal guitar? Metal hair? Metal moves, metal attitude? No! Shredding is just a different way of going into a trance whilst playing. Expression. Impression.

If you want growling, listen to Cradle of Filth.

  • not so good as srv, sorry

  • he plays good but he doesn't feel the blues man. he's just trying to shred his ass off and show off. blues you play what you feel not what you think will impress people. and he's like norwegian or some shit. blues my ass lol

  • maybe he can be more talented of playing guitar than srv, but he's not a gifted person to create the amazing songs and melody just like srv did in his history of life. srv's songs live forever . in other word, frederik, you are being famous from srv's soul of music..

  • i think its time for him to make more creative and soul techniques of soloing.it doesnt mean you are good just when u play the high speed on pentatonic blues without soul.because srv could bring or deliver more soul in so many different ways and every scale got its own meaning direct or indirectly to the listener & audience..

  • @hermanhenry78 Exactly.

  • boxy solo.

  • Sounds like all generic rock solos, repeating one thing.

  • Hallo....he is only a kid, yes it is at hard thing to realize that you even not can play guitar like an 15 years old school boy. Magine when he is 30 years old?

  • He can copy SRV but he can't play with the soul and strength of SRV. Stevie played with energy and power. This chap is not close to capturing it.

  • This is not a blues.... Blues is lost for him :)

  • wtf everyones saying this kid is fast, but doesnt have soul. who are any of you to say that?? you see the long vibrato on every note, when he closes his eyes and and cranks out a huge bend? if your saying this kid doesnt play with soul.. you dont have a soul. thats like saying srv didnt play with soul. jealous dumbasses.^^

  • ah man, this kid has all the licks down but no soul. what a shame.

  • Slow blues+ many notes= NO SOUL!

  • @sixstring4 have you ever heard SRV? He played tons of notes whenever the hell he wanted. Many of the licks are SRV licks. Whats wrong with breaking norms and seeing what rules he can bend/break. Yeah, it's not going to work every time, but I give him credit for trying to experiment with the song and adding his own style and soul into it. If anything, his experimentation adds more soul to it, just not the soul you want or expect.

Slow back tracks don't mean a lead has to be slow pace.

  • @l0lercaust with SRV bringing blues to the main stream in the mid eighties, you got all these rock players trying to capture his "Blues Feel". Most of them thinking all they need to do is to play "Blues Licks" and play them as fast as they can, not careing if they fit or not. This has in many ways, did what Wave Jazz did to Jazz. Sure, playing super fast is entertaining to most, but blues is a feeling..not a freak show. This kid probley can't tell a story to save his life.

  • @sixstring4 He probably can't, he's only 18 and a prodject of technical talent for the moment, give him time. I'm sure he's herd these criticisms and in a few years it'll affect his playing style.

  • I wanna see him shred against John Mayer (though I know Fredric would win)

  • Oh I beg to differ whosnext1234567. In my humble opinion, I do believe that this young man understands the Blues quite well and in ways I wish that more young musicians his age and those who are older and more experienced and who should know better, do not. I get your point, but I'm not hearing Rock Blues, but the Electric Blues with an edge and to my ears, there is quite a big difference between the two. Again, just my opinion. Peace.

  • playing blues without having pubes sounds exactly like this kid

  • @ttmaniax You may not know anything about word play. The law enforcment and milatary use it for obtaining information, thanks for your contribution.

  • well if anyone out there was thinkin they were goin to be the next great guitar player you all better hope he doesnt learn english ( and i mean to speak it clearly) anytime soon

  • first jimi, then stevie , now its halland

  • Is it just me or has anyone noticed that Jimi Hendrix played with his guitar upside down. oh well it still came out Ok. You just dont play a guitar upside down! Jimi knows nothing about the Blues. everyone says it cant be done until someone does it and then they say nwell no one but them can. LOL whatever. # 1 mistake is letting other ppl think for u. Im sure this kid blows all of you away .

  • @MegaDancingdog If you had kept your mouth shut we wouldn't be thinking you were a moron right now. When I say "we" I mean me and the mouse in my pocket, so yeah.

  • Not bad for 14 (might be 17 now).

  • Hører du på noe Hellbillies? ;) Nydelig gitar forresten! Men hvilken gitar var den du brukte da du var yngre?

  • i swear me and him have the same problem ofplaying that lick constantly well when i try to play hardrock i dont play fast when its blues

  • He is a phenominal guitarist, nobody can deny that. Lol I just learned how to play the whole song texas flood yesterday and I'm super jealous of this kid, but his facial expression make him look fucking retarted lol

  • Maybe he need to smoke a blunt then revisit the blues for some added depth. Notwithstanding the blunt, he is kicking ass.

  • Good cover

  • he kinda looks and sounds like a chick but awsome feel !

  • so so if i must say. if you want a good prodigy child, then go look at joe bonamassa when we was young. nuff said

  • Well I am no guitar player but at my age I have seen some of the best in the business live and this kid is good ,

Sure there is maturity and all that but I see the potential for greatness

I mean folks in 1978 Van Halen released their first record and young Eddie Van Halen was born

So this good instead of these pop fart bands that American Idol and all other karaoke inspired singers here we have a kid that has talent and deserves a record deal with someone that can nurture him

  • He has a lot of maturing to do. He's a great player... Great. Yet he doesnt have that "soul" yet you know. Give him 10 years of gigging, then he'll get it.

  • cant imagine how much pussy he gets a day

  • Are you inspired by Hendrix?

  • pretty good guitar performance but never heard such an awful singing.

  • Damnit! Sorry kid but you are really good however Texas blues rock is more blues than rock and you're trying to hard to make it more rock than blues. I know Stevie Ray Vaughan is smilin right now cause you are keeping his dream alive, and his dream was to have people remember him and play his music long after his death, and you are doing that. Just stop trying so hard.

  • Amazing playing, great guitar, but he needs a different amp :)

  • Amazing, but he needs a real amp :)

  • every single person on this thread needs to be quiet because not a single person on this thread is a better guitar player than he is or ever will be. so stop making stupid excuses like ''he doesnt play with soul'' or any of those dumbass excuses. no one on this thread will ever be a better guitar player than him.

  • no mileage

  • this kid has skills no doubt, but he should try to develop his own style and sound, hes still young, ive bone the same thing i used to learn stevies songs note for note, but found it much more challenging to play his songs but draw on the styles of other great blues men, a great way to compose guitar licks is by singing or scatting your ideas into a recorder and figuring them out on guitar later, this way you arent limited by the scales or licks you already know

  • he is still very young, he has great ability. he just needs to get the blues. He is definitely playing the blues, just very fast and his way. When he gets old enough to realize what real music is, I imagine he will stop the shredding and we will see some amazing music from this guy. Just give it time.

  • He plays good and i love SRV (God rest his soul), but i'm really sorry this boy just doesn't feel the blues..

  • MAN GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!! ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!

  • This kids sound is NOTHING like Stevie!!! Don't say that he's a terrible blues guitarist cuz he's not. He's playing the blues chords just really fast which i don't particularly like but it's not bad.

  • i agree with whosnext.....sometimes its what you dont play.....

  • why am i even watching this when i could be watching SRV play. This guy is good... at shredding and hes very fast, but i am sorry, he aint feeling the blues...

Its easy to play the blues but very hard to feel it...

  • this dude is good but he needs to learn that less is more becuase i bet you would feel more soul in a better who didnt try too hard to make it better

  • I wish he would close his mouth, he looks like tickle me elmo.

  • he was better when he was 12. it was pure then. now it's contrived. too bad, I thought he was going to be the next great guitarist.

  • You have no soul! You got the technique, but no clue about the music that your playing.

  • Du spiller ikke med sjel, gutt! Du har teknikk osv, men null peiling!

  • all his face reactions moves and etc are a copy paste of SRV's style...be yourself and start feeling the music...

  • Hey guys lay off. It's pretty tough for a Norwegian to have a Texas drawl. Sure, blues comes from the gut but the kid does a real good job with the licks. It is absurd to compare him with Stevie since there will never be another Stevie.

Hey kid, if you ever make it to Austin, I'll take you to Antone's where Stevie used to play. Moreover I'll take your picture next to Stevie's statue :)

  • This kid obviously knows how to play, so what makes you people think he can't write his own stuff.

  • And Fredrik is a badass!

  • just take it easy on him, He is still a kid. I think he will learn over time.

  • Exactly what 2007blazedale and whosnext1234567 said

  • THIS IS PRETTY AWESOME. I AM INTO STUFF LIKE THIS MYSELF. I love this shit, man. Awesome.

  • Cmon, LLTBlues, ..its the blblb that makes it so fkng cool.. He playes the slow parts great and topps it off with his blblbl's..its bout taste in music.. SRV played Hendrix's songs but he didnt sound like Hendrix. Fredrik playes SRV with his touch. And its awesome in my book coz of the blblbblb.

  • he is someone who is very good, but blow away all of his tricks straight away i mean he plays really fast then really fast and the same he has to change in stage to keep all eyes on you and make the performance interesting. i mean hag a note bend a note and leave it for a while dnt just blblblblbblbl constantly.

  • brilliant but too much guitar he plays too much he needs to learn what not to play

  • He is doin pretty well, I think the listener should listen to the original - 1958 version by Larry Davies, you'll see the difference in terms of soul man, that is the real Texas thing man. But he IS DOIN WELL man c'mon whats the problem?

  • no one on this thread is better than him at guitar but hey its easy to be jealous

  • @kotsi42, I would have to disagree, stevie ray vaughan played this with much more feel and intensity, bu the kid is an excellent guitar player.

  • I don't like him. Too Noisy...

  • cut him some slack , he's very talented

  • Comment removed

  • @whosnext1234567 I don't no if you can blame him. theres not much else to do with the blues. its been reinvented several times by jimi and SRV. There isn't much else he can do. he can shred and is natural, hes trying to be something different but is failing

  • @whosnext1234567 let him play what he wants. stevie played faster licks than that/

  • @whosnext1234567 I suggest you look him up playing this same song when he was 12 years old. he is taking a page from SRV's book and taking a famous blues song and adding to it. Stevie was famous for adding to others songs like jimi hendrix little wing which was 2.5mins until stevie made it 7.5mins without any lyrics. stevie wailed on most songs and nearly ripped his whammy bar off at every show. Blues purists would have said he was to rock n roll back then too. this kid is playing blues guitar

  • @whosnext1234567 hes not tapping he is bending the notes, ripping up and down the neck and working BLUES SCALES. nothing like van halen

  • @whosnext1234567 imo, blues is about how much soul you put into your music...and he definitely has soul

  • @whosnext1234567 OOOOR

fell in love 50 times and get dumped every time

    he's a teenager, he'll get it soon

  • @whosnext1234567 Hmmm....have you never listened to Stevie Ray Vaughan. Good lord Stevie played just as quickly sometimes, and OOZED feeling and soul. Now this dude is NO Stevie...but you cant just say that since he played fast at times that he wasnt playing with his heart and enjoyed it. You don't know what he's feeling when he plays?

Go listen to some SRV and tell me he didn't play like a fast brutal monster... Again, this guy is NO SRV. But who are you to say that "he doesn't get it"?

  • i can't believe this kids been playin the blues for nearly 7 years, and still pulls off these shredding parts...it just doestn't suit the blues...

when i saw him as a 12 year old I thought he would learn.... but he hasn't, he needs to learn what not to play

  • He trying to be copy of SRV ! unfortunely!! weak!!!

  • when he plays guitar it kinda looks like u got hit in the nuts really really hard well whatever good job

  • he is awsome guitar player!

  • He's playing blues the way Yngwie Malmsteen would. It's good or bad depending on person to person. I like it though

  • good job young man!!! keep on!!!

  • Also, I'm truly not trying to be mean, but this song does not fit his voice at all.

  • tries to play 2 fast all the time

  • I go to school with Fredrik. And he does not try to act cool. His actually a very shy guy. But when he starts playing he makes the wildest faces..And damn he can play

  • Most great guitar players make faces. B.B. King, Jonny Lang, Buddy Guy, Watch them, they make extremely funny faces, but they can play.

  • >jonny lang

    >great guitar player

    ha, no.

  • @MoreGilmour I'm sure you're better than he is. What with all your great videos on your channel.

  • The thing you gotta remember about musicians is that how they are on stage is seperate from how they are in real life. Some are quiet and reserved at home but when they get up on that stage, they become something else entirely! Do you play? Can you do better? Than prove it! If not, shut up!

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, actually it does matter if you can play or not, fucker! You obviously know nothing about the blues yourself, so why don't you take your pansy faggot ass and shut the hell up before you hurt yourself trying to run with the big dogs?

  • dude dude dude, 2007 blazedale. i totally agree with you. he keeps repeating the same licks again........and cant play slowly. like bbking. simplicity....

  • @joshua9312 bb king is a monster, this guy repeat the same like 10000 times ^^

  • @2007blazedale He's still just a kid man give him a break. He hasn't matured enough to realize what the blues is.

  • @2007blazedale this kid´s technique might be good, but his voice sucks and your are right, theres no soul in his playing.

  • @2007blazedale He's just a kid doing a show you dumbfuck. he's not Stevie ray vaughan.

  • @tigre143 Nooooo Realy thanks for clearing that up for me. WOW your so smart. You must be the dumb one since thats exactly what I was saying. He just needs to mature. And he has since when he first started. Sooooo...UP YOURS!

  • @2007blazedale Quiet yourself!!!! Stevie was not famous for what he didnt play he was famous for wailing and nearly ripping his whammy bar off his guitar. He was the one who would take songs like jimi hendrix little wing which is 2.5mins long and streching them to 7.5 minutes long and removing all the lyrics. This kid has obviously taken a note from SRV there and made this his own by adding tons more notes. All blues musicians play each others songs and respect each other. just enjoy it

  • @matndale I have no clue what your talking about. What your saying has nothing to do with my comment. He plays ok, he just needs some time to mature. But thats expected at his age. He has already improved alot since he started. Anyways, try and Quiet Yourself and read a comment and understand it before you reply.

  • Comment removed

  • Great!!! DAMN!! amazing guitarplaying, and ok singing..

but I think he is overdoing it just a little bit... blues ain't always about playing as fast as u can... and I think he needs to realize that!... But for his age... He's ABSOLUTLEY AMAZING!

  • Comment removed

  • 2:06-2:11 need to be edited out cuz that was just very awkward haha. but great playin' nonetheless.

  • this kid is amazing in skill, but i still like the players that have a little more soul in there playing not just speeedy runs up and down the penatonic scale. soul is alot less common these days

  • With all due respect, would you be able to play better then Fredrik? He is an amazing guitar prodigy and has been able to play circles around most guitar players of today since the young age of 12. He already has his own C.D. out and is not even 16 yet! If he plays this well now, just imagine how good he will be in his young 20's! Keep up the great work Fredrik, you will most certainly be one of the all time legendary guitar players that blues fans will remember for years to come!

  • this kid should be though voice of todays youth

make them turn there heads into better music or something

    todays music sucks

all this emo and hardcore shit is horrible

bring back rock n roll little german boy

  • German boy? Do your homework before you speak! He is a Norwegian boy!

  • my bad i didnt read the description hehehehehe

  • this kid should get some albert king stuffs, the kid will grow older, the kid needs to be more painful...

  • he's gotten better. There si something that he's missing though, and it's the release in the licks. Sure he can play fast, but he needs to stop and get some of those broken heart cords in there.

MUCH MORE this time around compared to video of him at 12 y/o. Great backup band too.

  • I agree!! I just watched the clip of him at 12 and this is light years better..and that was already good! What will the future hold for him? Gonna keep my ears open!!

  • *chuck my guitar in the bin*......I quit..

  • Is it me or am I the only whose noticed that

    this kids playing an Anderson!!

  • You are right! It's a Tom Anderson!

  • @eerieinhabitants I was too busy feelin' it to notice what brad hid guitar was. this kid definitely knows what the blues is.

  • He may not be able to sing but Jimmi didn't have a singing voice either, but every1 forgets about the voice when the amazing guitar playing comes in. Plus Jimmi had SWAG,he was Jimmi baby can u dig it

  • Nail on head!

  • All you haters are just jealous ... Go ahead and talk shit about his singing but his guitar playing is outstanding ... Only in your dreams would you have the balls to stand on a stage to play any SRV song and I doubt you losers could do it half as good. Sure he's not a purist but neither was Stevie when he interpreted one of his heroes ... Hendrix.

I hope this kid continues he's dam good and also reminds me of Andy Timmons.

  • amen to that. i just found his videos and i think he is great.

  • he is a very good guitar player but he sorta killed the song with his speed he needs to slow it down and let the blues take him away put more feeling if he wants to shred having something like slipknot lol ..... he is still very gd just the wrong choice for his playing

  • His a very good player ofc.. but lack of feeling I think, technique is there as we all can see. But think he should slow it down a notch, it's a mix between metal solo and blues solo :p

I dont feel it, blues is about nailing those notes into peoples hearts, same if it's slow or fast.. but he doesn't do that to me..

  • That sort of understanding of the blues comes with age I think. I would say that as soon as he gets his heart broken he will know what it means to really play the notes as they should be played.

  • in the beginning he looks like he's masturbating

  • thats a guitar wank man my friend

  • yeah.

  • thats mature

  • well, copying SRV is one thing, but does he write his own music also?

  • Certainly has the feel to play the brute that the guitar can be. Is he just a mimic like so many others or does he have the real soul it takes to create these wonderful songs

  • A star in the making

  • he's a good guitarist, but he's such a poser with all those faces. give us a break ffs...

  • its called getting enticed in the music

  • he looks as if he's having a spastic cardiac attack.. as if he's got an electric eel hooked to his balls... too much of a poser imo... but a good musician nonetheless...

  • hahahaha, I agree, he is trying to be an old timer. Aside from that, he has some amazing guitar play

  • I understand that blues is NEVER about singing great...

but come one... dont shred the fuck out of a dope song like texas flood! play what you feel... not what you think... thats the beauty of the blues...

    other than that... its great...

i agree with everyone here... he does try to hard to be SRV...

  • Why have we not seen this kid in major blues festivals yet? the boy can flat play, fuck all the haters.

  • fuckin swedish bastard

  • Swedish bastard, who is?

He is not a bastard, but thanks he is not even swedish, you fool!

  • @caseyjones67

Who are you ?? call people you don.t know Bastard???

He is a young guitarist who gives us Free good musik to like or not.

So please go back to the forest where you comes from. And enjoy what you like of your mama musik..

  • those kids are so lucky to have him as a guitarist.

    lol

  • guys the real star is the keyboardist lol

  • The fact he's a better player than me, doesn't change the fact that for me, he lacks taste & nuance. His note selection is not great and he overplays. Frankly he sounds as though he's not listening, but rather playing his best prefabricated licks and making sure he includes as many of them as possible.

Listening to the playing, not taking into account the fact that he's young, I have to say it's pretty horrible.

check Clapton's "third degee" from the pavorati concert for some real eloquence

  • absoulutely correct

  • While you are correct about your comments, I find it hilarious that you're using Clapton as an example of taste and note selection....

  • I'm not going to stroll into the mine-field of Clapton-critique, but listen to the Pavoroti concert version of "Third Degree". I would be interested in reading what you think.
