I left Lancashire in 1983, was homesick for a year and never felt like that again until I heard this track. Also makes me think of my soon to be son-in-law who is currently serving in Afghanistan. And YES we have open arms for them to come back to. Love every track of this album! Great memories of Elbow live in Brighton!

I love this band! I discovered Elbow with the Leaders of the Free World album, but I quickly picked up their entire catalogue. These guys get better with every album, and I would love to see them really break through here in the US. I, for one, love music from the UK. Most of my favorite bands are from the UK, or they are under-appreciated in the US while having many fans in the UK and the world.

Amazing clip...and it was even more fantastic to see it played live @ SECC in Glasgow last night! For those commenting about this song finishing the concert, Open Arms was last song of the main set before they left stage and returned for their encore which ended with the similarly anthemic One Day Like This.
