@Shade793 This is just a guess, but maybe because he can control it better. He can get the right sound out of playing that way. I am not sure, but there are many techniques to playing just one instrument. Like playing the violin. You have the bow, but you can use your fingers to pluck on the strings.

Wow, this is the best version I've heard of this song. Hisashi's songs are one of the few that seem to get better when a Jazz beat is added. And that's saying something, since he already writes some of the best traditional classical music ever.

@halovir hey there. there's his princess mononoke symphonic suite, bolero, new world 2006. But those are my opinions though. You should check his videos posted here by Nomyo and the rest. Just type Joe Hisaishi's name in and you'll find many. Good luck finding such other lovely pieces! :)

@halovir Ah... I have quite a few but my all-time favourite is definitely oriental wind. He's an awesome composer and actually, quite a numerous number of concert DVDs of his are sold online. I found some on ebay.com. You would be able to see the concert itself with better quality for the videos than of youtube I guess. Oh, more of his videos can be found... you could type in the movies or animes he composed for.

hee -sa-ee-shi (ひ さ い し） (the "a" and "i" are pronounced separately) and there is no stressed syllable... it's hard for native English speakers because all English words have one stressed syllable...

@k3nnyinab0x yeaaaah, I listen to Nujabes. I love his work for Samurai Champloo (such a great series) and also his collabs with people like Uyama Hiroto (very jazzy), Kenichiro Nishihara, Shing... And I was very sad when I heard of his death some months ago. But thank heavens I discovered his music. Thanks to him I have been able to discover the world of jazzy hip-hop from Japan or other places.
