Marathons in western countries also often have people in costume who aren't taking it seriously, but they're usually just cross dressers or folks wearing cardboard boxes. XD

I have a friend who is a pharmacist, and he is 60+ years old and he runs marathons. I have gone to see him on many occasions and it is very impressive. One year at the Boston Marathon he was telling me that in one of the tents they had a sign that read "Most people won't drive 26 miles today". It is very emotional. Getting older is not a bad thing, as long as you never grow up.
