Without the Jail system Vanarch's have no power to protect the land or influence anything.

Every Vanarch will be someone who broke in with force and raises the taxes to max while he still can.

How is this better than an active and just Vanarch who has the power to imprison greifers.

If you set appropriate limits it can't be abused.

I'd make a great ruler, i would destroy the entire point of the game and make a lot of money on it, i'd ruin businesses, quests, raids and make sure the entire realm is plunged into chaos. And if anyone challenge my rule, i'd kill them or exile them. I'd also make executions a daily thing, killing vendors and newbies. Who wants a good leader when you can have a terrifying dictator?

@XxXxPemaxXxX To the extent of my knowledge, it is a vast open-world. I played it at Comic Con a couple years back and the map seemed to stretch for ages. Of course im sure there will be instanced dungeons, and perhaps there will be some regions/continents which load separately, but I believe its been stated already that its an open world, not a bunch of maps strung together.

The only real problem I see with this system is like others have said, corruption. It's not your fault though, since corruption exists in all politics. Will there be a max amount of terms a player can serve? How often do Vanarchs get elected/overthrown? What direct effect can a bad Vanarch construct?

How is the Vanarch system any good? In Korea the tax to enter the competition is huge and the gain of becoming one is miserable. The first and second vanarchs on the Korean servers were at SEVER money loss after their election had finished. Only the Vanarchs of 2 provinces earned something from the whole system.

if anyone here played RF Online you will know just how easy it is to completely control this.

all it takes is 2-3 powerful guilds coming together to control everything. They then will control world bosses, auction house, money, and the beats gears. They become god-like and unstoppable, eventually killing the server and the game.

Only two Vanarchs can become Vanarchs by combat, and they must run for the position in one of the two provinces that support it. The Exarch is ALWAYS voted in, from amongst the 18 Vanarchs. But, the Exarch could be a combat Vanarch, and then be voted to become Exarch by the other players.
