  • I have tried it... So far so good :). Thanks

  • Un altro SyncMaster 710V sottratto all'Isola Ecologica :-) Grazie fringuello79

  • Worked for me!!!!!! THXTHXTHXTHXTHXTHXTHXTHXTHXTHX

  • Not sure where everyone gets the 2 watt requirement. The body of the resistor used in the video is clearly a 1/4 or maybe 1/2 watt resistor at most. The current crossing over a microprocessor chip is going to be very minimal. I used a 1/2 watt 47 ohm and wait to see how long it will last. I got 3 monitors for free from a customer so I am way ahead dollar wise if this fixes all three.

  • Now 47 ohm resistor is on place, but after a while (when changing display mode) is still shows message box "No optimum mode". It needs to plug off power cable and plug back on to work again.

    Any other solutions?

  • Gracias Gracias..

  • what this modification doing?

  • Thanks man.IT WORKS GREAT! and i just use a 50ohm resistor from a bad 56k modem!

  • thanks a lottttttt! from GREECE!!! GREciaaa!~!!!@!@@!

  • I knew that there schould be a tweak, WORKS! nice Thanks!

  • It worked for me. Monitor now displaying ok. Thanks

  • It worked for me. Monitor now displaying ok.

  • THANK YOU MAN! YOU WERE MY LAST OPTION!IT WORKED!

  • All the notes in the video are in english, learn english and see the video, all i wrote is all you need testadeca'

  • speak the fucking englis man to understood all people not just the fuckings intalians...

  • YES IT WORKED!

  • Very good , cara esse video resolvel o problema do meu monitor muito bom ,

Jiraya Brasil , São Paulo valeu !

  • Thanks

It worked with 47 ohm, 0,6Wat.

  • It works for mine, I thank you very much!!!

  • Hi, I've soldered a 470 Ohm resistor instead of 47 Ohm and now I get a black screen and a flashing LED every time I plug in the PC cable. Can this be helped?

  • Great fix! Saved me loads of time, so a BIG THANKYOU TO YOU!!! :-)

  • After welding the resistor to pin 5 and 6 , the monitor just worked perfectly , and than after approximately 2 months it gives me the same error. Please give me any suggestion to repair the monitor again !!! Please !!!

  • THANK YOU I saved a lot of money! :)

  • to be in good working, thanks for this.... :)

  • It does exactly what it says on the can it works thank you grazie mille fringuello79

  • I can't believe it actually worked!!! I have a Syncmaster 913N. Low soldering ability my ass.. Make sure you are very skilled or have proper soldering equipment at hand before trying this venture. Thanks!!!!!!

Grazie fringuello79

  • So far so good on my Samsung 713N. I used a 47Ohm 1/2W resistor. It was a pain to solder it on since its a small chip...and it was my first time lol!

  • Actually, I can't change the resolution on my PS3. Plus, the quality is just OK but 1min after the LCD turns off and I can't watch the movie...ahhhh

  • Will this work on a 2253BW?

I want to watch movies on my PS3 and I have always that boody error...thanks

  • @renavspainatal

don't know if the 2253BW has the same problem...maybe your problem is the out resolution setted on the ps3 baecause of your native monitor resolution (1680x1050). Did you try to change the resolution from the ps3 video settings?

  • thank you I just solved a problem that bothered me a lot, this your video helped me a lot. people believe that this is the true solution and is guaranteed 100%. thanks again ... :)

  • italia 1 : samsung 0

perfetto!!!! su un samsung gh19ls 19 pollici...

    perfect. works great.

  • Fringuello79:

I am using resistor 47ohm 1/8 w try to fix my samsung 913V but not working. It still give me the error Not Optimum Mode... Should I use at least 1w 17 ohm resistor or I can't fix samsung 913V by using this way

  • Yup it works thanks a million man

    :)

  • Thank You for this solution. It worked for me perfectly.I payed 5 eurocents and half an hour of my time and now I own a perfect flatscreen

    Thanks for sharing =] Pierluigi.

  • Wow! This worked a treat! Bigups to the guy who worked this out, it puzzles me how he did! Saved me £100 forking out for a new 19" flatscreen... THANKS!

  • Trying this tonight, got my resistors online from Maplin UK

  • @akittsy Hey man. I don't really know the voltage, I just asked the lady, for a 47Ohm resistor lol. But I remember her saying something about 1W or 1.5W? sorry i can't be more helpful :|

  • @MrReiko71

    Thanks for the tip.

    I used 470 ohm 1/2 watt 1% tolerence resistor.

The monitor has worked flawlessly for the last 5 days with out being switched off

  • Works brilliantly, thank you

  • I was a bit skeptic in the beginning but I didn't had any other option so I figured.. wth.

Bought the 47Ohm resistor, CAREFULLY opened the LCD case and then solded the resistor to the microprocessors pins shown in the video.

This is the 6th day since I made the modding and Im happy to say it worked like a charm no more errors. Thanks for this video.

  • ;-)

  • @gamesonicedotcom hi mate what wattage does the 47 Ohm resistor need to be cheers ayron

  • !!!! IMPORTANT POST !!!!

I will buy any samsung LCD that has this error : NOT OPTIMUM MODE RESOLUTION

    contact me

  • How to dismantle a 710N:

Remove the 2 screws near the bottom, and the 4 screws in the stand attachment. Remove the stand. Insert a screwdriver in the crack between the grey and the black part of the cabinet. Slide it all the way round, thus releasing the black back.

Remove the 2 screws now visible from the metal casing. Unplug the cord from the keypad and remove the grey frame. Remove the 4 screws on sides of monitor. Unplug the cord from the graphics board, and remove the metal casing.

  • Hello, another grateful user of your invention :)

Don't worry about the power-rating of the resistor, it seems the voltage never exceeds 0.6 V, so the power is about 8 mW.

  • you should record, how to open monitor. i broke my, when i try to open. :)

  • @majtekst

how did you manage that ? yes it is hard but if you broke your monitor so how will you solder?it is 10times harder

  • This morning I done this procedure, but doesn't work for me. I am not electrician and don't know why it's not fixed?

  • @majtekst

what rezistor have you used and did you solder correctly?

  • I've broke just frame arround lcd screen, but i fixed with glue. I used recommended resistance 47ohm. I'm not quite sure does i weld real parts. Is it possible to put bigger picture of that chip and parts which we need to weld. also, it's very hard to welde, because it's very short space between this two parts. thank you for you time!!!

  • @majtekst

hey i know it's hard but possible i and my father did it

how much wats rezistor had ?

  • this work very well ....3thumbs up

  • works perfekt!!!!

  • Works! fringuello79 for president!

  • @jgte1977

    ;-)

  • I just fixed my monitor using this guide.

    Used 47 Ohm, 0,5 W resistor.

Thanks a lot for posting this.

  • can i use 50ohm ? :D

  • @ZombiSI

better use 2w 47 ohm rezistor just for safety

  • Hi everyone,

Just fyi, I had tried fringuello79's solution on my Samsung SyncMaster710N monitor and it works! I used a 2W 47ohm resistor.

I think besides helping us salvage our monitors, the solution also helps recycling and reduce pollution on a bigger picture ;D

Thank you very much fringuello79 :)

  • i'm happy to be helpful, ;-)

  • My word, it works! And I didn't screw up! This may be the first successful thing I've ever done. Thanks very much for the guide (and the translation). I could only find a 0.6 Watt, 47 Ohm resistor but it seems to work just fine. A 17 pence resistor (plus cheap soldering iron and a small bit of stolen solder) saved me the cost of a new monitor. Brilliant, cheers!

  • ;-)

  • thanks fringuello79 me and my father (my father mostly) fixed this problem now we have working monitor thanks again :)

  • ;-)

  • forgot to mension I used 2w 47 ohm rezistor

  • Hi gandolero, thanks for the reply

i spent quite some time removing the back cover from the LCD, thank God, manage to open it without cracking the plastic, Good luck to u too ;)

  • Hi, i also have the same problem with my Samsung SynMaster 710N. Understand that the resistor required is 2W 47ohm. Can anyone advise on the voltage rating of the resistor? Thanks in advance

  • just get any 47 ohm resistor, resistors job is to limit current flowing through them. Most processors use TTL logic which is 5v, any resistor will easily handle that load with no problem. I just had my monitor go away this morning, same problem, I will try that fix myself too. Good luck.

  • cheers mate :D

    it works. used a 1W 47Ohm resistor.

soldering the resistor to the chip was difficult.

    now lets hope it lasts.

  • Funzica :)

  • This works great! Thanks. I just fixed my 915N with a 47 ohm, 1/8W resistor!

  • Hey, congratz man! I used a 1/4 Watt 47Ohm resistor myself but I was told that it should have been a 2Watt instead. I guess we'll have to wait and see if these little dudes can withstand their load.

I have no idea how much current flows through pins 5 and 6... @spaidermenas2 (did the OP mention the 2watt value somewhere?)

  • @spaidermenas2: nevermind... just read it below. I guess I will better go safe and exchange the resistor tomorrow ;) Better safe than sorry...

  • dunoo maybe I'm afraid to do it myself everything is so small in there :(

  • A quick question: I used a 1/4 Watt resistor. Should I have used one for 2W (or something else) instead?

    Thanks!

  • 2w 47ohm

  • Thanks for answering! I'll have to pick up a new resistor tomorrow.

Just out of curiosity: do you think anything bad will happen by using the monitor with the 1/4 Watt resistor I soldered in there? The monitor has been working flawlessly all day.

    Cheers!

  • I forgot to mention: I did use a 47 Ohm resistor of course.

  • @michor10 dunno maybe nothing or everything

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH! This fix worked like a charm and I have my sweet screen brought back to life now! :)

  • Hello ! Ich habe für 5 E cent Monitor repariert !!!! Danke fringuello79 !!

  • Great mod and easy to do.

Thank You Fringuello, You're a Legend!

  • i am about to try this.

can you guys that got it work post a video with better pictures? i dont want to solder the resistor to the wrong side. thanks

  • it is so simple, look the orientation of the written on time o:30 frame on the drawing, you can't do it wrong...you must solder on the first and the second pin from the left on the upside.

  • Works fine on 920n. But sometimes i still see that error. Then i just fastly change resoliution to 1280x1024.. well exactly the same as error says , and ir works ;]

  • just did this on my 715v that had the "not optimum mode" error. i used a 47ohm .5 watt resistor from radio shack. worked right away. thanks!

  • oh i forget i used 47 ohm rezistor with my 710n and nbow it works on all resoliutions

  • i just did this to my 710n and it worked like a charm!

    thank you fringuello79

  • thank you for that! its worked on my 713 as well, even tho my circuit board seems to have an extra chip on it

  • Funziona alla grande. GRAZIE MILLE

  • This Mod works great. thanks Fringuello you ROCK!!

I used a grinder to get an extra fine tip on the soldering iron. Its a little too difficult in there with a standard tip. I used short jumper wires to (2) 100 ohm resistors in parallel which yielded 45 ohms instead of the suggested 47 ohms. Samsung 19" Syncmaster 915N model is Repaired.

    Gracias Fringuello79 !

  • ;-)

  • Happy days, just tried out your idea with the resistor and it has worked perfectly.soldering the dam thing was the only problem.not much room for error...great job fringuello you have saved me from putting a hammer through the bloody thing..

  • thanks a lot. everything works fine. used a 56 ohm/1watt resistor.

  • a me?

  • hey man, this solution worked for me. though it was tricky trying to take out the shell of the monitor, used a flat screwdriver to get that out, and the chip was bloody small too. soldering took me about 5-10 minutes, trying to get them joined properly without falling off.

Once i was done, plugged it in and it worked like before. By the way my monitor is a Samsung Syncmaster 710v. and I used a 47ohm 1watt resistor. Couldn't find a 2 watt one here in Melbourne, Australia.

    Thanks again dude! =)

  • O_O incredibile

    FUNZIONA!!!

    grazie mille!

e poi è cosi semplice da fare =D

  • prego ;-)

  • No optimum mode is a widespread "illness" of Samsung SyncMasters. The cause is a defect of Novatek MICOMs. There's the other way to solve this problem. It's necessary to solder out this MICOM, then heat it to 350-430C, approximately 3-5 minutes.

  • another solution!....maybe is not so easy like the first one but it can be helpfull ;-)

  • Well tried the 47 ohm 1/2 watt resistor yesterday, worked for like 10-15mins. Later when i switch resolutions or try a cold boot to the monitior. I get that Not Optimum Text again.

Guess I have to find a 2 watt version. Radio Shack did not carry the 2 watt version, thats why i got the 1/2 watt. Oh well wasted 99 cents for 5 pack LOL.

  • Will a 47 ohm 1/2 watt work, or do i need a 47ohm 2 watt resistor?

  • i don't know, maybe not, but the only way to know is to try it. Let us know if you do it

  • YES. It works. Fixed my 913T with a 47Ohm 2Watt resistor. It works flawlessly on the VGA port. However, this fix may disabled the DVI port. I tried that port once and it wasn't working. But I rather have one working port than two that work poorly.

  • Whoa! I tried this yesterday - my lovely 710TM S-PVA panel came back to life! Thanks, fringuello79!

  • thanks duds its working...hehe

  • THANK YOU fringuello79, nice video, I had problem with my samsung 913n LCD, worked only with 1024x768, when i changed to 1280x1024 same error, after I welded 47 ohm resistor, everything worked....

    Thanks again!!!

    Good luck!

  • Prego!

Fantastic. Worked like a dream, the resistor only cost 2p. Be careful not to bridge the pins with the solder!

    Cheers Fringuello79!

  • Thanks a lot, worked like a dream!

  • Please

I have a samsung 710n. I´ve do it wat is

saying but my monitor works during 20 minutes. Are you sure about the 2 watt (?) resistense?

  • YES! It works! I had this problem on my SyncMaster 913N and now it works fine. Thank you fringuello for this post.

  • I was super pissed that this SAMSUNG BUG occurred yesterday - my 3 year warranty just expired and all the forum info seemed hopeless. Found and followed this video. It was my first time soldering something this small. actually- soldering ever! It worked. wasn't super easy - but seems to be worth the effort!! Eat shit SAMSUNG - you lost a young customer forever You should have offered an LCD exchange for this bug regardless of warranty - BOYCOT SAMSUNG -HUGE THANKS fringuello79! Viva Italia.

  • grazie 1000

  • Yes yes, this really works. I thank the publisher of this with all my heart.

  • grazie grazie grazie. Samsung carga $100+ U.S. p' este.

  • funziona. grazie per la dritta. :-)

  • Work Perfect for my Samsung SyncMaster 713BM

    Thanks!

  • Hi, thanks for the tip, I have the same problem with samsung syncmaster 913V and after soldering a 47 Ohm resistor between pin 5&6 the set worked fine for an hour and then went back to [ No optimum mode..etc..] I guess that there's and over heating problem somewhere..
