My dad is bipolar, he is paranoid and narcissistic but with medicine he is half way normal. I have avoidant disorder, one of my sisters is histrionic , the other is paranoid and the other seems somewhat normal, she takes after my normal mother but the rest of us take after our bipolar dad yet we 3 have different personality disorders. What is the cause for these crazy personalities? I would say evil spirits but I am hoping I am wrong.
@Kyjo34 I have avoidant and paranoid personality disorder and my mom doesn't like believing in these sorts of disorders. Her answer for everything is always "Pray, blahhh, Ima pray for you blaaah, let's pray BLAHHH" I KNOW SHE THINKS IT BUT SHE NEEDS TO ACCEPT THAT HER FUCKING DAUGHTER NEEDS HELP. Ugh, I mean...she finally told me that my uncle has schizophrenia but she said he has demons. I was like HERE WEEE GOOO AGAINNN. But I am glad she shared that with me because now I now that it's gentic
@Villeishott There is no help for avoidant personality, they don't know what causes it and there is no cure for it that I know of. I believe avoidant personality has a lot to do with people pleasing. If you can ever get over trying to please people and caring so much about how other's see you. I think it could very well be demonic spirits messing with us but that is my own personal guess at this weird disorder. It makes your life misserable and we all know satan is about making R life misserabl
My son recently committed suicide because his wife suffers from PPD, she dogged him until he put a bullet through his head, she falsely accused him of cheating on her, and that day was giving him the "silent treatment" about it now she acts like she doesn't understand what happened. We are in a world of hurt. This is a very deadly disease, and those that enable them are just as guilty... her mother swept her problems under the rug when we found out about the problem was affecting their marriage.
@tiredowalkin I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. I'm only just finding out about such psychological conditions and its not good enough that there's not enough awareness about these conditions.
The saddest part is that ppl with this disorder have self-fulfilling prophecies. They start off on the premise that they will be betrayed and behave accordingly, when thrown aside, they think to themselves, "I knew it!" Little do they know it was largely of their own doing.
Why is there no medication for this?!? I can't hold a steady relationship with more the. 2 or 3 people at once. And I still don't completely trust them.
@ppinkxkisses Vitamin B supplement can help. Like a B 100 complex, time- released, four a day, depending on blood volume. It is better absorbed when taken with vitamin C. Vitamin B is good for helping with emotional problems. Magnesium citrate helps too, and is better absorbed when taken with calcium ( ie with milk)
Wow, I have Avoidant Personality Disorder and didn't think there was anything worse than that but after watching this, I am SO thankful I don't have this. Scary...
@fnj6 I have to disagree with you. Personality disorders are different than heritable genetic defects in that they CAN be treated with psychotherapy alone. The hard part about this disorder is that the sufferer has built up this paranoid mechanism over time and will be resistant to therapy. Even though PPD crops up in families that tend to have members with psychotic disorders there is no direct casual link to genes.
I think the main danger is you feel like one day you will lose it....*waves at Nietzsche* Fortunately I am only paranoid of people I let get close to me...I think all of these people are out to get me, because I did something...wrong...oh, sheesh, that would suck if I actually had this. -_-
a couple of friends have called me paranoid. these couple of friends i found out talked shit behind my back. when people say that they're your friend but then call you paranoid in an offensive way really don't go hand in hand. if someone calls you paranoid, don't listen to them, because in most cases they are calling you that because they're hiding something.
I can tell you unequivocally that growing up in a Nazi Concentration Camp is a definite cause of developing Paranoid Personality Disorder. This means that 65 years after the liberation of the camps, family members of these victims ARE STILL SUFFERING from Nazi brutality and its like you can never get far enough away from Nazis.
This woman doesn't seem to think that anybody who is afflicted with a personality disorder is aware they have this disorder. I have paranoid personality disorder and, yes, it's true like she said it has fucked up my life. However, I am aware I have it and you can get treatment for it. Psychiatrists can help you but it takes a lot of effort to get to grips with this disorder.
found out a day ago my paps has this he thinks the're cameras in the tv so he pulls me into the bathroom to talk to me everytime, he thinks my mom poisns his food, he thinks my moms cheating but then he says i know she can never do something like that?? wtf so contradictory it's dreadfull because at the end of the day its not his fault
@1990banks Ugh, I can completely understand this. My father once brought home "bug spray" for a camping trip, but IT WAS ONLY MEANT TO BE USED OUTSIDE ON THE SOIL AND WAS TOXIC. He had been planning to spray me with it. Fact 1: He is not an idiot. Fact 2: He bought a toxic spray for me to use. Conclusion: He wants to poison me. Welcome to the rest of my life. The truth is that you can never *really* know people...and hypothesis-negating assumptions are bad science.
One of the causes is a parent that has a mood disorder. The child learns to be distrustful of people because the parent is unpredictable. One minute the parent is caring, nurturing, the other they are physically abusive or emotionally abusive. It causes constant vigiliance in the distressed child's mind. Because children can't handle stress like an adult, the conflict with the parent can cause damaging changes in a child's brain over time. It is mostly untreatable.
@suckbar69 I had a parent like that but I could distinguish that not all people were like that just them, so if the child has common sense, they should be fine.
@suckbar69 Very true my parents are exactly like that and god forbid I say, they are to blame for this. I never became paranoid, I was fucking born paranoid.
Well yeah, it's nice to be pre-programmed with paranoid personality in your genes.
Thank you genetics for letting me live a long miserable, depressed, lonely, paranoid, isolated, anxious life...;)
@suckbar69 My late father had it. We lived in constant fear. My sister has had it since she was a teenager. They have made my life and my mother's a living hell.
It must be really, really hard for a politician to get votes from paranoid people.
