PS RE his Tony Blair epic debate, as he was my local MP, & I asked him at 8! if he ever wanted to be Prime Minister. Icon!
I'm pretty sure I have seen every debate and speech by Hitch on youtube, but this one and the most recent one with Sam Harris has to be Hitch at his best. He seems a little more elaborate on this one. Thanks for uploading.
How can the ideas of Hitchens spread farther? I wonder how any religious person can watch these countless speeches, discussion, epic hitchens compilations and still have faith. The world could be a better place.
@NerollGermany I've watched a myriad of his speeches debating others. Maybe the same convictions that make one pro-Hitchens make me disbelieve his rhetoric...
@NerollGermany Hitchens, Dawkins, Dennett, Harris- or the "horsemen" if you will- their arguments are just a mirage that from far away looks like "science", "logic", and "reason" but upon closer inspection indicates "I don't really understand the subject I'm arguing against sufficiently enough to legitimize my arguments". Anyway...just my personal opinion.
@82dr89bg Okay, that's an interesting standing in this discussion. I still don't quite understand what your point ist though. Do you think that Hitchens, who was the "advocatus diaboli" once, does not know what he is talking about? What exactly are the weaknesses of the arguments, that the four horsemen make?
Are you talking about the personal character of religion, something sacred, that shouldn't be critized and that is, far from the literal teachings (bible etc.) something very personal?
@NerollGermany Mainly, his interpretation of "God" and "God's" attributes...and then how Hitchens associates those things based on what he has witnessed, heard, or read about humanity doing things "in the name of God" through the religions that spawned throughout history thus drawing the conclusion that "God" must be, well, all the bad things Hitchens describes "God" to be. I'm ranting.
@82dr89bg With all due respect, you do talk out of your Arsch, don't you? The problem it rather that the atheists understand "the subject" too well. Maybe you'd rather believe in the Easter Bunny, but that doesn't mean other people don't understand it: Lack of Eier!
@82dr89bg Don't want to get nasty now, but you should go into politics or become a diplomat or something like that. They still have use for people who can speak entire sentences without saying anything at all. What convictions? What rhetorics? What the fuck?
@lunadogwoof I don't point it out much but sometimes when I notice a blatant & arrogant misunderstanding of someone- i will point it out. You sir not only misunderstood me, but then went ahead to make ridiculous statements based off of a poor interpretation. If misrepresenting ideas or information is key to being a politician- well then sir, YOU'VE definately got my vote ;)
@82dr89bg Sir. You are still trying to sound like an intellectual, and you are not pointing out anything, only that I misunderstood, and that my misunderstanding is blatant and arrogant, a poor interpreter and that I make ridiculous statements.
My point is: You don't actually say anything! You make a statement and do not explain what your statement is based on. There is NO information there. What is your reference? The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations? Bye Sir. Thank you for bothering to answer.
@lunadogwoof " you are not pointing out anything, only that I misunderstood, and that my misunderstanding is blatant and arrogant, a poor interpreter and that I make ridiculous statements"
Yup...Im pointing out absolutely nothing there. You are so right. Gosh I'm glad we've cleared that up.
I was already an atheist prior to discovering Hitch (and the other 4 horsemen). But I wasn't nearly comfortable enough in my atheist skin. Their words (particularly Hitch) has set me free from any anxiety over my beliefs in this area. My sincerest thanks are therefore in order.
I have seen this lecture about 10 times now at YouTube, but every time I listen to it, I hear something new in it. That is what inspiration is, or in any case, should be.
This man, the host of this lecture is wonderful to watch. It's obvious that he is a believer of the Yahweh and Jesus legends, but he's entirely overwhelmed by Hitchens' incontrovertible reason and charisma. What a lecture! What a reception. A joy to watch. Thank you for posting this.

@Greyhound1405 I disagree, the one he did at Oxford University against Alister McGrath has to be the best one.
