piccolo trumpet pwns. i dnt own one but i own a Bflat and its still fun. this song is fun to play too. im thinking bout doing it for senior year for band in highschool. i could play it this year my sophmore year but i hate playing infront of people
@jdistel13 wow thats really good if you can play this all the way through yourr sophmore year. I'm a freshmen and my chops are dying about 3/4 into it
2 years later, looking at this video, after having 2 more years of trumpet under my belt, I am astounded at this video. I thought it was great back then, but now it's AMAZING, because I can notice all these other things they are doing that makes it so insane.
Where can I get this arrangement?!?! Please someone let me know!! PLEASE! I would really love to play this arrangement on my recital in the spring! I have the instrumentation, I just need the arrangement. Thank you for letting me know anyone!
You're an idiot. There's a trombone on the right and a piano at the back. What do you mean by they are all trumpets? The trombone sound is so obvious.
that is not actually a trombone, they wouldnt be called the trumpet guild if they had a trombone would they? It's actually a Bass Trumpet, it has the tubing of a Trombone, but is held like a trumpet, so it is a trumpet. I believe the order of instruments for trumpet in this video, right to left is: Bass Trumpet, B flat Trumpet, B flat Tumpet, B flat Trumpet, Picolo Trumpet (which is probably why it sounds like a clarinet at some points).
Sublime is where you find it, isn't it? Who would've guessed...a herky-jerky video...a little dance routine...a few itinerant Japanese buglers...and triple tonguing through the ceiling! On a frosty Beijing evening, this warms one up more than a mug of Brazil's finest. Just great!
I'm pretty new to You tube, and I meant to respond to a question by a previous poster. I had no intention of posting an "ebay ad" here. My apologies to everyone.
this is astonishingly good! by the way, i am planning to purchase a new trumpet, maybe a bach stradvarius, and i want to know a few good places to buy used instruments. Anyone?
I've got an Opera. Bot it about '67 I'd guess. It hasn't been used 30 years. I never got good enough to take full advantage of what it had to offer. I've also got a Bach D, and I didn't even get close to being able to master that. It takes serious horsepower. Which means it's virtually new.
Some friends of mine and I played that piece last year at solo and ensemble. Not that fast though. I hope soon I'll be able to play it that clean. Good job!
videos? unless u have videos to prove that "freshman" are better than paid, world class trumpeters. please dont make statements like that. it just shows your ignorant because your friends with someone who has a wee bit of talent that is exaggerated upon. oh and this piece isnt that hard so if ur basing their "skill"on this song your are dumb. thank you. bbl to own u again.
I would be a lot better if the pic dude wasn't fracking the top note of every arpeggio. He kind of kills it... and gets them out of sync in the bridge.
I never heard this piece arranged for this type of ensemble. It works so well!! Love how the added the piccolo trumpet and low brass. Perfect to let the piccolo tag the high note at the end instead of the Bb player LOL.
does sound picollo or atleast on a C trumpet, but still flawless playing, i played this and the double tonguing is tricky when your n00b like myself =D
That is actually a Piccolo Trumpet keyed in either Bb or A. Notice that the tone is "thinner" than the other trumpets and the size of the horn is drastically smaller. Also, he is typically an octave higher than the other players.
Yeah, they are going way slow for the song. I have heard this performed by a pro band. It seems almost impossible to triple tongue like that. Yay for trumpets!

Its a bass trumpet. This is a legit show, they wouldn't use marching instruments. Plus that is just what it is.
