Please read the description to those who think it's chocolate...it's liver! Organ meats are good for dogs. I do agree that chocolate must never be given to dogs, though.

I hope that isnt chocolate-as a pet owner you should know its highly toxic to dogs and should never be given as treats :(. Giving it to your pet would be very cruel even though i know you might think its a nice treat. Chocolate practically destroys canine internal systems causing not only sickness but quite often kidney failure also. So please let it not be chocolate!

Yes, DD does pant. I have 3 vets in the family and they tell me it is related to the soft palate that he has. That explains his snoring too. It is a genetic condition and he will have it for the rest of his life. Probably the same thing you get in a breed like the bull dog.

There is no real explanation why it has a blue-black tongue. It is a very old breed of dog so just be happy that you have a chow chow. I've read a lot about chow chows and still have not found an explanation.

Chows are all over , I had one for years he was my favorite. ChowChows are chinese but became popular when they became show dogs in England when many members of royalty had them. The look has changed and changed back over the years. But nothing beats a fluffy red chowchow. They bond sooo close to thier owners they often hate strangers but if you own one you will never find a closer friend. Love the ChowChow
