I doubt that all the bands from your high school are as good as the Arctic Monkeys. Sure, they might not have the most complex songs, but all of these songs were written early in their careers. The Beatles early songs were just as amateurish, maybe even more so than these songs. That does not mean that they are bad songs. The Beatles' early music is amazing, as is the Arctic Monkey's music. Music does not need depth to make it a good song. The Arctic Monkeys sound good. All that matters.

@hocobo I'm sorry but I disagree. I don't think arctic monkeys are the best band ever, far far from it. Not even near being the best band of their generation imo, but they're still good.

Their music is quite one dimensional, but it is still a very good listen and brilliant to see live. It just has a very catchy sound and is good on your ears, and that isn't something that is too easy to do, so I definitely think Alex Turner has talent.

@hocobo I know you enjoy being controversial but you might as well drop this one. Alex Turner had been playing guitar for something like 9 months when he wrote their first album. The lyrics are probably too intertwined with English culture for you to appreciate fully, but these songs affect most of Britain and many other countries, addressing problems just the way The Clash did. Arctic Monkeys are a generation defining band (and I don't normally subscribe to bullshit terminology like that).
