The hardest thing about this workout isnt the lactate, its the bloody saddle sore. I do 80+ miles on the road, nothing. 1 set of 20/20's and i can barely sit down still 4 days later.
Love intervals on my trainer. When the resistance is high enough, a time limit of 20 seconds to a minute is pretty intense. Personally, I've been doing intervals for leg strength and jump ropes afterwards for endurance. Keep up the excellent videos.
maybe those of you mocking, should try the workout yourself. I doubt you'll survive all three rounds. But then again, I'm more of a doer, as opposed to sitting on the sidelines, judging others without doing it myself. Keep ridin'
I'm not a cyclist but a runner. I sometimes grunt at myself and make some strange noises whatever it takes to keep on target, I was in a race doing this I could care less what people think, whos around me, if anything it probably has some sort of psychological effect on them hearing this guy grunting behind him charging up the hill yelling COME ON YOU SON OF A BITCH!
@TheMango121 That's one of the funniest things I've ever heard. Tell that to 60+ year old ultramarathoners. Arthritis is mainly hereditary, they've done studies on old habitual runners and old people who don't run, they get knee problems at the same rate. Not only that if you learn to run correctly you can run till your 90, the truth is these highly advanced shoes people buy actually do more harm than good, the answer is always buy better shoe, when it should be make your running form better.
@TheLinkMedic ask a doctor about it. it's common knowledge. Some cyclists are ex-runners like myself. Some people just aren't built for distance running. Finished a half marathon back in college. attempted to do a full marathon last year but my knee gave out during my workouts. Talk to any physical therapist. But yes... you can condition your legs to do it. It takes a lot of time and most of those geriatric runners do it.
@yellowman88 aren't humans designed to run long distances in order to catch dinner way back when we had no clothes? Then again primitive man didn't live very long doing this. In reality too much of anything is bad for you.
@RepsorpKirtap reason were what we are, being able to chase down anything on the planet for food. And why surprisingly enough were rather good at endurance.
looks like he is sweating lots and doing a good work out but he is not burning much fat...... need to train at a lower intensity to do that efficiently ! (well below lactate threshold)

Not many non athletes know this fact. Most weekend warriors just want to "tear it up" intensly and then wonder why the fat is staying the same.
