John O'Brien (who wrote about the role played by Cage - a man who decides to commit suicide drinking until death) really committed suicide when the movie started.

One I decided to find my death while drinking, but I had to give up my plan on the second glass (I am weak for alcohol. Two glasses of anything and the only thing I can get in a terrible hangover)

"Sober." Appropriate choice of song for this movie. Honestly, I can't bring myself to see the whole movie because it's just so sad to watch Nicolas Cage's character drink himself to death and I wasn't really drawn by the damaged romance between him and Elizabeth Shue's character.
