I couldn't actually care about the date, but with all of the evidence and models that crash on dates in the near future, many big things have to happen. Technology model, population model, novelty model all reach a singularity, solar fucking up satellites, war, disease, hunger and environmental destruction. It is the big cities that will die and the independent villages that will stand a chance.

rosmwer00 is basically correct about the solar cycle. The Sun's magnetic field actually reverses every ~22 years at every other solar cycle. The current sunspot minimum has extended beyond what was originally predicted, but it still isn't outside the error margins. we have just started to see sunspots reappear. Even tho that's "late", the cycle is continuing. Neither heliosphere nor magnetic field of the Sun disappeared. The solar wind dropped to almost unmeasurable... This has happened before.
