  • I remember some scary movies I saw on TV then, The Car and Curse of the Black Widow (which both are on youtube). TV then was pretty simple as the cable was strictly HBO. I used to watch Patches and Pockets on Sunday mornings, Bugs Bunny Road Runner Hour,Popeye, Make A wish (Tom Chapin),and many other fun shows. Captain and Tennille,Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour,Bionic Woman,Wonder Woman were on at night. Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley and Family.

  • The Lake was still beautiful at the time. My grandfather used have a cottage at Mitiwanga Park Ohio not far from Huron Ohio. We used to go perch fishing and had tons of fish to clean. I miss the cottage and the smell of frying battered perch. I remember going to the beach and collecting shells and washed glass which was softened by the water after a long period of time.

There used to be red clay banks near the shore and my grandmother used to make ceramics with it.

  • Picture it, Lake Erie 1977 near Cedar Point Amusement park, vividly remember the Gemini Rollercoaster being built, the Jumbo Jet ride (which was closed due to an accident),Blue Streak was relatively new. The lake was full of dead fish because of serious contamination. I remember the song Ebony Eyes and You've me believe in magic by Bay City Rollers,Lonely Boy by Andrew Gold were on the charts and I heard that alot on the radio then.

  • heard this for the first time on the radio, needless to say I am hooked.

  • @defleppardgirl2009 I heard it at an oyster house. Good song.

  • 1978

  • cool song, better without the original video, it cant compare with my imagination !!

  • 80s???

  • Imagine riding into a small Mexican town overrun by drug cartels and blowing em away to this song

  • @TheSPACECOWBOY68 Yeah, I can picture it.

  • I sang this song in the car before going on a date 4 weeks ago. Now I have a new girlfriend. THANKS to THIS song !!!!!! Made me feel good and "at ease".... Now I'm holding her close every night ! ha ha ha ha

  • @Stealthkeys77 Thats fn awesome!!!!!!!!

  • GREAT SONG. Love me some Bob Welch. Nice post

  • Bad ass song!

  • my favorite era.....What a great share !!!

  • @PlayForMeASymphony I lived it. Miss it alot. I have vivid memories of the 1970's. I am writing a memoir of my life in my hometown and my travels. I believe in photographic memories, which I have because I reminisce about those days alot. When you get older all you have are memories and mostly good ones.

  • I traded my chocolate milk for this 45 when i was a kid lol:)

  • very underrated song, bob welch was actually a FANTASTIC guitarist!!!

  • excellent bass

  • OMG! I was 16 when this song came out and its still a hit.

  • now i feel old, this was playing on the oldies station!!

  • Hooyah!

  • MAKES ME THINK OF HIGH SCHOOL!

  • Put this in your thumper and CRANK IT!!!

  • CLASSIC TUNES! Good guitar riff as well....Kind of Edgy but yet SMOOTH!

  • in the catalouge of killer guitar hooks - that's what turned me on to this song in high school.

  • Classic song loved it then still love it at age 45 years old this is real music loved growing up in the 70's too bad my 16 yr old will not great music like this!!

  • who are the two numb-nuts that did not like this classic? Mystifying

  • Haven't heard this song in over 25 years!NICE!

  • Good song, reminding me of younger years. Thanks!

  • The true genius that put Fleetwood Mac on the Map.

  • This was the ultimate drive-in Nookie Tune back in '78.......

  • Bob Seger, Peter Frampton, Bob Welch, Manfred Mann, Fleetwood Mac.......and so many others I can't immediately think of. I was 13 when this song came out. Ohhhhhh..........the MEMORIES! Ohhhhhh......the GIRLS!' 75 thru '78 music is as good as it gets.

  • This is one great overlooked rocker. I used to play it in an older version of my present band. We tried it again recently and I was depressed to find that I couldn't hit the higher notes in the chorus return towards the end. Damn shame, because I think that we played it harder with more edge this last time. Just a GREAT song.

  • yeah I sure wish all the audio to vids were as crisp and clear as they are on this

    particular upload!

KILLER audio and obviously one of Welch's top 3 or 4 songs IMHO

  • @thekeifernet what are other recommendations? I just discovered this, and love it.

  • @alexmcvey Sentimental Lady, "Hypnotized" and Hot love, cold world is a pretty good one too.

He has some other tunes over the years that are good just never got any air play so no one

knows them. Quite a few loaded up on here if you hunt and listen you will find a few you might like.

  • I first heard this in november 1977 fantastic song . Was at my 1st year of secondary school.

  • This voice can "hypnotize" me for sure !!! Love his music and it IS very under appreciated.

  • I think it was 1978, I was 18 years old finishing high school, great memories !!

  • what ever happened to my 45 rpm of this???

  • He was always a very underrated musician like Joe Walsh !!!!!!

  • This song epitomizes the 70s sound -- classic rock guitar riff with classical instrumentals during the chorus. What a fantastic tune!

  • I love this song.. but he didn't bait the hook very well. One verse and then the chorus.

  • Epic song. By the way doesn't he look like Andre Rieu in that picture?

  • This is a better sounding version that the other two which were the original videos used back in the day.

  • the late 60s &70s had some bad ass songs.alot better than the cookie cutter crap like now days

  • bumba bumba baa!

  • I remember this when it hit radio in 77 and never quit jamming it since...BOB ROCKS!

  • Great song, but I don't remember that it got a lot of air time. Thank you for the post.

  • @gva0917 It didn't get a lot of air time. Sentimental Lady got all the attention

  • @ruffnerr It shoud have; it is a TERRIFIC song. I absolutely loved/love it. Sentimental Lady was great too, but this is just as good in a different way. Thank you for the post.

  • @ruffnerr It recieved enough airtime to peak at number 14 on the charts in 1978..

  • good old song, either these comp, are old at the library here in jax Fla or something they all wont Play

  • had this 8 track pumping through Jensen Co-axials in '77...in a "73 Duster...wow, great times indeed.

  • i remember this very well being played on the radio in 1977. Great Song. Nothing today compares to the great music of the 1970's, which most people stereotype as the disco era which is not totally true. Disco was one part of the seventies music. Most of the 1970's was ecclectic and much better produced than the garbage people call "music" today.

  • Great, great tune from an underrated album. Definitely what critic Chuck Eddy would've called "disco metal".

  • Wow this song is good. It's almost as good as when I listen to it on the vinyl. For some reason things just seem so sound better on those. And I'm 18! What does that tell you!?

  • @Hedlum Dude, I hear you. There's a fullness and a richness on vinyl that you just don't get on a digital copy. Plus it's kinda fun thikin about my old man droppin the needle on the exact same track decades ago!

  • @Hedlum -It tells this man who is now pushing 50, and remembers being a 14 year old when the song came out, that you are one hell of an intelligent young man! Peace be with you! Keep on singing, keep on playing, and NEVER let that vinyl out of your hands!

  • @GonzGunner Lol thanks. I don't know about singing and playing but i'll definatly keep on listening! And yes, I will keep my hands on that vinyl for no reason other than I just like it.

  • @Hedlum It tells me you have very good taste. :)

  • @Hedlum that your really starving for attention and you have no problem begging for it on the internet

  • @secretdesires Soyour saying I'm a teenager? What else is new.

  • @Hedlum shit how do you remember vynal you re not old enough lol

  • @MrRedwing1930 I don't remember it lol. My dad has a small collection that he's been slowly been growing and I listen to them every once in a while.

  • @Hedlum It tells me that you can appreciate the warm full and familiar sound that comes with vinyl. On vinyl the music recorded all together at once, all of it moving in one direction together never stopping. You just don't get that with digital music.

  • @hungdaddy84 Yeah it really does have that kind of feel to it. I didn't really know how to describe it though.

  • @Hedlum I've grown up my whole life with my dad telling me how much better vinyl is, and hes so right. I'm 25, and i feel privalleged to have grown up and developed his love and knowledge of music and artists from the 60 and 70s era... they're by far my fav eras for music. :)

  • @Hedlum And what does you being 18 have anything to do with listening to a song on vinyl?

  • @Hedlum your a 50 year old trapped (woo hoo) in an 18 year old body?

  • @needaman66 That's actually kind of an nice idea. Experience of a 50 year old with the vitality of an 18 year old.

  • the late 70's rock

  • French Kiss is one of the best late 70's albums and can hold it self right next Hotel California and Rumors....

  • bob welch from waupaca rocks

  • Now this is my kind of passionate soul love song.

  • Great song. One that never needed to grow on me, and never tires.

    Thanks for the quality recording!

  • Bob Welch is like Dave Mason a very under rated musician!!!!!!!!!

  • This guy was a very under rated musician

  • big shout out of Thanks to the guys at 105.3 in Kitchener for helping out with the title to this song. It was bothering me and hubby for over 1.5 years and couldn't name that tune. Humming and singing most of it and no one we knew ,knew the name either. THANKS GUYS we can sleep peacefully now.....lol

  • nice hook. this guy makes grape juice and jelly products too.

  • @dynagravitomagnetic Amen and More! Lol

  • @BBQFanNo1 BOB WELCH IS AWESOME HE IS FROM WAUPACA ONE OF MY OLD teachers

  • Okay songwriters/arrangers, notice how he does one verse and goes straight to the hook? Most songs have verse then another verse, then the hook. That's a mistake. We have short attention spans, get right to the hook, like Bob did on this tune.

  • @Exilemainstreet I always appreciate that difference in this song...a surprising change.

  • Thats an A-minor

  • welch the guitar wizard

  • Like this from that opening lick, when it first aired, of course, Never knew he was in Mac at that point! Welch was already a solo artist, late 70s this was already CLASSIC ROCK radio!!!

  • I had a massive crush on this girl named Annette when I was in late junior high;& it always brings back the fondest memories!~Thanks for the beat,Bob!~You're the Best! :)

  • @Blucidian09 Ditto, I was dating a girl named Debbie! Always reminds me of her and the awesome '70's

  • ive got this song on 45 vinyl record

  • Back in 1979 Bob Welch was touring with Atlanta Rhythm Section,They came to Ball State and were sold out.My friend Kurt and I went to see if any tickets had been returned and sure enough two right in the front row! best seats I ever had in my life!

  • Only just heard this on Ken Bruce on Radio 2 and it was kicking in my car. Great stuff.

  • Love this song!

  • thanks 4 putting this on here man im 23 an love classic rock bob welch is the man awesome guitar blows away these musicians now 'a'days

  • A Great song from a great album. I played the crap out of this one!

  • Oh yeahhhh....summer of 78 comes back to life when I hear this one.

  • @StaRiteA3 Yep, this song during senior year kicked it well.. also a slower tune from that summer called "magnet and steel" from Walter Egan... good times....good times!

  • grandes tiempos cuando sonaba en stereo 100,mex.df.un gran clasico de esa estacion en esa gran epoca de la radio.....aun con la disco encima.....

  • this is the jam...

  • CLASSIC!!!

  • CLASSIC!

  • This stuff is great. Bob fucking smokes on guitar in this, great riff

  • Love this song.

  • why doesn't modern music give us something like this? seems all i hear is some generic pop or an angry guy screaming unintelligable words over power chords.

  • This is a great song - the guitar work I thought was great! However, it makes me feel old - I'm 45 and wasn't this song released ing the '70's. :)

  • @fwosmek I'm 43 and yes, it was!

  • This song is killer.i love the guitar on it.Its a song that makes you float away a bit.

  • Bob Welch is my nigga...mad love for diss nigga B-o-b....yeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Love this song...thanks for posting!

  • LOVE this song!...classic 70s at its best!

  • Nothing said '70s summer days, driving around in a '67 Ford Mustang and FM radio playing this song. Thanks for the upload.

  • Oh more memories ! I had my own Ebony Eyes...September 7 1971.....My twelth grade English teacher Ms Fairburns...Ebony Eyes and tight sweaters...too bad she was married to the gym teacher ..a musclebound hulk who would have kicked my pale ass if he knew about my fantasies

  • very very good ,great song unforgettable ,Bob Welch

  • ...yes jaymoney...LOST fans will hear how Drive Shaft fans got the 'inpiration' for their hit song 'You All Everybody'

  • RAWK! thanks for posting.

  • I love it

  • You all Everybody lol

  • yeahhh!!!

hilarious!!! "...acting like these stupid people wearing expensive clothes..."

see ya in a another life, brother! ;)

  • excellent 5 stars

  • Thanks for posting this!! Brings back a lot of memories...

  • The riff sounds an awful lot like a riff from R.E.M.'s "Begin The Begin".

  • this song is great , i love it, except his greatest hits version is not the original sound it was re done

  • What are you talking about???

This is the greatest hits version(see the picture above) and it is probaly just re-mastered like every other older song!

Get the cd FRENCH KISS and compare.

Re-mastered equals better bass and treble sound.Sounds a little better and louder but no change in the actual original recording.

  • you cant compare the original anything to something copied or redone, because the original has its own uniqueness, which makes it better. same with movies, all the fluff doesnt make it better

  • superior sound quality here on this posting. thanks a heap ! a rare-ish gem. i remember when it had it's run in the wintertime that year then it largely disappeared..

  • oohh very lolvey ,,thnx huni nick for the share xbabsie babe xxx

  • Love that guitar riff !!!!!!!!

  • this jams !

  • This song kicks ass. Period. Classic rock gem!

  • @lookingforfun70 I'm with you....awesome (under-appreciated) classic! That opening riff is the coolest!

  • LOL! It's been a hard fall for Bob.

  • Certainly one of my all time fav as a kid from the 70's

  • I'm playing it again! He made his mark on music fans!! Wish he'd make more!

  • Thanks, great quality, I only wish the guitar was higher in the mix, that opening riff is great.

  • Geez he does sound like Steve Miller,

    or vice versa.

  • Where is he now? Who couldn't love this?!

  • Las Vegas doin' sold-out shows.

He has kept busy in the industry with his music.

  • 1978 I Think it was.Its still got a great vibe going for it,....got funky yet cool sound.

  • I had this on 45 single my first year of high school, 1978. Played the heck out of little single.

  • PETEM4 This is such a great song for me to get a boost to go out and take care of some business. Thanks for sharing and know our new friendship on this sight shall be enjoyed by your selections, which have been GREAT. Peace!Nancyl2

  • Bob Welch is one of the greatest "triple threats" the music world has ever known. That is, he can compose, sing, and play magnificently. I have always loved his guitar tone, he is one of the few guitarists ( Hendrix being one of the others ) who could transfer the sounds he got in the studio to the stage easily. He deserved much more credit than most of his contemporaries in his heyday got and took for granted.

  • 10/4 partner................such talent and one artist whom we can put on top of the world

  • @GonzGunner He's certainly not appreciated for his unique song crafting, and it is unique!

  • @MetallicBill -I hear you on that, Bill. Just when you think "Ebony Eyes" is a pop song, Bob kicks the door down and unleashes the whole shebang! Most musicians, if they are smart ( not too many, I guess ) wish they had Bob's songwriting skills. That has supplanted being a "guitar hero", and to me, thank goodness! I, as a guitarist, will always take a good, well written song over something that sounds like noodling just for it's own sake.

  • @GonzGunner This song DOES have that awesome guitar lick, and it's a pop song as well, but it's also Hard Rock style Heavy and Bob was always writing songs about women, as well, a belief in things we can't explain, so I think he shares that with House Of Blues' Dan Ackroyd [sp? ] who is a believer in mysterious things we can't explain away with science, be it ghosts or ETs, I think they like to get people thinking about that. Bob should have had a good handful of songs like Ebony Eyes

  • @GonzGunner very well put! His earlier Fleetwood Macc tunes were grossly underrated also, especially "hypnotized".

  • @scubarulz -I love "Hypnotized! Makes me feel very peaceful, a great song, again, hardly any credit given to Bob Welch for great songwriting.

  • @GonzGunner You are so correct Gonz,,SIGH,,I would have loved to see more written from Bob!

  • @apachescalp -I would have loved to see Bob in person. But my Mom wouldn't let my "tender" 14 year old self (going on 15, LOL!) go to Cal Jam 2 in 1978...but when I did turn 15, all of a sudden, I was "liberated" to go see my very first concert, the original Boston, with Sammy Hagar opening for them, at the LA Forum. What an experience for a first concert! I thanked my Mom when I got back home...and yes, first thing from her..."you smell like DOPE!" LOL!" We laugh about it now :)

  • @GonzGunner My first concert was around the same time on the Black Sabbath/Blue Oyster Cult "Black and Blue" tour...it was awesome..................

  • the jam! this and all his other songs like "precious love", " sentimental lady" & other songs Bob did were/are awesome1
