  • it's not called a dumbell but whatever, good idea still.

  • why didnt you use the bigger dumbell in the backlground

  • "beauty eh" --Canada for the winn

  • chill out with all the corrections and hate comments people, he's showing us how to increase weight your stick, and use it for practising stickhandling and training wrist strength. He didn't say you need to bring it out to ice.

I'm pretty sure he knows how to use the weight in the way it is intended to be. But he's showing us a creative way besides the usual to help strengthen different areas. So what if he named it dumbell? Plate? Brinjal, Aubergine, Eggplant? It's a 'weight' on the stick.

  • Cool, now do a slapshot

  • the red wings suck

  • @Randysaxeman Weird last time i checked they were in first place

  • Fuck this...

  • Thanks for this tip. If it wasn't for this video, i wouldn't have known about weighted sticks and how they could be beneficial. Trying this out today!

  • You mislead everyone here so they would watch your dumbass. You DIDN'T know it was a plate and not a dumbell or you wouldn't have said it five times. Plus, you obviously don't work out. I was gonna say slap yourself but that's too kind. Please play in traffic, thank you.

  • Ye that's it cause when I play hockey I have dumb elks attached to my stick it's perfectly leagal, oh ye and a bloody good weapon

  • Nice twig buddy. I bet you theres a few goals left in that for sure

  • so much canadian slang lol

  • beauty eh?

  • ;-; YOU'RE NOT PAV. YOU LIED TO ME.

  • 1. thats a plate not a dumbell. 2. if you would actually lift the weights like a normal person, you wouldnt need to look like a retard with that on your stick.

  • you can tell he's from canada

  • @JOK3RxDANGLE what gives it away?

  • @JOK3RxDANGLE its hockey no shit hes canadian..

  • Great way to break a nice stick. Who actually uses wooden sticks anymore? Carbon fiber could never support this.

  • @FinalEx3cution There are a few players that still use wooden sticks. I know Paul Stastny from the Avs does.

  • @pyk420biatch really?? i didnt think they were allowed thats soo awesome!! haha

  • "beauty, eh?" haha ur Canadian eh.

  • @MrGoodbar1318 couldnt tell that by his jersey...

  • @MrSuperJacked yeah i could smartass just he sounds like a typical Canadian

  • Datsyuk got fucked up

  • much easier would be to put the ring of tape over the ring thats there, and then put the weight on top

  • 1:38 'got 10 pound weight on my stick'.

Last night i hade a 120 pound on mine, if you know what i mean hehe

  • Just thoughtd id ask but is it not essential to have puks for stick handling? What a dumbass

  • For a second I thought Datsyuk was wearing a Canada jersey (I wish)

  • you look like datsyuk on the thumbnail o_0

  • Guys I've done this and 100% helps I had a lot better skills and actually made all stars for my STATE due to this guy thank you do much sir for helping me improve my skills

  • sweet misleading title

  • looks like a stick with a good size pair of gonads on it

  • lol this is actually a true tip datsyuk use to do it when he was younger

  • i thought you were pavel datsyuk. thats why i came here. :(

  • @rickypro01 same with me

  • @rickypro01 me too, except I didn't come here for Pavel, I came to see why he was wearing a Canada jersey

  • hey man.. you know you're not Pavel Datsyuk right?

    oh and nice TPS

  • @TheKyleZardo good chirp...

  • @TheKyleZardo why would he use a good stick to throw weights on?

  • Pavel Datsyuk is my inspiration to play hockey better.

  • That's no dumbell that's a plate! :)

  • Datsyuk and Crosby shared good stickhandling tips on this video also /watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ&ob=av2e

  • @GoodGreenery did u got me lol

  • so, guys, what hes saying is that to improve your stick handling, bring two pucks, tape them to ur stick, throw a ten pound wait on there and.... like what the fuck, is that all!!!!!

  • @WhatsTuhday Not sure if stupid or trolling. I pick stupid. Look at the video he has called "Weighted hockey stick drills."

  • its called a barbell idiot

  • @familyguy425596 no it's not...

  • @familyguy425596 go fuck yourself look at the annotation fuck up

  • This is nitpicky but, you should not finish your sentences with an upward inflexion of voice. It sound like you are asking a question when you aren't.

  • Comment removed

  • ask most Russian players, this is a trick they use when they're young. I'm sure Ovechkin and Malkin used the same method. Datsyuk has always said this is the key behind his stickhandling

  • or weighted pucks.. :/

  • 1:13 "Beauty eh" I'm proud to be Canadian :)

  • i stick handle with 225 pounds on my stick ... sometimes i play games with it

  • Да подавитесь вы с Датсюком, зае.ли

  • i was driving next to datsyuk about a month ago after signings at the joe. amazing experience.

  • i play and im 10

  • What else can I use if I don't have a dumb bell lol

  • @musicMan1445 barr bell

  • sick stick man. time for a new one

  • Great tips

  • Great i used his Stickhandling Tip and have great progress...

    Thank you...

  • Youbcould just get an old stick

  • Nice video i love your videos. What i do to save tape is just slide the roll of tape down the stick instead of taping pucks to it. It just conserves tape.

  • lol where are you at bro?

  • Another thing that you can do is taking an old composite stick and filling it with sand! :D

  • you look like pavel datsyuk :)

  • @14fishboy I doubt your grammatical level allows you to criticize...

  • "eh"! wats the matter u cant speak english ya dumb fukin canuck

  • @14fishboy How cute. Another american criticizing Canadian grammar. I remember when I found that funny.

  • "Beauty eh?" canadian <3

  • @MrXact2 same difference square

  • Too bad he didn't show how to actually stick handle using this heavy machinery. 10lb is way too heavy to me. It feels more like weight lifting rather than stick handling. I would have to use both hands and then just push this thing back and forth in a very awkward way which doesn't look like stick handling at all.

  • @MegaFeofan You'll just have to start with smaller weights and work your way up. 10Ib is pretty heavy when you're used to dealing with the normal weight of a hockey stick. This method definitely pays off, though.

  • @Sprinklepanda Yeah, but one thing I am not sure about is when stick handling for "soft hands" you basically using just the upper hand and the lower hand is just for support. But when you go that heavy, you pretty much have to use both hands as if you were weight lifting, which sounds counter productive. Or you are saying one can get that strong to be able to stick handle with pretty much one hand with that much weight?

  • 1:10 "Beauty Ay"

  • @TheWolferParty its spelled "Eh", eh

  • @TheWolferParty Yes he is probably Canadian =D

  • this trick helps you to improve power of shot?

  • Here's my tip...Maybe try a shorter stick for dangling. This dude's is a few inches above his head.

  • Hmmm, that's a really interesting idea... but I think you will want to use a smaller plate or different kind of weight.. because that 10lb disc is sure as hell going to obstruct your view of the puck near the blade. I'm guessing you already know this though LOL.

  • @skipstah70 If you are looking down at the puck you are stickhandling wrong. You need to feel the puck instead of looking at it....

Not sure if someone already mentioned this, so I am sorry if they did. But I hope it helps!

  • Damn son. That stick is shot. Look at how bent it is.

  • @PatronSaint210

I doubt you'd want to use a new stick for something like this.

  • @BalsamicPork Thank you Cpt. Obvious...

  • @BalsamicPork I never said I'd want to use a new stick for something like this. I was just pointing out that it is bent to shit lol.

  • thats NOT datsyuk

  • @MichaeIJacksonLives its not suppost to be...

  • @bauerhockey10 then why is he trying to look like him and out his godamn name up on the godamn title!

  • @MichaeIJacksonLives thats how he looks and its a trick that pavel datsyuk used.. or so he thinks

  • hey thats not a dumbell is a plate...........u mad bro?

  • THAT'S A WEIGHT PLATE FOOL

  • @reyjed619 read the comment by the guy who made the video ur 101 person to say this CONGRATS

  • /watch?v=Kj3E0ve6rl0&feature=related

datsyuk says that as a boy he used this method.

  • @NeonSwagg Sometimes I think the only intelligent life left on youtube are the fan's of How to Hockey, thanks for straightening out the trolls :D

  • @howtohockeydotcom you look like pavel datsyuk :)

  • @howtohockeydotcom I think your right, great video!

  • ahhhh why isnt ur wesbite up!

  • I was 1(13#)3(13#) wiewer : D

  • One suggestion might be to work your way up with the amount of weight.

  • I've played hockey for 10 years and I am going in to college as a freshman and playing for the women's hockey team. Your videos have helped me so much and the weighted hockey stick has made such an improvement! Keep up the videos and thank you so much!!

  • Thats not a numbell

  • @zZBananaManZz please explain. How can you be a dumbass for stopping a video because it sucks

  • you could just get weighted pucks lol

  • u do know pavel didnt use this. and no matter how much you stickhandle, you will never ever be anywhere to close to the talent of pavel datsyuk. end of discusion.

  • @bauerhockey10 Your a Dumbass

  • @zZBananaManZz sure i am

  • Did i win?!?!? I stopped watchn the vid because of how brutal it was. You really cant call me dumb ass for that, dumb ass

  • @n2extreem yeah he can dumbass

  • @n2extreem Hey congratulations you are the 100th person to write this. I also added this as a note at 0:32 in the video, yet after ALL those comments AND the note you still commented. Now who's the dumb ass?

  • @n2extreem Fuck you!

  • I laughed when u said dumbbell, it's just called a plate :) and great video dude, I do the same with a 10 pounder as well.

  • not a dumbell

  • im gonna go make one

  • OR YOU CAN BUY A HEAVIER STICK

  • I started this 2 weeks ago as a rising junior at high school and have already noticed a significant improvement in my game. Thank you soo much for the tips, youre the shit!!

  • @centermanhockey Thanks bud, glad I could help you out, this is a good trick to add to your training, your testimonial might shut up some of the guys who comment here and say it doesn't work. The thing is you actually have to do it for it to work!

  • For everyone that wants to see high level hockey tricks come to TomasJurco13's channel. I am playing Minor Midget AAA in the best 15 year old league int he world next year for 1 st year midgets. These are not beginner videos.

  • this guys a beauty

  • Im not trying to be rude or anything but to practice with weight on your stick while shooting or even using donuts on a bat is scientifically proven to slow down you mussels although it may seem to work. But thank you for posting you videos I am trying out for the girls varsity team at my high school anyway thanks a lot.

  • @Guitarpucky11Girl thats true and makes sense, but than after that you can take off the weights and practice/train trying to do quick stickhandling, as i not just training speed or strength by themselves but work on both, if you understand me?

  • @Guitarpucky11Girl I did read that study, but it shows practicing with weights RIGHT before performing the action. The point of this is to build your muscles and overtrain them. I also recommend doing other training to work on quick movements and repetition. Hope you make the team!

  • That's a barbel.

  • you look like Ovechkin!

  • do i hear a bird in the background lol?

  • @Bruinsrapecanadians hahaha I noticed that too

  • canadians do say eh!

  • This also helps with playing in the dark, because now you can't see the blade of the stick either.

  • Funny lookin dumbell dumb dumb!

  • or you could just get a heavier puck

  • "beauty eh?"

  • hey will taping 4 pucks to your hockey stick imporove the strength of ur shot

  • its not a dumbell, dumbell

  • i am so going to try this :p

  • u have 10 pounds but plus hockey puck 22

  • take clappers with that 10 pounder on there

  • I think crosby

  • datsyuk curve or crosby

  • This is such a good exercise even if you dont play hockey just lift a shovel

  • beauty eh!!!! canadians are pro

  • 6 People Shoved Thier finger through That Hole :}

  • you're ofiicialy the red green of hockey

  • not a dumbell.

  • Here's a good tip that I use. I just take the barbell and use that for a puck. It doesn't improve hockey skills at all, but it makes me look awesome.

  • were is pavel, i guess he couldnt make it.

  • @terdburgler99 Its not Pavel, but Pavel was doing this when he was young.

  • @terdburgler99 This is something Datsyuk said he used to do when he was a kid, thus it is a tip from Datsyuk, I am showing you one way to weight the stick.

  • get ankle weights and ducks tape them to the stick

  • fill your stick with concrete

  • look at all that tape... how am I ever gonna get it off lol

  • dumbbell LoL it's a plate. is this just for wrist strength?
