@KojachBaumherr The song in this episode was good beacuse of how it was used. The song by itself, whoever sings it, is why we still listen to it. I am glad that I first heard it on Oz. I had no empathy for Redding but the writers/producers used it right.
A search shows Louis Gosset as songwriter/ Richard Pierce Havens as songwriter-- so they share credit. But I remember Richie saying in an interview that Lou Gosset wrote this song. Maybe he was being modest.
