The healing surge isn't there to make her a support champion imo, the reason you max that out first is so you can stay in your lane for a long time and outfarm others, since nidalee's early game pretty much sucks. You can't really get any first bloods etc, the high damage comes at lvl 10+.

Malphite should have used his ult at 13:17 on ashe and nunu. Warwick was on his way and it would have stopped the Nunu ult while damaging both champs.
