Hey. you touched a place in my heart . my son is nearly 2 he has cerebal palsy. His condition is gettin worse and he cant really speak. he only has a few little words. your an insperation and youve proved to me that its possible to do everything anybody else can. thankyou so much.
Great video. Being disabled at least from my experience is incredibly lonely. I dated one person when I was 18 and now I am 29 and have not had a girlfriend since. I would prefer to date someone else that has a disability as we would better be able to relate. I keep hoping to meet someone special but I am unable to leave the house much these days so I guess it’s going lonely for me. I really like your videos. They really help people understand what we go through every day.
Hi! You are indeed an inspiration. For years I have been wondering who I am and what it is God wants me to do with my life. I have been chasing jobs with many fake, and completely one dimensional people. Then I lost my dad to cancer, and it kind of woke up an interest in working with people either medically or caring . we all moan at small things, but watching you teaches us all what really matters, and as everyone else says, you have so much to offer, and are so positive.
If I had the chance I'd ask you out in a second. I've watched your videos and you are very strong of mind and will (not to mention beautiful)! Whomever you are with is a lucky person indeed.
Have you ever considered teaching? You are great at explaining your disability, etc., and very interesting to listen to. I'm not sure what you're taking in college, but I think you should consider it :D
It does not appear to me that attitudes have changed significantly.
40 years ago, when I was in grade school, those with a disability, especially those with spasticity were automatically assumed to be also developmentally disabled, or in the language of the day, mentally retarded.
Changing these perceptions has a long road still to travel.
If children were able to interact with disabled individuals at a young age, this ignorant attitude would be disappearing.
@351460 i agree 100%. i have young cousins who never looked at me as if i was weird/not "normal."
the problem is that most adults are clueless about people with disabilities, so how can they help their kids understand if they don't understand it themselves?
@powerchairchick With the advance of medical science, there are very few persons with obvious disabilities.
Because of this, few adults have had any interaction with disabled individuals unless their friends, significant other, or offspring are disabled.
Consequently, when their children, who are always naturally curious, see a disabled individual, the parents have no idea what to tell them, and are usually mortified should the child ask the disabled person questions.
Agree with the others. You are VERY beautiful and should have minimal problems attracting an non disabled or disabled man. Once you demonstrate your above average intelligence, keeping them will be no problems either. This is coming from a non disabled guy. Good luck!
It's cool to have stumbled across your videos. A college classmate of mine (at an Ivy League school) had CP at what appears to be a degree/type similar to yours. He's extraordinarily intelligent but people always assumed that he was cognitively disabled, so he often took to wearing a Harvard t-shirt in public. Thank you for showing people on YouTube that people with CP can be treated socially and intellectually like anyone else.
when mine says 'help' the voice always sounds alarmed which is funny in middle of another sentence where voice says rest of it fairly monotone.. like ' i had to ask for HELP!! yesterday at the shops'. it makes people laugh!! :O)
As a mother of a son who has CP, I was asking myself the same question over and over (although he has not mentioned it much yet)... He uses a power chair at school, but is attending a regular classes at high school with minimul help. I am so glad to find you! You gave me tremendous courage and hope. Thank you!! (My son is 17 now. Is he too young for you? ^^)
I've been researching the affects of music and motor response in people with CP. I came across this video and I must say I think you're very brave for sharing yourself like this.
One piece of advice, never date a guy with a Camaro XD
