I have been interested in this case since it first broke, and I have read nearly any information about the case and Robert Pickton that I could get my hands on. I recently read "Butcher" and I actually read a book called "Bad Date" by Trevor Greene which was written just prior to this Pickton being arrested. Greene's book was a good read and it provided some good information and theories, but his timing was off among other things. He was good guy to have researched this to begin with.

- Why didn't Dinah Taylor ever take the stand?

- The police fired the suspected murder weapon and handled it without gloves before it was submitted to a fingerprint examination?

- A band saw at Pat Cassanova's house tested positive for human DNA and the forensic expert testified that there was a lot of the cartilaginous material on the saw.

In the Crowns opening statement they stated that they would prove that Pickton acted alone in killing these women and disposing of their bodies. The Crown presented no evidence at all to support the theory that Pickton was merely a bit player in a wider conspiracy, and yet this is exactly what we must believe in order for the 6 counts of 2nd degree murder to make sense.

As I have said before, I do believe in capital punishment, but only on the conviction of severe cases of death and dismemberment as what was layed upon the world with the results of this excuse of a human -- Robert Pickton. This verdict seems like a protected guise to ensure that Pickton is jailed at least till the completion of the next trial, upon which, with no doubt will find Pickton just as guilty. I can only hope that the next verdict will ensue his permanence behind bars.

In understanding the variances between the type of charges he was convicted of, I still can not understand how he was convicted of only 2nd degree. This pig farmer preyed and targeted his victims from the most vulnerable area of society. His "level of intelligence" as it was examined by the evidence displayed in court does not excuse him from this sort of action. He has been capable to host parties in his "Piggys Palace" with some of the upper echelon of society from Vancouver.
