i tried to upgrade it but then i got the 0xE800005D and then i tried to restore it back to 2.2.1 but then i got uknown error code 1604 what do I do b/c im scared?

no, its not connecting to itunes. well i downgraded and im just gonna wait. i might upgrade to a 2nd gen anyway before the 3.0. thanks 4 yo helpps

no, i wasnt connected 2 the net. it once again gave me the error code. but now with 3.0

does your iPod still show the connect to itunes thing? i really don't know now, but the best thing I can think of is to downgrade and just wait for the official 3.0 to come out. you can always try it again though, to see if it'll work the second time around.

umm are you connected to the internet? if you are then you can't sync.

umm, does it have to be 5H11, or 5F136? because my ipod allready has 2.2.1

after it restores perfectly fine, it shows the "connect to itunes" pi c. then when i do, and it detects it it says "cannot sync: error..." and the error was somethin like 0xE8000052 or somthin like that. i have tried like 3 different firmware files. and yes, 1st gen

ok. what you have to do is downgrade back to the 2.2.1 firmware. to do this you have to set your iPod in DFU mode (search it on youtube) and restore. You can find many videos of how to downgrade on youtube. I had to downgrade mine because I got the error that you got, so you aren't the only one.

u must hav been conected to the internet wen u did this, u must disconnect from the internet completely first

yeah. when you sync, your computer must be offline.

you can use winrar, just install it, and find the file, and then extract it.

right now there's no reliable one, as you would need a developer account to even sync it (even w/o internet) on the iPhone.

I think that's maybe a side affect to having the 3.0 so early, and remember: if you don't like it, you could always go back to the 2.2.1!

you might want to include that it wont sync with itunes unless you use the Windows Firewall to make a rule to block itunes's connection to the internet.
