So, ALL the poision is at the very tip of the spines so just buring the very tips of the spines with a lighter will nutrilize ALL of the lionfish's poision?
I watched another video where they just tossed the lionfish in a cooler full of heavily salted iced to rapidly freeze them. The fish froze on the way to the dock and even after repeated punctures while cleaning, nobody got stung. I thought that was a "cool" idea.
BTW the reason everyone should kill lionfish is that they are very slow moving and all small reef fish don't consider them to be a predator until its too late. They have tremendous suction power and can eat up all the beautiful tropical fish where they are hanging out. WATCHOUT for the poison spines though!
We used to see these when we were kids snorkeling in the Indian Ocean. About a week ago I found out this predator has invaded the Caribbean and along the S. E. US and with no natural predators. I'll be heading down to Grand Cayman in 2 wks and I hope to see this fish again, and this time I'll be a lionfish killer!
Great stuff, I'm going to the beach right now, my girlfriend is going to stay on the beach and I'm going free diving. I'm hoping not to see a lionfish, but If I do I'm goin to wack him. Thanks for the techniques, you learn something new everyday. Stay save.

Is that true?

@yakyakyak69 you can just filet them or cut the spines without heating them. Very easy.
