  • dr manhattan and the atomic boner.

  • Zack Snyder is my hero and his statement on why he does slow motion is perfect i dont mind micheal bay but i like to see the action as well.

  • lol

    "thats gonna drop some jaw's"

    "Thats how he rolls"

    lmfao

  • gonna buy the blu ray version ;) damn i wanna see it!

  • But the nite owl didn't have a cape...

  • He did

  • Are we talking about the first one or the second?

  • amazing film! absolutly perfect adaption. i'm going to buy the dvd.

  • Get the bluray if you can. Just think of the HD goodness :D

Also the bluray will have all the special stuff on the one disc but I'm gonna wait for the second release as it will have more stuff but will come in fall 09.

  • This guy is the most inane, naive director i've seen! no wonder the film was crap

  • you sir, are in fact, retarded

  • yes yes he is

  • You have no taste for anything good!

  • "Thank God you've got great visuals, sir" I think Kevin Smith summed it up at Comic-con '08

  • @thethickrepeater Don't judge

  • the casting was amazing.

  • Oh dude!! Spoiler!!

WTF!!? I've been holding off reading the GN, because I want to be surprised when I see the flick. (well I got to chpt 3, then set it down) But because I wanted to see the flick first... Baaaahhhhhh!!!

  • what is that song that they play in the previews!!!???

  • it's called the beginning is the end is the beginning, by smashing pumpkins

  • i was wrong, its called the end is the beginning is the end

  • no, you were correct: it's The Beginning is the End is the Beginning. The End is the Beginning is the End song is a more pop-ish version.

  • Redundancy is redundant

  • and epic shoop is epic

  • yeah its faster

  • @TheSalawag LOL

  • What is that globe thing at the end of this interview spinning?

  • It's Dr Manhatten forming a glass fortress from the sand.

  • cool looks like a really cool movie :)

  • Zack Snyder looks exhausted. Seriously, he's probably think "Why the questions?... Just wait for the movie. I just finished making a 3 hour movie and it's definnately weighin on me. Im gonna sleep right here and nobody will notice me."

  • i dig that tshirt!!!!!!!!! i want it

  • I thought of Manhattan's voice as more as like John Jones from JLA the cartoon, other than that, they seem fine, though Dan Dreiberg seems a bit different, though not in a bad way. Ozy's costume is horrendous, but then if they did it in the bright colors from the graphic novel, it would be much worse. Though that's how it's supposed to be, Ozy is a public icon, like Batman was in Batman in Robin, no matter how bad that movie is, he was treated like a celeb in it and thats the point.

  • who gives a shit about batman

watchmen took superhero stereotypes and flip them completely

one of the most in depth and multi layered graphic novels i've ever read

  • i agree

  • If he did go with big names. Keanu Reeves would actually be a good Manhatten.

  • Billy Crudup is a big name, and he's perfect for the role, and has the monotone thing but you also can feel a character through it more than with Keanu.

  • billy crudub is probably the most well known. But he's not exactly a huge name.

  • No dude... Malin Akerman is the most well known -- everybody loves her body.

  • hahahaha 4.05 is funny

  • the book isn't "that" good.

  • u obviously read the wrong book, or forgot your spectacles

  • XD! Yea the book is awsome, i did have to get used to the nine panels but it was good.

  • That, or I simply didn't think it was the greatest comic ever like so many other people think.

  • Mate....you are under confusion...it's not the BEST...comic..it is just the mos recognised comic really....and its AWESOME!

  • well, i hate graphic novels, but there are so many damn good quotes in the book that you can't say it's bad... think about how well thought out everything is, bro. i loved it

  • reading it Now.

doesn't have the same effect, as reading it back in the 80's.

    cause i JUST read it.

    and felt the same way.

but if you think about the time it was written.

    then it's one amazing piece.

  • the change to ozy's costume is unwarranted and goes against his character in my opinion, of course it was "snyder's taste"

  • I see nothing wrong with the costume. Some aspects of the book have to be updated to make them relevant in the modern day. Ozy's costume was the most gaudy thing possible, a take on overly flashy superhero costumes. Well tastes have changed. Now a rubber muscle suit with fake nipples is much more recognizable as being over the while, while golden spandex with a purple tunic looks flat out gay, which is not the point. The costume looks horrendous, but its supposed to be. That's the point.

  • Yeah, i see that but i kinda thought one of the points of Ozzy's character is that hes this big, flashy guy who is into Egyptian stuff, i really don't see the Egyptian influence in the costume. It should at least have gold in it..

  • Well his belt buckle is very Egyptian. His costume contains various flairs that add to the feel. His original costume didn't add much either though.

  • Hope he learns the proper way to pronounce "Rorschach" before the opening.

Big clue: rhymes with "Raw Shark"

    ~~

  • you're wrong, they don't call it the "Raw Shark" inkblot test. Its pronounced just like its spelled. The cop in the Graphic Novel just misheard Viedt when he called. Most likely Ozymandias diguised his voice so not to arouse suspicion. Don't believe me? Look up "Rorschach inkblot test" in the dictionary.

  • 'scuze me. It's not pronounced "Roar-shack" as Snyder does.

  • ....

    It's pronounced "Roar-shack".

  • Yes it is.

    Rorschach Ror·schach (rôr'shäk', -shäKH'), Hermann. 1884-1922.

  • Yes!! Confirmation of the love scene between Jon and Lori!!! That shit was sooooo funny!!!

  • He didnt ask the questions that needed to be asked. sorry people

  • Ok here's a question that just popped up in my head. Will the Black Freighter get a trailer of it's own?! I know they said they're gonna include it on the dvd, special edition style. But I was just thinkin, it'd be cool to see a trailer for it just pop up online.

  • they are gonna release black freighter on video like the week before the movie. then when watchmen comes on dvd they are going to intertwine the two like in the book.

  • blunty,

    great interview and video

I give it a thumps up and 10 stars to boot!

  • LMAO

that was priceless how Zack felt kinda embarrassed about the slo-mo himself...xD

  • BLUE PENIS IS TWO WORDS BLUNTY!

  • Talk louder, Blunty! I had trouble hearing some of your questions.

  • Here's an idea, watch the movie and take it all in first and then comment. At this point it seems like you are whining because he didn't pick a color scheme you wanted. Watchmen is one of my favorite books ever and I'm excited to see it...

  • yes he uses CG. But, importantly he uses actually people for the stunts. 300 owned because it was real people taking the beat down. Matrix one fight scenes felt intense because of real people. THe sequels has cartoons for fight scenes.

  • are you serious, zach uses tons of cg

  • Thanks for raping one of the greatest pieces of art ever Zack.

  • Come on give him a chance.

  • No I won't give him a chance. I've seen what he's done to it. You'll probably like the movie because it's a "cool" movie but it's not going to be the work of art that Watchmen is. This is about more than looking badass, this movie should be absolutely incredible and the themes are being discarded for tried and true superhero methods.

  • seen the movie rawisericho? didn't think so.

  • No but I've seen the trailers and using something called intellect and context I can surmise that Snyder is raping this movie. Btw, criticizing me for hating this movie before I see it is as bad as you loving it without seeing it.

  • there you go again, assuming away. did i say i liked the movie? no. did i criticize your opinion at all? no. you were jumping to conclusions, so i called you out on that and that alone. chill out.

  • @rawisericho jerk

  • KREEPYKRAWLLY, are you some kind of obsessive compulsive, who wants to sit there with a copy of the graphic novel and cry if a scene in the film doesn't sync with the book? It's a fucking movie, get over it and QQ someplace else.

  • Actually, it's one of the main events in the novel. This is a novel which deserves to be put to almost every detail in the movie.

  • why did you delete the other vid you made? was too early in the morning?

i liked it anyway you should have left it up.

  • Yeah the film is rated R you can't do watchmen without an R rating.

  • He isn't going to put the squid ending...the fucking bastard

  • Is this film rated R?

  • i havn't seen the graphic novel myself, but i have to say that the film looks brilliant, and the song on the trailer fits aswell. i'm just curious to know what makes this film excel against other super hero films like batman for example.

  • That's definitely the idea. Regardless of how you feel about the film after you see it, you should read the book. It's a good read for people who want to read good books with huge depth.

  • well cheers then you 2, i can't wait for this film to come out

  • its set in the real world. events like vietnam and the hippie movement the keane act passed by congress and pres nixon are all intertwinned into the movie

  • Hehe "Blue Penis"

  • ozimandius's costums reminds me alot of the batman costumes in the Batman and Robin movie.

jude law was at one point going to play him.

    sadly that was changed.

for me its his charture that I hope is gotten right

condisering what he is suposed to do in the story and his motivation.

  • Jude Law wanted to play him but was never officially considered. Tom Cruise was the only actor officially considered, (as in announced as 'being considered for the role') by Zack Snyder.

Truth is, I think the casting of this movie looks brilliant with the exception of Ozymandias. The character is supposed to be in an American guy his mid 40s and they hired a British guy in his late 20s. I dunno.... Ozymandias really is a key character, if not THE key character, let's wait and see what happens.

  • well im glad Tom cruise did not get the part.

for me Ozy is important because what he does.

    and what happens.

    so that is important.

but i guess it was just 'rumored' Law would play him.

and i would have really liked to see him in the role.

    but we shall see.

  • Not to mentioned the hatchet job they did to his costume.

  • To the people who want to read it but can't find a hard copy, there are *cough* digital* *cough* copies to be found around the internet, usually in zip form at ~200 megs.

That said, Blunty, you look so much like the Comedian in the movie it's hilarious. I'd love to see you dress the part.

  • arrakis,

do you think you could elaborate?(where to find it or what to search)

  • Serious question for blunty***

Having seen the sneak peak segments. Should fans who have read the graphic novel, be satisfied with zach synder's adaptation of the novel?

  • I believe so, yes. As Zack himself said to me, any "real" fan who understands the material should be quite satisfied by how it was adapted for film. only the most uptight anal retentive fanboys (who will likely actively search for reasons to dislike the film) will get their panties in a knot about the tiny stuff. What I saw (and my peers whos aw it with me) were all quite pleased with what we saw. :) I look forward to the full experience early next year.

  • Yah i figured that to happen of all the fan boys to be uptight every little detail. But if zach himself has been keen to detail then i'll surely take his word. As will I take your word about being pleased about the sneak peak you got! It should be epic with it clocking in at 2 hours and 43 minutes and with the dvd release running in at 3 hours and 25 min.

    Thanks for the response!

  • hey blunty, huge fan of your videos and ponder pop (although i do prefer your old style of video) anyway, i have never heard of watchmen befour this, and im interested in it from what i saw in the trailer, so where do you thnk i could find a copy of the book in sydneu and also is watchmen rated M or MA or what??... oh and also whats up with the blue penis??

  • semaj116, thanks to the excitement about the movie, most comic-book stores now have a significant supply of the graphic novel, and there are a good selection of good comic book stores in Sydney too :) (I suggest Kings Comics‎, on pitt st in the city)

  • Yeah. And it's also in super-surplus at Borders, if you happen to be in closer proximity to a Borders than a comic book shop. And, as WNxArrakis said, there are pirate copies. But there's always those wonderful gems.

  • did you see any of the end? is the squid monster going to be in it, or he is taking it out like i keep hearing?

  • nevermind, i watched part 3. good interview blunty!

  • who is it at 5:39

  • w00t new trailer will have alot of rorshach! YAY!

  • lol zack is a funny guy :)

  • lol silent bob from mall rats XDDDD

    loved that movie

  • I have never read the Graphic Novel before yesterday.

If theres one thing that makes it stand out, its the ending.

A shame that it won't be used for the film

  • wait there not using the vagina monster?

  • No... at least that's what Zack is saying. The new ending sounds promising though. They could do much worse.

  • Blunty, when was this recorded, because I want to know if the knew trailer he's talking about is the scream one that came out a couple of weeks ago or a completely new one. Thanks

  • this was recorded a few days sgo.

  • Awesome! Can't wait for part 3.

  • Alright, I called you a fanboy about posting the Watchmen videos, but I have to admit - you've really delivered with this. So many of us are anticipating all the details of the movie. I think it seems like Snyder worked hard to make the movie true to the comic. If he did as well at that as he did with 300, it should be spectacular. I know nobody can ever really condense Watchmen into a film that does the book justice, but I think we at least have a director who tried.

  • Surprised that Zack Snyder and Michael Bay went to school together. This interview is so professional.

I love the fact it doesn't have the biggest stars at the moment in the film. I love to see films with new talent that I never heard of before.

Great stuff again Blunty, cant wait for part 3.

  • Blunty you asked brillant questions to Zack. I love Zacks especially when trying to make the heroes believable to the audience.

I like that this interview explores into everything in the film so far.

I want to watch some of Snyder's films now HOORAY.

  • Michael Bay & Zack Snyder went to school together? Now THATS cool!

  • These make me want to see it more and more

  • This looks great

  • I'm so glad, ppl are going out and picking up the book out of anticipation for the film. To me comic/super hero films should do exactly that. Get people interested in reading the source material. I hope with the success of Watchmen, the next Moore classic that should get a PROPER flick is Swamp Thing.

  • hey blunty, where did the interview take place in NA or Australia?

  • Sydney dude, check out part 1.

  • If there's anybody who should've directed Super Mario Bros, it's Zach Snyder lol. He's just awesome.

PS - I just finished the comic. You were right Blunty, reading the last 2 chapters was a hell of a ride!

  • I just don't think Super Mario Brothers is really that adaptable to film. Mega Man and Zelda, definitely! But I would like to see Snyder do some more original work other than comic films or horror remakes, b/c I love his work so far.

  • I know, I was just joking. But Zach does know how to stay fateful :P

  • oh it looks so good... it sounds so good. I have such high hopes for this movie.

Great questions... great interview. Thank you so much for this.

  • right now this is the perfect time to make this movie. had this movie been made 10 years ago arnold shwarzenegger would have been manhatten tom cruise would have been ozy and it would have been set in present time it would have been a mess thanks god for zach snyder

  • Yay! We get to see the blue penis!!!

  • S:)

  • cool stuff!!!

  • i'm reading the graphic novel and it is sooo good.

  • you really got mer hyped about this movie

  • This is awesome, man :D

  • I must now write to my friends and ask them to form a band called Blue Penis. Hey, they were already in a band called Pornland. It could happen.

  • NICE

  • Brrrrilliant Blunty!

  • hi!!!!!!!what is your favorite superhero movie......and what do you prefer:super heroes(superman) or heroes(batman)

  • I agree, Rorshach, Manhattan and also The Comedian are examples of PERFECT casting.

I'm still sorta waiting about them capturing the themes of the graphic novel in the script, as well as that recurring image of the clock and the blood drop.

  • Can't wait for this movie! It's nice to hear what the director has to say towards the movie.

  • Go blunty you rule bro

  • nice
