  • This is great! Thanks for my new appreciation!

  • @Misterdave5555

    thanks ;-)

    V.

  • Try performing in a better location that doesn't look like your kitchen or whatever. your pretty good btw. peace

  • @CiscoNast

Location doesn't matter at all, and I can't record as many video as I did if I have to go to a concert hall or a church. What is important is music... I can also put some diaporama of nice pictures ??

    Thanks anyway !

    Val

  • @Luthval i was trying to be helpful. i think it would be more aesthetically pleasing and more organized if u played the lute in a better location. dont get offended or anything

  • @CiscoNast

I'm not offended, I just like this location, and it is the place I play every day. For me it is like inviting the listeners in my home ;-)

    All the best

    Val

  • What instrument you playing? looks funny, or is it the actual original classical music?

  • @Russelltheloner

This is a baroque lute, and this music was written in the XVIIIth century for this instrument. Weiss was a friens of JS Bach, and the most famous lute player of his time. Yes this is original classical music.

    Best regards

    Val

  • @Luthval Thanks for the information, I play classical guitar so just wanted to search other family classical guitars or string instrument similar to the guitar. Nice play by the way

  • Maravilloso...bravo

  • Thanks ;-)

    Val

  • Lovely playing! I play only Renaissance lute, but find the great differences (among Baroque players) in approach to right hand technique and sound very interesting. I find your approach very satisfying.

    Ned

  • Hello Ned,

Thanks for the comment. In fact I'm mainly a renaissance player, so I'm using my technic on all instruments. Even if it is not historically "correct" (but we know so little about real historical technic... as many luteninsts, as many technics... I guess) what is important for me is to find a sound pleasant for my ear. (and for listener too I hope.

    Best regards ;-)

    Valéry

  • Valery, I absolute agree. It is worthwhile to learn what we can about performing practices of historical periods, but ultimately we must rely upon our ear to guide us.

    Ned

  • beautiful!!!! realy great

  • Thank you very much ;-)

    Best regards

    Val

  • AMAZING!!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • Thanks ;-)

    V.

  • Gracias ;-)

    Val

  • Please play Weiss' Fantasia or his Passacaille that would be awesome. this was wonderful i love this Allemande.Thank you again Val for playing such wonderful pieces. If it was not for you i would have never discovered the lute repertoire.

  • lokk for Kidneykutter's channel, I'm sure he is playing the pieces ;-) (I will some day, but when ?)

    Amitiés

    Val

  • dito

  • Your videos keep me inspired Val! Thanks again!

  • Hi Moderato...

Just take your baroque lute and play (just for pleasure as I'm doing...)

    Whish you lot of enjoyment...

    Val

  • I've been doing just that and enjoying every minuet of it, haha! The hardest part for me right now about Baroque Lute is keeping track of where your fingers are, both the left hand and right hand. It's so easy to lose your place in all those strings. It's something which isn't evident from watching it being played but once you try it out yourself, then you realize how much you need to concentrate just to stay on course (pun intended).

  • Yes concentrate is the word... That why i'm not smiling when playing ;-))))

    V.

  • Your music smiles for you!

  • I wanted to ask you! about the comment you made (concentration) when i play complicated pieces I do not think at all i just play if i think or concentrate i will make mistakes is that weired?

  • Perhaps each one have his own way; many path, one goal : Music !

    ;-)

    All the best

    Val

  • Beautiful song Luthval

  • Yes it is beautiful music, very nice to play...

    Thanks

    Val

  • val, thanks for posting all these weiss videos. I love his music and you play it very nicely.

  • Thanks to you ! I love Weiss music too ;-)

    Val

  • Ahhh... S.L. Weiss! He makes the most beautiful lute pieces! And I love this one. I played many of his pieces when I owned a 11 stringed guitar once. I miss it a lot. Specially when I hear you Val! OMG! I have to play Weiss agian... Running...

    Mesci!!

    Per-Olov

  • Thanks Per-Olov ;-)

I'll post some more Weiss later, but now I have to record some Dowland again with the zoom H2, for the Dowland site of Rob McKillop... ;-)

    V.

    Salutations

    Valéry ;-)

  • Wonderful. Beautifully played.

  • Thanks Tim ;-)

    V.

    thanks for sharing!

  • It is a real treat! Thaaanks a looot!

I am charmed by the piece and by your wonderful perfomance as usual. All the best to you, dear Val.

  • Thanks Aisha ;-)

    Val

  • This was really beautiful music,Val. I don,t know this piece but now I must tune my b.lute and give it a try.

    Trond

  • Yes you should try, not difficult (in regard of other Weiss 's music...) and nice to play ;-)

    V.

  • Again, Val, you hit all the right notes and transport us to another time and place far away. It's interesting to think that Weiss and Dowland composed all their music when there were no horns other than French and English, and no autos, and no heavy construction equipment, no electric lights -- the music reflects a more contemplative environment. The lute brings it back. Thanks.

  • Weiss is really a great composer, friend of Bach, and considered as the greatest lutenist in Germany...

    V.

  • Really nice Val....

    lovely playing as usual!!!

    are you waiting a Theorbo??

    thanks

  • Yes I'll have a theorbo for Xmas 2009 (I'll have to ask long time before as Santa Claus is really busy.. ;-)

    V.

  • This is soooo beautiful!!! sounds amazing too!

  • Thanks Xavier ;-)

    Best regards

    Val

  • Very lovely, as always, Val.

    KEN

  • Hello Ken,

    Thanks,

    Val.

  • Thank you!!! Weiss always does the trick.

  • Thanks ;-)

    Regards

    Val

  • So nice to listen this in the late evening, thanks for playing :)

  • Thanks Wilfried ;-)

    V.

    (back to Dowland now...)

  • that was beautiful

  • Thanks ;-)

Hope you're doing well friend !

    Val

  • Very well played!

  • Thanks a lot !

Do you think you will play some baroque lute one day ?

    Regards,

    Val

  • well maybe, but I guess that if I begin playing another lute-instrument it is first going to be the theorbo.

  • Yes, nice instrument too, I'm waiting for one next year...

If you want to make a living with lute music you have to play continuo on a theorbo. (some solo music but not so much, but nice one !)

    Regards

    val

  • This very poetic piece ... I love Weiss. Wonderful touch. 5 stars.

    Giuditta

  • Thanks you Giuditta ;-)

    Best regards

    Valéry

  • nice job
